My friends, and I visited Red Ash last night. The cemetery is not actually called: "Red Ash Cemetery", It Is called: "Turley Cemetery". Anyways I personally did not find the place to be haunted, at all. As far as I know It's probably their own imagination. I do have to admit though, that I felt like I was being followed, or as if I did not belong there, but once again It could've just been my mind playing tricks on me....

Me and two of my friends saw the exact same thing. All we could see were two gleaming red dots that looked like cat eyes. Our headlights were pointed at this tree down in the cemetary, and I saw the eyes first. I asked my friends about it, and they saw them two; so, I cut the headlights out, and we could still see them. It wasn't any kind of reflection. We walked down toward them and could see something that looked like an old KKK, white robe sticking out from behind the tree. Earlier, when we had driven up the hill to the parking lot, I had seen a flash of white, kind of like a blur, running through the trees on the right side of the road. I had seen it several times. After we saw the robe, we turned around and ran back up to the truck. Back inside the truck, I saw the figure from behind the tree and the two red eyes seemingly just evaporate into the air. I asked my friends if they could see the eyes anymore, and they said no. A minute later, we heard all kinds of strange noises happening in the woods around the truck, and the truck swayed once like someone was outside barely pushing it. After that, we got the hell out of there.

I've lived in Caryville all my life and my father used to work at the old sand quarry (the old lone silo, near the road is all that remains of the sand quarry) up there.  My father has told me some of the stories that he has heard.  For instance, where you cross the railroad tracks, where the substation is, a man was struck by a train a long time ago and some of his possesions were lost, such as his wallet, and never found again.  After he was killed, strange blue lights began to appear near those tracks at night.  As for the ghostly train, that could possibly be any of the many train accidents that have occurred down the railway over the years. This whole area is rich in local folklore.  If your eyes are looking just right, you'll spot two little graves off the side of the road.  The story behind those graves is rather tragic, but for respect of the family, I'll not relate that story on here.  Also, I have never heard of any sort of 'goat man' until I found this website.  

The Turley Graveyard is a creepy place (at least to me) and there used to be a lot of houses setting all around the area.  You can actually see the foundations still yet in the overgrown weeds out in the woods near the graveyard if you look for them.  I do know that there was some occult activity/vandalism that took place in the graveyard a few years ago.  I haven't actually heard of the coal towers being haunted or any stories personally about them before this website.  I also remember that back in the late 1980s, there was a young pregnant girl that was murdered in the Red Ash/Royal Blue area and her body pieces were found in the creek.  I remember seeing the case on the news.  Not too long after she was murdered, I began to hear people say they could see a woman walking along the road sometimes and she was crying. 

Also, the further up the road you go, the scarier the places get.  If you pass up the bridge that leads to Turley and head up the road, you'll eventually come to a gravel road to the right.  If you take that road, it leads you out towards the game warden's house, but you'll also pass by another smaller graveyard that has very old graves in it.  This graveyard has always given me the creeps.  There is just something very forlorn about it.  Also are one or two old houses and the remains of the Coal Company store.   And if you go up the road further than that, you can explore the Stinking Creek area.  Of all the places that give me the creeps, the Stinking Creek area is the worst.  With all the murdered bodies they have found there over the years and stuff, you'd think that there would be stories about that place too? 

yeah, you'd think there would be stories. that place is jacked up. something out there just don't feel right, but thats what i like about it! hey, i heard about a "goatman". is that true? we have been out to red ash twice now (once during the day, one late at night) and i really want to see this goatman. and what is the story behind him?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news here. The Afterlife team did a full investigation of this site on 23April2010. We ran all our audio and our dvr with 4 cameras. Our K2 never even flickered and none of us had a single real incident. I say real because this is an outdoor site so alot can be misunderstood by nature alone. Not saying these claims are false. Just saying that whatever may or may not inhabit this site was using the 5 d's of dodgeball to avoid ANY contact and i mean any. Not a single thing happened that i or the team can consider interesting. No audio or video and not a single personal experience. We don't normally investigate cemetary's for this exact reason. The claims were just to good to pass up if we even got a small percentage of what you folks have claimed. I would really appreciate any and all feedback on this site or other sites in the middle to east Tennessee area that may be of interest to our group. me and a couple buddies went up to red ash tonite and we stopped on the railroad tracks and turned our lites out because the little girl that died is supossed to try to push you off them to save you from the same train that killed her.and when we turned the lites off and put it in neutral it rocked back for a second then it rolled forward and we were on a flat surface.we turned the lites on and got out of there.when we got to the gas station we got out and checked the truck and it had hand prints all over it.on the tail gate.on the side.and even one rite in front of the drivers window.it scared the HELL out of us all.........Go try it some time if you think you can handle it.......
