Description:
The Sequoia Dawn, low income housing that is there now was once an old TB sanitarium and hospital for Tulare County. Several of the residents have had strange occurrences in their apartments and also other buildings there. There is a room in the clinic there that is so cold you feel uncomfortable in it and that room is only used for storage now. Also voices are heard throughout the buildings by residents and when they turn to look no one is there. A woman who lived upstairs in the Laural building saw an apparition of a woman in her hallway that suddenly vanished.

I REMEMBER VISITING A FAMILY FRIEND AT THIS PLACE WHEN I WAS ABOUT 5-6 YEARS OLD. THERE USED TO BE A PLAYGROUND ON THE GROUNDS I REFUSED TO GO INSIDE BECAUSE IT GAVE ME THE CREEPS. I COULD FEEL BAD THINGS HAPPEN THERE THE YEAR WAS ABOUT 1968. I REMEMBER THE BASEMENT I"LL BET THERE ARE BODIES BURIED BEHIND THE HOSPITAL SOMEWHERE.

I recently visited this property (2009) and was given a full tour. i seriously doubt they buried bodies behind the hospital because there is an original incinerator still in the basement of the main building. no doubt, it got lots of use - along with a typical morgue-style freezer. These were pretty spooky themselves, but a lot less spooky than bodies buried out back!

I have visited there also - my Grannie was in the hospital there for awhile. I played on the playground. I remember having to stay outside because I was too young to go in. Now this place is a paranormal hotspot in our area. It is the Sequoia Dawn low income apartments - mostly retirees. I have visited w/ them a little and there are some very interesting stories come out of that place.

My maternal grandmother died in the san (as she called it) in 1926. There are rumors that she may have killed herself. I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. I have a picture of my mother as a toddler on a step at the sanitarium. I can see beds on the veranda. My grandmother wrote some pretty dark stuff in her diary while she was there. I'd like to visit some day.

i worked at Sequoia Dawn..   Yes i do believe there are spirits.  We had a little girl visit us in the house we lived in . Upon our arrival one evening oh around 6 pm my husband an I opened the front door to hear the little girl say THERE HOME THERE HERE AS SHE LAUGHED AN RAN OUT OF THE ROOM.  We looked at each other as we heard it an thought maybe someone was playing a joke on us but searched the house an found nothing.  We also heard music play at night that was old time music at about midnight on numerous occassions, others also heard this music.  It was only in the houses at the top of the hill. The Oak building which was where the original hospital was i believe haunted.  We stayed in that building for about a week our dog would wake up an bark in the middle of the night for no reason.  The basement was terrible, the feelings of cold, fright and dispair was overwhelming. I hated the basement.
So it is my belief that many things happend there that nobody knows about.  May the spirits there find peace.

oI feel so bad for the spirits stuck in that place. There is such a dark feeling that comes over you just walking through there. I've heard many stories luckily never experianced any of the hauntings. Rest in peace to all of you unforntunate souls. May angels be with you.

I was a patient at the hospital in 1956 for over nine months.  I was only 6 at the time but have many memories of the place.  Visiting hours were one hour on Sundays. I loved my nurse "Reed", i suppose that was her last name. I remember as someone special.

I was just looking at the pictures of the area for potential rentals for myself and my sister and our animals. I was so impressed by the beauty of the surrounding area. I found the Sequoia Dawn Apts website and was starting an online tour when I got the feeling that it may have been an old sanitarium of some kind. A creepy feeling. I had to check into it for myself. Yep! I was right! No thank you! Why go looking for trouble? I didn't even care for the sound of the woman's voice or something in her mannerism over the phone. She was not in the least bit rude. But just the same... I'll stay in the Visalia, California area. Thank you so much!
