Location Description:

The Horton House is an abandoned house located on the outskirts of Fort Payne AL in a small town known as Pine Ridge. This house is the site of a vicious murder where a father went insane and murdered his three children then torturered his wife for 2 days before hanging her in her sleep from the sub-flooring in the basement. Witnesses say that the entire family haunts the house and there are at least two other ghost haunting the house, one a little girl who likes to hug people and another. There have been stories of s%E9ances that went horribly wrong in this house, there have been numerous accounts of the choking of certain people who walk into this house. Knocking can be heard on the walls and the floors and the sounds of a bird will come through the bay window that will soon end up being the loud screams of a young girl. You can also see white orbs that move along the walls outside the bay window in the children`s room. A black wavey shadowy figure comes out of the fireplace where Psalms 27-1 is on the wall.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	not really its just going from FortPayne To Rainsville after passing walmart Pine Ridge road is on the left. On the road you take the first left and then follow the road straight for about 3 miles and on the right. If you pass a dead tree and a old clay oven you have gone to far. Its on a trail and you hve to walk up to it. Go at night if you want something to happen.

AnonymousVisiter V -	The house has really been burnt down but down the road befor you get to the house there is a road and when you turn on it coming from fp its on your right then go down the road and there is another road on your left.. if you take it it will take you to this dirt road about 3-5 mins after you get on the dirt road on your left will be a pull off spot and there is a metal wire thing go over that and it will take you to the horton grave yard i have been there several times and the 1st time it was halloween last year and we wreaked and totaled out car.. but you can go to the witches den and go under the grave yard where you can see the caskets.. its really cool i have always loved going to the horton house and i am mad it got burnt down but i have heard everything and i know a girl tht got chocked in it.. it was really freaky.. go to the graves if i get the road numbers i will post them.. have fun and be safe!

YOU ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT SEE ANY CASKETS OR BODIES HANGING INSIDE THE CAVE! the cave ceiling in solid rock! yes the cave is near the cemetary but it does not go directly under the bodies and even if it did they do not hang through the solid rock! the caving club I'm a member of has been caving in that cavern for years and there are no bodies or caskets visible. it's a tall tale told by the locals!

AnonymousVisiter * US	during the early 1980s about 50 of us with nothing better to do went up there. we went at night. found the graveyard with sunken graves. after walking through the graveyard there was a small hole not much bigger than a beach ball. we squeezed inside. the cave is under the graveyard. and yes i and everyone else could see several caskets protruding from the ceiling. earlier descriptions say it is solid rock. but its only soft sand stone with fissures leading up to the ceiling. actually it was probably quite dangerous for possible colaspes. after that we all went back to the cars and sat on the hoods. hell we didnt have any beer that nite so everyone was sober. there are no roads around except for the one we drove. then all of the sudden we found ourselves being peltied by small rocks from all directions. no explanation. we left.

AnonymousVisiter V -	i posted the comment befor and i took a dog coller from the house and i had nightmares until i gave it to my bf at the time and he had such bad dreams he couldnt sleep i kept in my car and he kept it in his house he threw it away and all the dreams stopped.. idk if it was just in our heads or it had something to do with the coller but it was scary..

AnonymousVisiter V -	Okay if you are in fort payne the road by lowes go to it and you will get on County Road 51 by the jail you turn right on to 51 go on it a while and turn on CoRd 52 go a little ways and you will turn on cord 88 go awhile down that road and turn on cord 461 then you will turn on cord 458 this is a paved road and it turns to a dirt road and when you get on the dirt road there will be a pull on the left and there will be a wire fence.. go over it and follow the trail and have fun.. i just got back if its night bring a flash light.. peace..

My grandmother has been in the house when she was a little girl and aunt della was alive. Also the county they list is wrong the county is Dekalb, and Pine Ridge is not a town it is a small community. I live less than 1/2 mile from the house. I have lived there for 27 years. We quail hunt right next to the house. If anybody knows about this house it is my family.

And belive me, Doc Horton didnt murder his children and wife and most of the haunting done in that house was done by me when i was in high school. I know it isnt haunted because I have personally spent the night in the house and used it as a dry place to get out of the rain while hunting. And it is true, it was burned down and if anyone has any info on how it happened i would love to know.

I would tell you that you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet or hear the locals say. there's always alot of tall tales in small towns to make the imagination go wild! I live near the Horton area, and I've heard every tale in the book. but for the record, YOU CAN'T SEE ANY CASKETS OR BODIES HANGING DOWN IN THE CAVE! that's one of the oldest tall tales told in Fort Payne!

I can tell you that I've never been to the house before it burned down and I've never been in the cave; but I HAVE been in the graveyard, and some very negative things happened while I was there. Prior to that experience I didn't really believe in anything paranormal, per-se, but I believe it now. I don't know if what I encountered was demonic, or a the spirit of a human being, but whatever it was was evil. My advice would be: don't go looking for things you don't really want to find - and some things you REALLY do NOT want to find.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	Okay look...I lived right down the road from the Horton grave yard, years ago. I actually visited the grave yard and night, day, midday and even in the wee early mornings. I took digital pictures. I captured several orbs, and There is a huge tree with a headstone laying down between the two trees. I was standing there doing a EVP session. Then I turned and walked about ten steps and took a picture. When I got home and put the pictures on my computer I captured the most amazing picture ever. It was a half body aparition in a orb like thing standing right were I was. It was a man with a beard and mustache. Black and greyish hair. I am not saying it is haunted. A real haunted place is when you get grabbed, pinched, slapped, etc. But I do think their is spirits there because I captured one. Now as far as the caskets in the cave. NO DEAL! Been all over that cave and there was nothing. Don't know who came up with that crap but thats a lie. The Horton house was burnt down some years ago because of idiot people writing on the walls. I been to the Horton house with permission. There is nothing there but a chimney. I took pictures there as well and didn't capture anything. But regardless its a lovely place and history.
