Location Description:

now Channel Islands University This large enclave of buildings in Camarillo is now a university, but were originally built in the 1920s as a state mental hospital. They changed over to a school in the mid 90s. There have been many stories of ghosts over the years of all kinds due to the fact that patients previously lived and died there. Some of the buildings are in the process of being turned into dorms and some students have experienced all kinds of unexplained events. The sounds of children`s voices at the children`s center, by the Bell tower an old woman walking and asking for directions to the chapel and old woman wearing white wondering the hallways in the daytime. In the restrooms the voice of someone saying, "SSSHHHHH" in parking lot A figure that looks like a man spinning around until it disappears near one of the street lights. objects seen with the corner of the eye and then when people turn they disappear. Many people have had encounters with ghost at this site, during the day and at night the ghost don`t have a preferred time. Some complaints from students and staff are headaches, nausea, feeling of being watched, feeling unsafe, threatened, and extreme tiredness. Also, there have been numerous sightings of at least a dozen different entities in the Bell Tower, Police Station region. (Currently, only very few buildings at the site are used most are abandoned.) Entities seen range from a beautiful woman in white who wanders both night and day in the hallways in and around the Bell Tower, a man by the bus stop, and a rather nervous entity in one of the women`s restrooms in the Bell Tower who not only chatters but makes some kind of rustling sound.

I usually take the bus from camarillo to oxnard and whenever i am sitting at the bus stop i can here very distinct foot steps on the other side of the wall behind me and i always get things thrown at me from  the other side of that wall and  there is a mural on the wall. The building is abondoned and the courtyard is full of trees and bushes. It is realy creepy. I wonder why this building isnt being used. Its odd because its in the front of the college and next to the town center and right behind the bus stop!!!!

I used to work there and have visited the dairy. It is indeed a haunted place. When the state closed Camarillo down I wondered if the haunts would continue.

I was at a party there one night and had a really strange experience. I was alone in a room outside a place people said was "haunted" and the window opened by itself. Nobody could have done it because it was very high up towards the ceiling. I most definitely believe its haunted.

The new university seems so pretty, but many of the old original buildings are still there waiting to be renovated. I went there with a friend who has classes there on Saturdays, and I was waiting in the tiny "parking lot" near her class building, inside the big, heavy Tahoe. All of the sudden the car starts shaking from behind...and no one was there. So I assumed it was a minor earthquake. But it happened again. Literally half a minute later, the car door (which was open for some air) was pushed. Maybe it was the wind? No. There was absolutely no wind. And the car door was pushed almost closed again, and I closed the that door as quick as I could... I'm never going there again.

I told my friend, and she wasn't surprised. She said the "parking lot" used to be a courtyard for the patients.

Yep! This place is haunted, from here all the way to Calabasas/Agoura Hills & the other direction towards Malibu in the canyons (Decker, Malibu, etc.)

The old accessible abandoned buildings that were there last time I went there, (some were posted "no trespassing" & behind fences, so we didn`t go there) were most definitely haunted. You can hear people screaming, moaning, etc. The person with me said she saw a lady wearing a white flowy dress, thinking it was someone walking around like us, she called out to her, then without an answer, she realized this "lady" had no legs & was not touching the ground. An awesome experience.

When visiting this place (if you still can), realize a lot of weird things happened there, including patients killing people both in the old hospital & in the old parking lot, as well as some rumored to have been patients killed by experimentation by a few not-so-sane "doctors" who worked there - especially in the 1960`s & into the late 1970`s (although to a lesser degree, at least what I recall reading about in the papers.) Be "clear" & protected spiritually before you go, and I`d STRONGLY recommend doing a serious spiritual cleanse after you have left (AND drive VERY carefully when you leave!)

I also experienced older things happening here, a tribe of natives living here, long before this was ever a hospital.

I myself went in the ocean for a cleanse and did some meditation on the beach after being there. After visiting this place and even driving on the canyon roads around this area all the way to the 101 freeway & into the Malibu area from here, it is a good idea to be sure nothing & no one has latched onto you! Some of the entities seem peaceful and calm, others (most I`ve experienced at this location) are not. There is a feel of disrespect, violence & resulting death here.

If you are looking for a haunted place to visit, this is one place that I`m pretty sure you`ll experience something any day of the week, but especially around sundown & shortly after is when I felt & heard things the strongest. I think it has to do with the place being quieter, less light, etc. to interfere with experiencing what these beings have to show us.

This would be a good place to perhaps work to send some of these spirits on their way into the light. Some seems stubborn and seem to like being there.

Some people get scared when they experience "supernatural" stuff for the first time.. I would NOT recommend this for someone new to these kinds of experiences! If a voice from no one of this earth or a presence of evil scares you, OR if you are not familiar with spiritual cleaning, this is not a place for you to start... Go elsewhere where there are frien

Went on the campus to see how it was with the remodling. First impression was so much pain and suffering. The minute we drove on to the campus I burst into tears. I had not felt that heavy sad feeling for a long time. The place is so rich in history. My husband worked as a psych nurse in 1979 and he said the place was bad then. There is the electric shock therapy building that is still standing in the old part of the hospital. The back end of the hospital is still in original shape, and they are working on remodeling. As you well know this is now the campus for Cal State Channel Islands. But i have not seen it mentioned that this also was the original location for the morgue. I am not sure on the dates, but this location was the original location for the city morgue. My mother was a beautician, and one of her clients was the Dept Coronor for Ventura County. I will need to do more research. I found this place filled with a heavy sad energy of desperation and hopelessness. I have not been that sensitive to that form of energy for many years and it was borderline overwhelming. I hope those sad souls have found peace. I feel there will be more uprising as they go about remodeling the older part of the buildings. The above was written by me before i became a member

there are buildings buried in the dirt i know me and a friend saw them that place is evil swear to god its evil. i remember hearing people screaming underground this was many years ago when it was still a hospital we used to sneak on grounds and creep around. hell even delivered pizza there one night while tripping on unicorns " lsd" thought they were gonna keep us this was back in the 80's. the guy who i did this all with later hung himself in the barn. ps if you look you can find "stuff" in the river bed that passes both places. ie knucke bones . . but back to the point there are bunkers there i think when it bacame a campus the completely buried them but the are there dug into the side of 2 hills surrounded by eculyptus trees. no shit

a while ago I kept getting dreams about driving through fields and coming to a huge building. I remember I would go up the stairs and there would be blood on the steps. A little girl would follow me around too. i'd finally find someone and they would always tell me that the place used to me an asylum but is now being turned into a school. Then I'd go back to my car and the girl would be there. She'd tell me to go into the abandoned part of the building and look for something for her. And after I would tell her no she would turn into a demon. I had that dream a couple of times. And once I had a dream about the same girl at a different place.. but it was still a school. She would throw me down a shaft and I would end up crawling out of a tunnel back to the first school. That girl is evil... I had those dreams before I even know of Channel Islands University. Now whenever I pass it I always get a feeling like someone is watching me and trying to pull me in. I don't know what to do but so far most people have told me to stay the hell away from it.

I was there for the graduation this last week-end (May 17, 2008.) I felt fine in most areas, but when I went into one of the older buildings, which I believe was N. of the courtyard area where the graduation was taking place, I went up some stairs, then felt like I was pushed going down the one step towards the ladies bathroom. After I came out of there, I walked down on of the old hallways, and at the same stairway I again felt like someone pushed me. I walked down the hallway, and there are now some classrooms there. I don't think I'd choose this university as a place to go to school, even if the instructors and education is great (although it's prolly better than UCSB, which IMOE was nothing but a party school.) Anyhow, there is some definite strange energy there. IT would be neat to see one of those ghost shows do a thorough investigation of CSUCI, as os many people have experienced starange things there, AND there were so many murders, etc. that happened there when it was a state hospital... The place was pretty much like a horror movie, as when medical (or this case mental) proceedures are changed, we often look at how barbaric the old ones were, and in the case of this hospital, there was some serious stuff going on there that went beyond what was even considered "normal" at the time, and was nothing short of barbaric (such as letting a male patient out when he said he would kill again, and he killed his wife in the parking lot, and several other murders that happened there in the late 1970's... Hmmm... Was strange to be back tehre. I was focusedf on the graduation and hadn't really thought about this stuff, until I went to the bathroom, then everything about the day changed... Also, OK it was a HOT day, but I've NEVER been to a graduation from ANY school where people left! VERY strange!

I go to school there and have lived on campus and the only two really creepy places i have been. Never got to go to the old morgue though. on the back side of campus near the back lot(rape lot) has such a creepy feeling lots of us art students know its haunted. I hated walking from that lot to the dorms late at night i swear you can see people looking at you through the windows, but no ones there cause its all locked up.I have also been in the Bowling alley (its locked and no ones allowed in there but it was open one day for a few mins) that had such a strange feeling like you could almost hear the place being used and people talking. there are old bowling shoes laying around its really neat.

you know I never really thought about it while I went to school here, but looking back it really is a creepy play to goto school. The architecture is so uniform like a hospital and it's in such a remote location. I always thought I was a little nutty, but looking back on my choice in college, I must be insane.

I went here in April 2008 with my paranormal group RIP. We snuck into the abandoned building to the right of the new library(which was the morgue and hospital). The door was propped open so we went in. We got weird vibes, some psychics with me felt that patients had been raped in there and treated horribly. I got an EVP that said "we're home" and another that said "go" when we talked about walking down some stairs. One lady felt an evil presence way back in a dark area in the back of a room. We heard a heavy door slam and nobody was there. The building was left just like it was when it was still a mental hospital. Old sinks, cabinets and even chairs lying around. Creepy. Then cops busted us so we had to get out of the building. We walked around most of the night and went in any open buildings. The bell tower wasn't too creepy, thought I did record the sound of a man yelling in pain. ALso the vending machine would make weird noises every time we walked by. The back courtyard in the south quad, near the old courthouse, was very creepy. One man felt a woman following him around, we got a pic of an orb with a face in it. My walkie talkie turned on and only played loud static and I couldn't turn it off. One person in my group had her voice recorder somehow pulled into an open window and dropped into an old dining hall. We called the cops over and they came to open the building. I

nteresting stories, the cops told us that they don't like going in the building (old Unit 28). They said other ghost groups went in there and came out white as a sheet. Said people change after they go in there. We finally got her recorder out, and we got to go inside the buildings. It was dirty and birds had nests in there. Also, some lights were on but the cops said they don't know how they got turned on. They also said part of the movie Pearl Harbor was filmed there, and a night security guard on the set saw a bunch of kids playing on the playground, and didn't understand why they were out so late. In the morning, he told someone and they said the place is abandoned. The guy freaked out so much he threw up and never came back. Also a man working underneath the old morgue building felt a tap on his shoulder, turned around and nobody was there. He took off too. Apparently they can't keep contractors around long enough to remodel the older buildings. So alot of them are abandoned. Beware of the cops, they will give you a ticket. Be careful, there are some non-human entities here. I was told this by a person who's very knowledgable and experienced in the field of paranormal research.

RIP Ghost Hunter... How much was the ticket? (That sucks that you got one, but then I have no idea who you'd talk to to get permission to go to some of the places... Maybe CSUCI staff???) I would strongly suggest clearing yourself after going there... I passed by there one day to go to a beach with nice waves and, after getting an eerie feeling stopped the car (I think this may have been on Decker Cyn. Rd.???) Anyhow, I looked down a ravine and there were a LOT of cars that had crashed there, one very recently. When I went over to T.O. afterwards, I called the police, as there appeared to be bodies left in one of the cars. They said they knew about many other wrecks there, but not the last two (I'd given them a description and if I recall correctly, a plate number off one of the cars we could see.) The sheriff's office told me that they didn't remove the cars, as it was too hard and too steep in that ravine to get cars out of there, so if there are people/bodies, they simply remove them in litter baskets and leave the cars behind. Perhaps the school (if they own all the property there) should have warning signs about this being previously a mental hospital where quite a few murders and other weird stuff went on. If TAPS went out there, I'm sure they'd have a ball there.

Anonymous user, I didn't get a ticket, but they did write down information on one of my group members. They threatened us with a trespassing fine if they caught us in the abandoned buildings again. I walked into the bell tower and other areas that were completely open. I want to go back this month and explore some more. I heard there's cameras outside the abandoned buildings. I doubt they will let TAPS go there, they said they're trying to downplay the whole mental hospital thing. I also heard the stories about cars crashing on that road. Scary.

I was actually in the first graduating class out there.  We were the class of 2000 and it was considered Cal State Northridge at Channel Islands at that time.  I remember when I first drove out there and pulled up to the campus, I instantly got this overwhelming feeling of spirits or just a presence wandering the campus.  I am a very curious person and I would explore the campus on my own, wandering unfamiliar halls, staircases and even the old bowling alley.  Looking back, I don't know what I was thinking.  I guess in a way I was hoping I would see something. I never actually saw anything tangible that I can explain, it was more of just a feeling.  Always cold, empty & creepy.  It is a beautiful campus, but the fact that the old mental hospital had only been closed 2 years, it seems like it was too soon for us to be filling the hall ways.   Too bad they waited until the end of its era to actually start seeing these people as human beings and giving them the treatment they needed.  If they hadn't waited so long maybe we wouldn't have to be subjected to all of its angry energy & spirits.  My last class got out at 9:40pm and I would get the bus around 9:45.  I remember I would have to sit out there alone in the dark and always turning around feeling like something was kind of watching me.  God I must have been brave.  I don't think I would do that now!!  I wonder how the students out there today feel?

ok i went to school there and work there so in total have been there seven years, NO it is not haunted and half of the things people have written here are crap.  I had class in the hospitol before it was remodeled to the library, i have pictures of the morgue, and had microscope labs in surgery rooms, i also had class in the hospitol until ten at night.  Never saw anything.  Never heard anything.  I have spent a very long time there and indeed can say you are all liars.

I'm sure its a very inspiring place to do art. There is something amazing about creating in a place of such history. I don't know about "evil" entities or anything, and I'm not sure I know if they are "ghosts" or not, but I was there and a few unexplainable things happened to me. I walked into a room and saw what it used to look like. When I asked an administrator and described what I saw she told me it was exactly the description before the remodel. Im not a psychic or anything, it was just an experience I had. There is definitely a neat energy there...not to say its ghostly or anything, but any place with history keeps something with it.

Well - I don't know about all this "haunted" stuff.  I worked there, 1966-1969.  It was a period of transition, LSD was just coming into general use and a young man I really liked who had freaked out still had flashbacks months later and was hospitalized.  He cut his wrists apparently during a flashback, and that was the only patient with that kind of episode that I knew of while there.  A number of elderly patients, however, did die of natural aging or disease.  At that time, anyone with severe MS or any neurological disease of this kind without the means for long term care was able to be cared for in the hospital unit, and they were usually very well cared for, and liked.

The buildings were old then, although kept in good condition, and there were stories about the "old history".  Yes there were patients who were very sad at having to live there, and some were very angry about being put there.  I worked in the children's unit then, and that was truly dreadful - these kids were so sick, and not well treated. But there were also patients who regarded Camarillo as a place of refuge.  We didn't have many "homeless" mentally ill on the street then - they were in the state hospital, bathed and clothed, and fed 3 meals a day.  You have to decide if they were better off.

We went on a class trip to tour the campus. Me and my friend got off the bus and just looked at eachoter and we both had a creepy feeling. We took off toward the new library and it was closed. We felt like there was no life. We found some abandoned buildings and looked in the windows and doors. We never saw anything but we felt sadness. We knew something had happened. People weren't treated right here. We then went to the back of the library and felt someone watching us. The high windows were broken and barred up. They really kept my attention. StNding in the back lot we decided to research it on my phone. Everything was clicking. Other friends saw a random chair in a field, scratches on the wall. We walked down hallways empty and felt like somene was following. We were jittery and felt anxious like something was gonna happen. It's hard to explain. We walked past the coffee vending machine and it started going off. No one ever touched it. We walked upstairs to the highest floor and it became very cold and strange. We left. We felt anxiety tiredness and people were watchingv us. Everywhere we went. There's something here. A kid maybe. Or a man being tortured. I can feel it. It's depressing.

My Brother, a friend and I passed through on a bike-hike about 1970. We rode our bicycles from Thousand Oaks through Santa Rosa Valley, through Camarillo and back towards Newbury Park by way of Potrerro [sic?] Rd. Just before Camarillo State hospital, one of the bikes got a flat. It was a home made "Chopper" bike with Class! We had a patch kit, but no pump. We repaired hole. We entered the main gate looking for compressed air. We went in the main office. My brother asked the lady behind the counter, "Do you have any air?" A normal request at a gas station, but not at a nut house! She replied, "What ward are you from?" My brother said, "Ward, shmord...I'm getting the F**K out of here!" She just sat there. We walked around looking for an air hose, pushing our bikes. We found the vehicle maintainance area and an air hose. As he is airing up the tire, a patient RUNS over and grabs the handle bars and starts chanting, very loud, "Lemme ride your bike..." over and over! A step van pulls up and as the driver steps out, his arm brushed the horn button. The patient, now diverted by the noise, runs over to the van, chanting, "Don't honk the horn, Doc!" Over and over! By this time. we are ready to split...and split, we did. We are riding towards the exit and saw two dudes laying on the grass, arms around each other, looking at us as if WE are nuts! What a trip THAT trip was! internationaldave@gmail.com

I have been there twice, the first time I was there I can definately tell the vibe of sadness, this was back in 1999 and I had no idea that this was a mental hospital until 2009. The last time I was there was just last week for a extra credit just to listen to a speech of global warming. I then again all these feeling of sadness/depressing came back and about an hour of sitting there I felt asleep, for some reason I felt so sleepy and just couldn't stay awake, and I am ussually not like that at all, I have never felt that tired during a presentation no matter how long it is. If someone would like to visit this place please let me know I want to go.. messenger is "scarrasco25" or email just add yahoo.com

just made a visit to the campus with a few friends who go to school there. Very weird vibes around the physic ward. the air definetly changes in each room. There is a door from the outside of one of the buildings that leads to the basement. this is where you can talk to the spirits. Didnt believe it at first, until i was there and heard the sounds of whispering and changes rattling. Definetly there are many who are trying to tell their story from the great beyond and we should be listening.

Absolute nonsense. People seem to need lies to cover up the  truth about what happened within the walls of Camarillo State Hospital over the years. I was a patient there in 1950, for six  months, and received 26 ECT on ward 6A. 1950 was the low point in the history of psychiaatry in the U.S. Walter Freeman was still performing lobotomies at Stockton SH, where they also had performed numerouis sterilizaton procedures. I remember first arriving from the LA "snake pit" four pointed acccompanied by a nurse. The admission unit was the scene of my first contact with the doctors and other staff for evaluation. Diagnosis was hebephrenic schizophrenia (diagnosis had been at LA Hosp paranoid SR). I was then housed on a closed ward at one end of the admission unit. I can still remember the looks of the big tech who brought food for me. I ended up on ward 6A after being taken down by techs. Thank God, my mother and a minister, Rev. Hoffman, talked to the doctor and I was scheduled for release. I returned to UCLA, graduated, and my history has been exemplary, including the publication of 5 books. The one most relevant to this subject is The Diagnosis and Stigma of Schizophrenia, which can be readily obtained on the internet. The greatest tradgedy in our family was that of my younger sister Arlene who was admitted to CAS in 1949 and had numerous re-admissions. I will never forget my visit there with my mother who came out of the ward and said she didn't even recognize her and her bed was soiled. She had received insulin coma treatments, after numerous (how many?) ECTs. She never recovered from what was done to her at CSH.  I am sure she would have recovered completely and led a good life if other outpatient treatments had been available. I hope her "ghost" will haunt those who have been silent about things that really happened at CSH. Perhaps a "reunion" of those with direct knowlege of the hospital might be of interest. A good project for the psychology department? Charles E. Harman, M.D, J.D.

I lived in newburry from 1970 to 1976 and had been driven to the beach down Protrerro Rd many times. We were told what the place was. It wasn't until 2005 that my wife and I had just visited the Lobster Tail restaraunt that we had been in the area. We decided to go up Protrerro and visit the old house when we passed the hospital, saw it was a school, and decided to drive in for a look. We took the road all the way in and stopped to look around (from the car...never got out). The bad vibes were soo overwhelming that we left. I will NEVER EVER enter those grounds again.

My daughter and I are going to visit the campus on Friday to see if she wants to go to school there. Gotta say, I'm a little freaked out by the comments. I've always wanted to visit someplace haunted. This could be it.

I was in the first CSUCI Graduating class in 2004. I am a Camarillo Native. I had visited the hospital as a kid - as one out of four people who Lived in Camarillo, worked at the hospital, we had neighbor families who did... As a kid I had many weird experiences with the living - at the hospital. Everyone wore civilian clothes - so as a kid you could not tell who was staff or "client.", If I had to choose who was the coolest group there its a tough call - it was between the "Football Helmet Guys' or the "Hockey Helmet" guys. You know the ones who were a threat to bite someone or smash their own heads into the walls. The real threat there was "the humpers" the ones who Techs would need to be separated from other clients with a crowbars, as they were humping fellow patients like a dogs.... But I spent late and LONG hours editing Video in the Art Department. At the time I worked as a tech in lab so I had master keys. I have been in EVERY building at CSUCI. I had seen surgical rooms with cranial drills and other crazy saws and weird devices - the rooms were as if they were just left and locked - as they were. 6A weird place. I know of the "spinning ghost", by "the Mock" courthouse. NOise, and the white woman. ive sensed sadness...Ive felt uneasy, Even now when I visit, There is a feeling I had in the pit of my stomach, a nervous vibe, I choose to ignore mostly. I have been to the underground 16 slot morgue where library is now, have seen the "Concrete Teaching ampitheater" used for autopsies, etc..., with huge medical light "reflector". just strange. (also the 4 slot morgue under Police Station) Hey, people were wards of the state, they lived there, they died there. No doubt peoples spirits are trapped there. There was also a Chumash sacred site, but i believe its still open space, and havent built on it. - yet. We explored one night after midnight - about 8 of us -with cellphones as flashlight. it was awesome. lots of clanging and banging from steam pipes, rooms that were still being heated by steam plant, walking around at night STILL is a little dangerous, I do admit. I got a quality education, in my own backyard. The grounds are quite beautiful. I am proud to have helped the transition of the SIte from a place of healing (yeah, right), to a place Learning. Theres other legendary sites in camarillo include the Lots- featuring Goatman - and of course the scary dairy. Most of the people on this thread may be full of doodie, but im willing to say I havent seen much out there, The history is there, the impressions are there, I just havent seen full blown apparitions. weird and vibey stuff, yeah. 3 people were murdered near the school execution style in 2004 I think?, one being a pregnant woman, who were (carjacked- or drug deal gone bad). its quite a remote location. An amazing history, some famous clients and patients. Its presumably the inspiration for song "Hotel California" by the Eagles. - see belltower cover of album. I still live in area if you REALLY need to know... email me. cmdbiz@gte.net

I went there a year ago with abunch of drunk friends to go check out the "haunting" of the back of the school which is still abandoned. We had to jump some high walls to get into the corridors inside we then split up in two groups of 5 after hearing like someone banging on a pipe constantly. Keep in mind were drunk and just really there to explore and have a good time. We following the pounding sound and it just led to the bottom of a set of stairs where there was a chair facing us and then sound stopped. Odd so we turn around head down the corridor to meet the other group passing by all the open old cells and as we pass one cell we all hear a scream from inside it and are all speech less. This is all happening near a corner next to the belltower. We meet up with the other group and take them back to where we heard the scream and to show them the chair at the corner below these stairs. As all of us are talking a bathroom door opens RIGHT next to the group and slams shut. Ten guys got the s**T scared and all jumped and left into a courtyard to be meeted by some cops. I got home and immediately read on similiar websites of the same banging sounds, and most especially that woman's bathroom that alot of people report strange things happening around it. I know what happened that night along with 10 other friends especially the bathroom door since while everyone was talking I had a good view and no one "with us" opened and slammed the bathroom door.

I recently go to CSUCI and it's more sad and depressing than scary. Just last week, I felt somebody nudge me twice, I looked around and it was no one. I feel drawn to the North Quad, it has some clinging spiritual gravitation towards it as something is calling for help.

my friends and i live in thousand oaks and have been their many times and have seen some crazy shit. most of the buildings are welded shut and the doors are locked but you could get in if you really wanted to even though i don't recommend it because the cops drive around like crazy. one of the first times we went we were looking into one of the buildings along the quad where they have the graduations and there are really bright lights in there when all of a sudden we see a short shadow run from one of the doors in the halls to the other and we freaked and left. we kinda try to stay away from the school because its so heavily patrolled, and there are other haunted places not just the buildings the patients were kept in. there are 2 that i know of other than the school itself , there is scary dairy and the slab. scary dairy is a farm that i'm still not sure what it was used for in the old days that is located on university drive its mainly a gang hangout so be carful, the slab is located their on university drive too and i believe was used as the old place to store water but is now completely empty and is used for satanic worship.out of all of the places i've been which are many ,the slab i feel is the most haunted. it is on university drive which is an abandoned road and i have had several things happen there. the first time i went we climbed to the top of it and i got insane paranoia , headache in my temples, feeling like i was going to throw up and i heard noises that are impossible to hear but when i went recently we saw visual proof. we were walking on university drive because you cant park on it without looking sketchy when we saw a mans shape walk into a ditch and disapear, the problem with this is that when we left and drove by the place we saw him last, it was impossible. their was a barbwire fence their that he would have made a great deal of noise going over which is still weird and also why would he want to crawl into an empty field? another time we went as we were driving down from potrero we saw a man walking alone far down it at 12 pm about halfway down to csuci where the road flattens out, which made no sense either because their was no car broken down anywhere and when we drove by he didn't even look back at our car , idk about you but i have never met anyone who would wanna hike that alone at that time, all i know is that there is some weird things happening there that have no explaination .

I currently go to school here and can say that the stories are true.  I myself have never seen any figures, but there is a definite presence.  My first year at school my friends and I went to "explore" our new surroundings. When searching through a building that is still no longer in use, we passed through a hallway.  That night was very cold out, but once we entered this specific hallway, the temperature IMMEDIATELY rose, it felt like 90-100 degrees.  One of my friends dorm room was part of the original "Children's Ward" and one day when we were hanging out in her room, we heard a young child's laugh, fast footsteps, then her door slammed shut.

I've tried to account this happenings to a change in air pressure, wind, or just my mind playing tricks on me.  But hearing others stories makes these happenings seem all too real.

I was a patient in Camarillo State Hospital back in 1969.  I don't know if it's
haunted, but I can tell you that it's very difficult to go back there and see
those old buildings.  It was far from being a pleasant place to be in.  I was
in a locked ward and saw a number of things that were not for the faint-hearted.
I would hope that anyone that goes there will simply be aware that it was
hell in a lot of way's for a lot of people.  I would not attend school there
under any circumstances though I'm sure it's a very fine school.

Best of everything,
R.Malone.
