Location Description:

Last used as a playhouse and dancehall back in the summer of '99. Here figures in paintings and photographs on the walls animate, mirrors bleed, people are pushed down the front steps by an invisible force and many more things too numerous to mention here. From the outside you may see faces in the second story windows or a strange purple light moving about the rooms.

I have gone to the playhouse many times. I live in Middletown and frequently drive to De city to take a look at the playhouse. i never see anything strange there. I would LOVE to go inside and help investigate though. Did you ever get inside?

its not a rental its in the middle of the town, the one that was boarded up and no one was able to go in lucky we contacted the current owner and it was said that they are turning it into a B&B and report no activity but the past owner who ran it as a dance and acting studio reported several ghost both seen and not seen and on demon which is responsible for pushing people down the stairs and there is also the blue room where a harmless lady sits on her chair and bothers no one a. a friend of mine took a picture of me walking to the house and in the upper left window he caught a picture of a demon like figure looking right at me. im still trying to find out which site he posted it on. but you'll know the house when you see it " the basement window was broken and maybe still able the crawl in from there i have a few pictures from in site just up to the front door before the stairs

Hello all, I can see the house from my upstairs window, I live on clinton street in DE city. I have been thinking of getting the permissions also. I am a healer and psychic, as is my husband. He has lived in the town for about thirty years and knows much about the towns ghostly history. There are a few more buildings in town that should definitely be looked at too!!!! I am happy with the ghosties in my house.. they are active, but not exceedingly so.. every once in a while they say hello though!! Good luck in getting the permissions and I hope you do! I wrote you a message on myspace kelly. We would love to join you :D

I lived in De City in the "Van Hekel House". It is the first house built in town, around 1830. It is a duplex and across the corner from the Fire Station. We lived there for about 8 months till the landlord passed away and sold it. We had numerous knocking on the doors and walls, doors opening and closing on their own, and shadows on the walls w/ no figure to cast it. This started happening to us after living there for about 6 months. NO ONE IN TOWN WOULD TELL US ANYTHING ABOUT THE HOUSE!!! It was so strange. We asked neighbors, the landlord knew nothing, people in the local businesses, most would say that they didn't want to talk about it. Never felt threatened or scared, just a feeling of someone else was with you. This was early '90's.

Why is it that there is no info on the exact location of the Playhouse. I too rented an apartment once in Delaware City that was on Clinton Street and it was disturbing there to say the least. After three months I had to get out and we transferred our lease with our landlord to a different property. Strangely I have read about people being pushed down steps which is something that happened to me while living in the Apt and I have often wondered if it wasnt the Pachette Playhouse- but there is no info

Most old places in Delaware city ARE haunted,if you stop and think about it ,you get an eerie feeling almost everywhere, especially at governer bacons. A friend of mine went to patchettes playhouse, and happily told me where its at. It's on the corner of washington street and 2nd street
