Location Description:

This Peter Cooper Glue Factory has been abandoned since 1985. It is on the shorelines of Lake Michigan. This place was home to one of the largest fires in Oak Creek history, witch ocured in 1987. It is in the small village of Carrolville. There is 3 other buildings surrounding the area. The old Tannary, the Av Cartag Envirmental Contractors, and The united Fertalizer co. This factory is rumured to be haunted by the murder victims, but as far as the factory goes, only 1 or 2 people were murderd. it is recomended that you do not go in, considering that there may be aspestus and very large holes in the floor. Also lead paint and chemical seepage. It is in a residensial area! no tresspassing! Contact the owner! may be torn down very soon. Land IS for sale.

I do! Boerke Family Trust. I just went to the glue factory last week. It rocks! It's all gated up though. You defunitley would have to contact the owner. I'm not saying you have to, but be careful if you tresspass. There are holes in the fence. Full of asbestos. You have any info on it???

Liar, the Boerke Family Trust, which is actually the Boerke Company, is not the owner. So you were just trespassing.

I've explored this place a number of times and gone in all the buildings.  It is best to wear an industrial respirator and gloves.
Check out this link for some photos of the glue factory and surrounding buildings which are all abandoned.  The last time I was there the cops came and kicked me out, took down my information and said if I ever came back I would be sighted for trespassing.

Sorry everyone - this place is being torn down as we speak. Plus, they stepped up patrols to make sure it gets taken down before winter. I was stopped and questioned by police just last week when I stopped by to bring my dad water. I would NOT recommend going there without contacting the owner.

I live right down the road and walk the dog that way every morning. I was sorry to see that they have started to tear it down. I have never been inside but was always tempted to enter. Definitely an eerie place at 430am. I have noticed a large increase in police prescence so keep that in mind if you plan to explore

I lived there when I was growing up and remember the glue factory when it was still open. I hope they clean it up and leave it as a wilderness area for people to hike through and enjoy. We don't need any strip malls, condos, etc. Carrolville is a nice quiet area and I'm sure the residents want to keep it that way.

whats up everyone...i live in bay view area which is a little ways away from there but i have made numerous trips to the glue factory with friends and with one other person and also alone. one thing i can't stress to u more is "WATCH YOUR A$@ FOR THE COPS!!" they tend to sit at the end of the long drive way to the building. when i go there we park in the lil residential area across the street, round the bar. then we wait til no cars/people are round the road and cross it. we take the tracks all the way down there. its set to the left side of the driveway and is way lower than it so if cops come lay down in the brush and wait til they leave. when u get all the way down there u gotta squeeze through the two gates and as fast as possible get to the big building.( on the right side of the big building right at the corner of it you'll see a big opening where the doors are missing, enter there. once in be careful as hell! when your in, check over any stairs u plan to go up or ladders. use them one person at a time cause i had a friend fall after a step gave on a ladder. if u go on the roof, "DON'T USE ANY LADDERS THAT GO ON THE SIDE OF THE BUILDING, MAINLY ON THE SIDE TOWARDS THE DRIVEWAY, I THINK IT IS TWO LADDERS ON THAT SIDE THAT GO TO ANOTHER LEVEL OF ANOTHER ROOF BELOW. I HAD THE ONE TOWARDS THE RIGHT GIVE ON ME AND IF A FRIEND WASN'T RIGHT NEAR ME I WOULD HAVE FELL FROM A HIGH ENOUGH POINT TO MAKE ME DEAD OR PARALYZED!!" I get off the roof on the side towards the lake. theres a ladder that goes down to another level and another that goes halfway down to the ground and u have to jump like 6 or 7 feet in the grass. the smaller building is in my eyes a bit more creepier. the door on the lake side is usually half open and i had it slam on me almost everytime i go there. this building is a bit more safe, meaning no holes in the floor and one level. but still be cautious. in the big building, there are numerous old machines still there. i know one of them have a wooden staircase along it that takes u up above it, and it has like blades or something in it. that is one of the places you want to go up one at a time and be careful, the steps look to be starting to go. as far as i know the building is still up and it is the one in the way back with the graffiti on the roof you can see from the main road.i would recommend going there after bar close on a sun.-thurs., round 3:00 a.m. when it is more dead. the bar owner and residents around there will call the cops if they see you going to there. i had lots of creepy stuff happen here and am planing to do a full investigation there soon. so good luck and please be safe if you go there. -AJ-

I grew up there when the Glue factory was still operating. Do you know who owns this property now? I know for a fact the Boerke Company does not own it. I contacted them. They are only brokers for the Vulcan Corporation south of there. I have read some of the comments here and I don't believe half of what people are saying. I hope they leave the area a park or wilderness place for people to hike around and enjoy the outdoors. We don't need anymore Strip malls or condos. Half of the strip malls are empty now. Lets keep the area open for people to enjoy. Also, I can't believe the horrible spelling and grammer in these comments.

I've been to the factory many times and I think it was a really cool place to go but now they are tearing it down. I mostly went at night sometimes in small groups and sometimes in large groups. That place definately had a eerie feeling to it but it drew you in too. Seriously though all ya are talking about holes in the fence but it really was a simple as driving down to the fence and around it on the right side. We had parties back there all the time with multiple cars blasting music and fires. Of all the times there only once did the cops show up and the didn't even bother coming past the fence. Also as creepy as the place feels only once did I actually feel like we weren't "alone."

When I was there there were lots of neighborhood kids roaming about, and they are all still standing. Didn't see a lot any cops, but we were careful. I would definitely recommend a respirator, or atleast a handkerchief since most of the area smells like sewage.

The reason it smells like sewage, the Milwaukee County South Shore Treatment Plant is just north of the Glue factory.

I was there yesterday at approximatly 11:25 at night. Today for the first time in 10 years the fire alarm in my house. This time it went off for no reason. so I think a very pissed off ghost followed me home since I stepped inside the garage enterance, threw a couple rocks, yelled, and disturbed the peace with a friend.

I live In Carrolville.  There is a regular police presence on the east stretch of Depot Road, because that is all that is down that stretch of it.   Up until recently it was accessible through a bent gate near the railroad tracks,  Now everything is locked up down there.  Don't be seen, or caught down there on the other side of the fence, The man will give you a fine, and possibly take you for a ride.....    Creepy Place.

I was just there! It was not torn down and there weren't any signs of it being torn down. It was really creepy and foggy, and me and my friends fortunately didn't see any cops either. If you go down Depot road like half way there's a gate and these big cement blocks on either side and it's perfectly set up for climbing over and onto the property. We just had trouble actually finding an entrance into the factory on the Depot road side. I was wondering if there were homeless people in there? We didn't actually go in we just walked around outside it.

I was there just Friday night...a group of friends and I got in by the cement blocks as well. We found a crazy old man in the west end of the plant near some old machines or something. He screamed at us to leave or we would be in trouble. We just ignored this old man and walked around some more. On the way out we looked for him but he was gone. Oh well, some crazy old codger being silly. No worries here, happy exploring.

Been there aproximately 50 x in 15 years. The entire property is erie. The buildings are historical and sadly laid to waist! Punks who tag them are very disrespectful and wouldnt know history if it bit them. Like the pump house on the sand by the huge granite boulders. What a peice of history? But dont try to walk the crippeled, long staircase to the house! Ive been preserving historical artifacts discarded from the 100 year old factories and from the estimated late 1860's-1900's town of Carrolville's trash is now tresure. After the buildings are gone i'll have something to remember them by.

I live back in the neighborhood and I am familiar of who you are referring to.  Very nosey with nothing better to do.  He WAS the neighborhood watch.  Just be good back here and dont cause problems and everything will be fine.  Carrolville is a safe quiet neighborhood.

I drive past the Peter Cooper Corp. site occasionally.  The buildings are in the process of being demolished. More than 50 percent of the buildings are already down.  As for the sewage smell, MMSD's South Shore treatment plant is just to the north of these buildings.

Finally a responce! I'm pretty sure I seen that green mini van guy parked paralell to Depot Rd. Maybe he lives there? Anyways he will never prevent me and my friend from getting back there as our unending goal is to preserve historical artifacts. Urban archeologists we were reffered to. We never do harm we only admire that history. You will never see spray paint cans in our hands. The majority of teens are having unprotect s-x reklessly and doing drugs and we instead admire and preserve historical atifacts. We are in a race to preserve history as we and many others beleive that in less than 2 or 3 years there will be a 6ft cap ontop of the contamination and new buildings being built. We allready seen this happen on canal street and lincoln memorial drive. The artifacts being put to rest for another 100 years.

Oh! I didnt forget our STRANGE occurances we have experienced while back there. Once while perched I heard a child's call out to a parent or such. Sounded like a little girl's call. Is she a lost soul looking for her daddy who died while on the job? Perhaps he helped distill whiskey with John Carroll at his distillery in 1892. Or helped Peter Cooper invent JELL_O at his Carrollville location or worked at the Tar paper co in 1915 or even Newport Chemical Co? Dont know but i am very paranoid when i'm back there especially when i hear these voices and even a man's yell maybe comming from one the factories. Or maybe the hundreds of creepy RED spiders that are in the soil? But if you stand on the red granet boulders that surround the old pump house you will hear strange anomolies emenating from the rocks when the waves hit. I always look up at the cliff tops feeling as though someone or something is observing me. They probably respect what we are doing there and wouldnt harm us as we feel a conection to there past when we walk the earth they walked and occasionally hold one of their discarded relics from a 100 years ago. While the majority of people are back there freebasing and vandalizing maybe the entities if any will teach em a lesson?

I lived in Carollville for 20 years and investigated the factories numerous times. We'd normally enter through the hole in the fence just north of Maple St. Sometimes we'd walk from Bender Park along the beach and climb the cliffs. The creepiest way in was an underground tunnel I'm guessing was used for pipes and electricity. The entrance is above ground but was cemented closed. A small opening was enough for me and my friend to get through but not big enough for our huskier friend. It was about 4x4 feet and a few football fields feet long. It was littered with clothing, blankets and other various garbage. Graffiti lined the walls and some was apparently dated back to the 70's. It was obvious homeless people had lived there. The tunnel led to the basement of the main building. Unfortunately, the basement was always half-flooded and pitch black since the only entrances were by ladders in small holes in the floor. We explored it a few times, but got too creeped out when we heard loud noises but could not find anyone down there. There were many openings to other underground tunnels including the sewage system, but most had too much water to safely navigate. This first few years were explored it the basement was accessible; as the years went on the water refused to recede and the basement was largely ignored during our visits. The main building was the place we explored the most extensively. There was a room that was three stories high and had a ventilation fan in the ceiling that was accessible by scaling various scaffolding and detached ladders. We would climb this often until a friend almost fell and we wised up. A similar instance occurred to me while climbing the water tower that used to be erected across from Depot Rd. Another room housed a giant metal vat next to an old disassembled machine. Billions of tiny metal ball bearing-type things covered the floor. We made up a story to go along with it that included a worker falling in the machine and rescuers cutting it open to rescue him. The roof was beginning to sag and cave in some areas but a few "lookout" towers were solid enough to climb and have a sit. It was a great place to keep an eye out for police. Nighttime was creepy, but it was so dark in some areas it really didn't matter. The place was like a miniature city. I can't get into all of it; just wish I'd have taken pictures. Dozens of stairways to nowhere, strange noises and eerie occurrences, mysterious walled-up rooms, conveyer belts, as well as the underground tunnels and the darkened basement, kept my friends and me coming back year after year. Unfortunately, the main building had begun to be disassembled. I'm guessing it's sadly, only a matter of time before the whole place is razed.

Looks like there will be no more expolring.  All the buildings are a pile of rubble with a few concrete support pillars still standing. Only a matter of time before the whole site is cleaned up.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

I HAVE STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER FROM THIS SITE!!!!

I will print copies of the very detailed EPA report done on this site and post them so knowone gets ill years after living in the condos they will be building shortly. Walking the dogs along the new paved foot paths along the clifftop while the lake winds are blowing toxic dust into the lungs of these residents and there pets. Windows open during warm whether blindly allowing toxic Cadnium, Asbestos and Phenol laden dust to blow inside the condos is asking for health problems. The cliff faces themselves cannot be capped due to constant errotion! Atleast a 1/2 mile of shore line and possibly 100's of feet westward and upto 12 feet deep in some areas of toxic land will have to be removed! Knowing the land so well for decades I would not feel comfortable living in a condo on this site and not even with a 8 foot cap on top because of the exposed cliff face leaching all this hazardess material since 1893, and especially not! with Newport Chemical Company being in business during a time period without regulations! GOOD LUCK ALL YOU NEW RESIDENTS.
