Location Description:

This road is between Millstadt and Belleville off State Route 163. There are many stories about this road, such as a bridge where someone hung themselves and if you drive by there on the anniversary of this occurrence you can see them hanging from the bridge. Another one is of a house where when you drive by a ghost truck chases you. Another one that is of a house where supposedly a witch lived, that has since been torn down. WARNING: If you go on this road, be very careful, it is full of curves and hills. In fact, on the first hill and curve of the road, a car hit the tree just before the bridge and a girl was killed.

actually an old friend of mine, her sister was the one killed at the turn. they were drinking and driving too fast and the sign to warn of the curve is way too close to the actual curve. she was the only one that dies. her name was Bonnie.

I`ve been to the bridge and have an interesting story that goes with it. It was what seemed like an urban legend, which says

that a family of Mexican imigrants was hung by the father over the side of the bridge (I have found no evidence to confirm,

or deny this) and late at night you can see an apperation. For a long time the bridge on Zingg Rd. was used by a cult where

animal sacrifices were made (According to the Millstadt Police in 1995 by interview) I have not visited there in a long time,

but there were still pentagrams and such visible in 1999.

There is also supposed to be a "one eyed" dog that will trap you in the same day for 20 years (aka Groundhog Day) if it

touches you. Obvious Urband Legend. Anyway on the day that we visited, we seen nothing, but this white lab jumped out of the

creek and sure enough had one eye. That was enough to get us to jump in the van. When my buddy Derek tried to start the van

it would not start, and when it did start, it got stuck in the mud (Which was wierd because it had not rained in a long time.) Finally, we all got going. A little furthur up the road (On Saeger Rd.) is a little white chapel. Outside of it was an eerie looking rusty old hearse. We were freaked, and it looked odd, but we paid little attention. We turned around at Hertel Rd, and past the chapel again, and the hearse was gone. As I am sure that there is an explaination for everything, it was enough to scare the wits out of me!

Went down to Zingg Road this evening and found nothing out of the ordinary. It`s a very beautiful and serene road though. It is very windy and I could definitely see how there have probably been accidents out there.

We went to the bridge and there doesn`t seem to be anything ominous out there. Again it`s just very serene. A few dogs were barking in the background and the stream flowing beneath the bridge was peaceful. I`ll have to check it all out again during the night time hours.

Also went down both Hertel and Saeger roads and saw no chapel whatsoever... perhaps it has since been torn down.

I`ll be posting pictures from the expedition later on.

Also, we never did come upon the one-eyed dog but did happen to find a very friendly and very wet brown dog that came right up to the car and allowed all of us to pet it.

Got pictures uploaded today. We also went through most of the pictures looking for anything out of the ordinary and didn`t fine anything really worth mentioning. There will be a night visit in the future more than likely.

As for the crash at Zingg Rd killing my cousin, Bonnie McMurray, I was out there about 2:30 this morning doing some EVP/Orb work at the site of the crash. 17 pics were taken, only 1 had an orb in it. I`m still working on the EVP`s that were recorded. The only thing that ticks me off about seeing the textfile about "the girl killed" ... I wish they would have some respect and actually use her name.

Well, a lot of people would feel that by posting a real name it would mean disrespect for the surviving family members.

The girl who died on the curve on Zingg Road happens to be my sister, and yes, her name is Bonnie. She died NOT because of drinking--she had no alcohol in her system, so Bubbles should not be publishing untrue information on the Internet without checking a source first--namely me or one of my family members. Bonnie was not drinking nor was she the one driving. Rob Robinette was the driving and he killed not only my sister, but his own cousin, Rich Bequette. He had just gotten a car, an old beater of a car which he was not familiar with driving. He was driving about 70-80 mph from what the police told us. He either didn`t realize there was a curve ahead or didn`t plan on time. Instead he tried to turn the old car on a dime and rammed the car into a tree, which killed my sister and his cousin. My sister died at the scene. Rich died the next day when they pulled life support. The two in the front seat lived.
As for naming her, I would prefer her to remain anonymous as I don`t want her listed on a website with false information, however, since her name has already been released, there isn`t much I can do to remove it.
My sister`s name is Bonnie. She was a great person with a full life ahead of her, taken away in an instant by some teenager showing off his new ride.

Oh and as for her "ghost" walking around the scene of her death--I highly doubt she would choose to linger in an area like that. She would be around the family who loves her, especially since she had no ties to the road or the tree.
As far as being careful--that is true. It is a dangerous road.

okay 1st if all who ever is trying to tell this story is very disrespectful for one and you dont know what your talking about. Rich bequette was my brother. him and bonnie were boyfriend and girlfriend. the driver rob was NOT rich's cousin. they were just friends. richie and bonnie were in the back seat of the car and there a few in the front. the ONLY people that were drinking/drunk were the people in the front seat. Which is pretty shitty because the people that died werent the people in the wrong. and there is no ghosts of rich or bonnie. thats just people running there mouth thinking that they know stuff. well guess what you dont. and how do you think my family feels when they read comments about my brother? that is very disrespectful. if your gonna tell a story make sure you know the truth.

It's true, a girl named Bonnie did die here. She has a memorial at  bonnie-mcmurray.memory-of.com.

This is a very sharp curve and there have been many accidents here over the years. There is a white cross hanging on the tree that too these kids life.

My big sister Bonnie was one of the most amazing people on earth. Very few of you had the pleasure of knowing her. Dont talk crap about what you think or that the place is haunted by her. No it isnt. I hope to never read stupid garbage like this again. Did any of you know that she was only 16 years old? Do any of you know that I begged her to stay home with me that night and watch a movie instead of going out with her friends? She died 6 days before my birthday. What a birthday present huh? When my parents told me I didnt believe them. MY sister couldnt have been in a accident and gotten hurt.I was 7 years old at the time. Stop talking about what you think you know. Her spirit only lives on in us her family and her friends. Let her be Rest in Peace Bonnie. We all love you and miss you very much!!

I was raised in Millstadt Illinois about two miles from both the bridge and the house where the witch lived. My mother used to take us for bike rides on the country roads, she lived and altenative lifestyle and often she drank and used drugs. She would tell us the storys and sounding cool as heck to a six year old, being my older brother, and myself being five we wanted to see these places. She began taking us on bikes to the bridge. It is a very scerene place, beautiful midday sunrays in the little valley where it is located, we always appraoched the bridge from the west you had to go down a slight hill and its just a little two lane bridge. The story behind the bridge is that a man was cursed by this witch that live a short distance from the bridge, he was her lover and married at the same time so he didnt want to be with her anymore so she put some spell on him and made him kill his entire family by hanging them from this bridge. Nothing every happened to me at this bridge, I traveled the road and bridge all my life the last time I went over it was about two weeks ago, and nothing ever happened, Now the scary shit. My mom never had a problem taking us to the bridge, but like I stated early the witches house was not far away. My brother and I talked her into riding up to the driveway we did this most every dust for an entire summer, till one day mom, may have been high or drunk, but we talked her into taking us up to the house, which no longer is standing the driveway may still be there, but the house was rubble the last time I drove that way. So we went up to the front of the house it looked abandoned the wood siding was worn almost white with age, the house faced west there was to first floor window and two upstairs windows, we walked our bike around the southwest corner heading to the back of the house, halfway down on open porch began that was cluttered with metal object of some sort tools maybe, there was an feeling we all had a nervousness, we were walking about twenty feet away from the house and where rounding the southeast back corner when from behind us we heard "woman you and you children are trespassing" we turned and saw a very old women with black as coal hair that looked like very small twigs woven togehter she wore a tatered dress that was grey and full of holes. My mother pushed my brother and I forward, and ask for forgivness as she began to walk away very fast, we all hopped on our bikes and began to ride my mother told us not to look back all the way home. We never return to the house but as I got older and got a license I always drove my friends by it and told them the same story. The car accident victims you are reading in everyone else stuff should be left alone, that happened when i was a freshman at belleville west and they all were freinds stop with the stories.

I've been to the bridge, and one night some friends and I stopped on it for a second, after midnight. Then we saw headlights and got kind of scared, so we drove off. But the headlights were following us. At first we thought it was just a car going the same way, so we pulled over so they'd go around us.. but they didn't. Then we started to freak out a little more. It got closer to us and we notcied that it was a truck that had no license plates and one headlight that worked. We kept driving, and the person who was driving started going faster and the truck stayed behind us. We went into a drive way to turn around, and it did the same thing after us. Finally it just disappeared.. and we didn't see it ever again.

No Disrespect to the families who lost there Family on the bridge but if their spirits are there it is because they have unfinished business or are confused on what has happened. If it is true those of you who were family to the members of the accident should go there and light a candle and let them know that it is okay to go towards the light. those are just my opinions please dont be mad at me for what I have posted. No I dont think it is right to talk disrespectful or tell untrue things about the deceised family members but yelling and getting upset will only make things worst. that will just make them talk more about it. plus who nows maybe the spirit the people saw were another person and not the one that everyone thinks. The land is older then everyone thinks and has been used by many. and I am sure many have passed away in that area. again those are just my opinions you can errase or delete but that is my opinion take it or not

Me and a group of people went there last night. It took us forever to find the road off 163 because there is no longer a sign but there is half of a street post if you look carefully. We knew we were on zingg because of the pictures from this site. We traveled all the way down zingg and it was pitch black the whole time even brights on the car didnt seem to make it any brighter. We took the road all the way until we hit a fork but only could go one way because something was blocking the road I wanted to take. So we took the other way and got completly lost it seemed until somehow we came back to the bridge. I stopped there for a little bit to make sure i was still on the road that we just travelled down, it was there was the same grafitti on the sign that we saw comming from the other way. I was expecting to run back into 163 but it seems like zingg had other plans for us that night. I knew we were on the right road because of landmarks I when we first started to travel down the road. But almost out of nowhere came another fork. I looked over at my buddy who was helping me navigate and said at the same time wow what the hell is going on? So we both decided I should turn right and we started travelling into what seemed like the far corner of the world. There was absolutly nothing around no lights from nearby towns and not even a single farm house. We continued to press on we traveled on the same road for about 45 minutes until finally we hit a county road but still this county road didnt seem to go anywhere. We were on the county road for about 10 minutes until all of sudden BAM civilization. Like just as quickly as we "got lost" the road spit us out exactly where we needed to be. We drove all the way home once home I finally realized what time it was we were only gone for an hour and a half. All of our sense of time was completly distorted the whole time it seemed like we were gone for hours but were only gone an hour and a half max. The whole experience of zingg is just goofy (for lack of a better word). Another thing I noticed too when we got there is that I felt extremly uncomfortable. Just be carefull we werent going more than 25 the whole time and that seemed like it was too fast but then again I didn't want to go to slow something just didnt seem right the whole time.

Is this the bridge where you put your car in nuetral and it rolls back by its self? I was there last night and it did. After going over the bridge you can either make a right down a road or go straight up another hill. We went left because I had been there before, but we went left and it took us to a a driveway that had a barn straight ahead and then left was a private rocky road and right looked like someones house far not to far from the road. We turned around the first time and went back to the bridge. We did this several times. We then again went over the bridge and back down that road. We saw for the second time a car comming at us very fast. Couldnt make out what it was cause it was like 12:40 AM and we went back over the bridge and didnt see him then. Is that the truck that is a ghost truck that chases you or is that some lame guy just trying to scare people cause he has seen stories and knows everyone goes over that bridge?

hi I am Alyssa P. and i am 10 now and just here to say that some of your stories are true. I don't want to be Disrespectful to the members of the McMurray family but like, most of everyones stories are about ninety-nine percent right. the supernatural and the para normal can be pretty un-predictable I have no idea about yall's stories but heres mine.straight from the truth:

When i was about three yrs old I lived in a trailer in New Baden at the time and one day I went completely wack!!!!   I  screamed and ran to my dad  I Said "Black guy with red eyes and NO FEET!!!!He tried to play with me!!!!" My dad told me it was just my eyes playing tricks and i replied firmly "NO". Then my dad just went on with his day and he said to my mom to stop putting "Ghost Busters" On the television.after about two months i saw the same thing except i told him It tried to hurt me.Well that was the last time I saw it until I was exactly 9 yrs old.My brother and I were In our house in Belleville and we lived there since i was 5. He's 2 yrs younger than me so me and him had drawn pic's in crayon on the ledge of the staircase and i was reading them and all of a sudden the top stair creaked and the ledge moved i looked up and there it was i screamed and ran past it down the stairs and i fell and almost sprained a bone luckily i escaped with a bloody nose and an interesting story.

See the superntural can be VERY un predictable but I have another comment about paranormaL objects while I was at the bridge here in Millstadt I heard screaming twice, then I heard a dog bark four times!!and then a old rusty white truck with no license plate and one headlight on followed us and dissapeared!

                                                                               yours truly,

                                                                                        Alyssa

Does anyone know anymore local millstadt legends?  I've lived here most of my 29 yr. life, and this is interesting to me.  I hated History growing up, but local history is cool.  With enough information, i could write an article for the paper.

my name is nicole i used to live at 7622 hertel rd. in millstadt... hertel is the road after zingg.. my fiancee's parents live on zingg road and their house is haunted by a little girl... and there is a wooded area in their back yard and one a long time ago my fiancee walked out there exploring the wooded area and found a tombstone of a old married couple it was dated back to the 1800's... and on the other side of the house is more wooded area and we went out there and we found a little old log cabin with the springs of a burnt bed on the floor of the cabin and a rope hanging from the celing. i don't know if the log cabin is haunted or not. but it seems weird that a old log cabin like that is just abandoned in the middle of the woods. i have been over that bridge numerous times and not once have i seen a person hanging or some girl (bonnie) walking around... i have seen a lab dog out there though but to find out that dog belongs to a couple on sager road. but one funny thing on zingg road happened just about a month ago. i was on that road and a little red car crashed into the tree that was at the top of the hill right next to the bridge. i do not know if it is the same tree that bonnie hit but it seems a little weird that it happened there at the "haunted bridge".

Growing up in the Millstadt area for approx. 10 years, I lived a couple of miles north, at the corner of Town Hall Road and Hwy. 163.  Any and every time we would drive by what was or is Zingg Road, I would always look down that road, but never  saw a vehicle traveling on that road.  The road never had a sign indicating the name of the road.  Always looking down that road, gave me a scary and eerie feeling.  Never drove down it and never wanted to either.  Never heard of all the stories or it being haunted until just recently.  I find it very interesting, but somehow not surprising.  Very sorry for the loss of  life many years ago or what may go on now on that road.  Strange road.

Bonnie and Rich were just close friends from what she indicated to me--not a date...but at age 16 maybe those terms are interchangable. I don't believe my sister haunts that place no matter what any of you think. Nevertheless if Bonnie is somehow aware of these "legends" about her she would be tickled about the controversy this has created in her name. Hanging around a creepy road might seem appealing to the living but truly...Bonnie would much rather spend her time with us family and accept us into the other side when our time comes. Although I am not ready yet, I do look forward to that warm welcome hug from my Bobo.

Im planning on taking my team of paranormal investigators out there sometime this week. Can anyone tell me the exact location of the bridge on Zingg Rd? i have been out there and cannot see a bridge unless people are talking about the little overpass above the creek.
