All of the "could be possible" speculations about this monument are total BS. I've lived behind this cemetary for about 15 years now, in fact I used to walk through it every day to get home from school. Its a giant cemetery so yes, it's creepy... But other than that, there is nothing paranormal about it. There are no holes drilled in the eyes of that sculpture, thats part of the sculpture itself, it's meant to be the iris... Blood never drips from the hands, at times the statue is stained because of some dumbass teen playing a joke. Let's be real people and respect that this is a resting place, not a haunted theme park...
Yeah, I just got back about an hour ago from LaBelle, and the statue is quite beautiful, really. It did give me a very odd sensation, being near it. Actually, her left arm seemed to be colder than the rest of the statue. I reccomend checking it out!
I did see that her eyes had been drilled into, but there were no traces of blood on the hands. I left a penny in them! :)
Another haunted LaBelle thing: Kohl. its a crypt in the middle of the cemetery, and i walked near it, and a HUGE feeling came over me, almost like a wave. pretty weird
La Belle Cemetery located in Oconomowoc, Waukesha County is location of a granite statute of a young woman standing near a cross. The story is told that sometimes an apparition of the girl is seen walking from the statute and drowning herself in the nearby Lake Fowler. Others have said to have seen her come to life and walk into Lac LaBelle (which is some distance away). It has also been told that the hands on the statue sometimes drip blood. When visiting the cemetery, one finds the Surname Nathusius carved on the statue. Directly in front of the statue are buried:Father Carl (1830-1921)Mother Louise (1832-1917)Brother Wilhelm (1865-1945)Daughter Carolina (1865-1952)source: LinksToThePast
Another interesting history of this cemetery is that it isn't the original. The original cemetery was established in 1851 called the Oconomowoc Cemetery. When they decided they needed more area, they moved the cemetery to it's current location which is now the La Belle Cemetery. This move occurred in 1864. The bodies from the old cemetery were moved to the new location.
I went there two weeks ago and vow NEVER TO GO BACK!! This is so vierd that I will never ever EVER return. So, so i was just sittin there and all of a sudden, the statue broke her frozen position and PUSHED ME OFF THE LEDGE!! I turned around that that mean old BITCH smirked at me and flipped me off! THE NERVE OF THAT STATUE!
Ca-rrrrrazy!!
My Grandfather is burried by the Kohl Vault at the top of the hill. This is a very emotional place for me, but I do not believe there are any evil spirits in the cemetery. I have been visiting since the 1970s. Wish they had not built that new neighborhood behind the place... It doesn't look right.
