Description:
Carmel - Smalleys Inn Restaurant - building has been there since 1852, several incidents have happened, ghostly images have appeared, phone calling each other, sightings of a little girl, things falling from there places. cold in a little liquor room in the basement strange sounds and feelings.

December 2003 addition: Local radio station K104.7 sends some of its employees during the Woodman in the Morning show to haunted places during October and Smalleys happens to be the one where they find the most activity. In addition to all the things already listed, the employees have found out that the name of the little girl haunting the place is named Elizabeth Smalley and while on location, she has called the Inn and giggled on the other end. In the wine cellar, there has been large collection of crickets that chirped whenever someone is closed inside. Lights flicker on and off quite often and the radio show employees have heard a multitude of various things while on air, including lots of random static while on a regular cordless phone in which they have heard voices, mostly Elizabeth giggling or sometimes crying. They have also taken many picture riddled with orbs, in some of which faces can be seen. The radio employees also believe that one of the radio show hosts may now be personally haunted by Elizabeth as they have heard her voice on air while he is at different haunted locations.

I live in Carmel, and have been in Smalley`s several times over the last 40 years, and have never seen or heard anything unusual, aside from the occasional obnoxious drunk.

I belong to East Coast S.C.A.R.E Society and we have been there on several investigations getting many EVP's and pictures and sounds . So yes Smalleys Inn appears to be haunted. They used to store the dead bodies from the revolutionary war in what is now the wine cellar. Aside from that the owners are great as the food !

I went to smalley's Inn last night on a whim with my uncle and older brother, the owner of the restaurant/inn/bar (Tony) amazed and fascinated us with his stories and pictures of the very TRUE smalley's hauntings, whether or not they are true the setting is warm and extremely friendly with some of the best tasting and greatest priced foods i have ever eaten in upstate NY.

I lived in the First Baptist Church's parsonage right up the street when I was younger. That house is VERY haunted, too. As far as I know, it's still a private residence, but if anyone ever gets a chance to check it out... my email: reddgiraffe@live.com

My mom and I ate at Smalley's Inn this afternoon. (food was great) It was a fluke that we stopped there. We'd never heard anything about this place. Just really hungry. Just before we left, I had to use the ladies room. I can hardly describe what happened to me. It felt like someone was literally in there with me, and it's a very tiny room. I almost couldn't breathe and I was suddenly really scared. (I'm not clausterphobic) I literally ran out of the room and got mom and we left. I couldn't describe the feeling of anxiety, or why I had it. On our way home we had to stop at mom's friend's house and we told her what happened.. That's when this woman explained to us that the pub is supposed to be "haunted." There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that there was some"one" in that small room with me. I'm still feeling really nervous. After visiting this site, I see that I'm not alone or crazy!

ive gone on a tour in carmel (ive lived here since i was 3) and they took us to smalleys and the owner showed us photos of ghosts there and told us all the stories. i have experienced spots in smalleys that are WAY colder than others, and definitely believe it is haunted.
