I lived in Gaffney during these events, and was a little too close for comfort.  The first girl was Nancy Rhinehart, I went to school with her and I knew her brother also.  She was young, only 14.  I can still see her.  And I only know of 4 girls actually one was a woman. Only five months earlier my sister, brothers and I had been there, thats where my uncle would take me to let me shoot his gun.  I had no idea that fall that come February they would find her body. I had been looking for her at least two weeks and I was scared something had happened.  The last time I spoke to her she told me she was seeing someone but wouldn't tell me who because he would be mad. Only weeks after they found her I was walking to church and a man tried to grab me, which scared me to death and I don't scare easy.  I don't live in Gaffney now and havn't for a long time, but I always go by there. The ride is a lot better sence they build up 329.  And I can still feel her, I don't know about hearing her because I never go at night.  And YES,,, It's still rape if they are already dead.

I lived in Gaffney during this time.Leroy Martin was a neighbor.His mother lived close to me also.My friends mother said when were little girls he would watch us play,and get this strange look on his face.We were in denial that someone we knew could do this,we were sure this was the work of someone not from our town.My friends and I formed a club.We called it "The Private Cherokee Chokers Investigaters Club"We would visit the sites where his victims were found.My friends uncle was a city policeman.We saw pictures of some of his victims.He would chew on there faces,breasts and numerous cigarette burns.I went to 2 of the victims funerals.
