Description:
Irvington is a town in Indiana. It was founded sometime in the 1800's. There is a church there that was once upon a time a house (it was added onto when it became a church) The church is on a circle surrounded by many little houses. The church use to be where a slave owner lived and all of his slaves and maids and such lived in the houses around him. If you walk by the church/house in the setting sun you can see a figure of a man either on the roof or somewhere on the church grounds. If you spend the night in Irvington you may experience several things. Some people, when they are sleeping, have reported waking up and feeling that someone else is in the room. Sometimes you will even see a young man. Also strange smells and sounds have been heard and feelings that you are not alone when you are.

I went on the Irvington tour too (interesting area) and just thought there was too many people to make it fun and the tour leader was a bit obnoxious about how quickly we were moving. The best tour I was given in Indianapolis was from Historic Indiana Ghost Walks and tours (www.unseenpress.com). The people that run it do a lot of great historical research and have some really interesting books about the paranormal.

I am not so sure about some of these stories. Some seem a bit trumped up- and I know part of the history about Irvington is wrong on the tours. Still, it is a nice part of Indianapolis.

I went on a recent tour of Irvington. It was given by someone affiliated with the Halloween fest. Much of the history and stories seemed off. I grew up in Indianapolis and I know some of the history about the area wasn't right. Some of the ghost stories seemed to be a stretch.

I live in irvington, I grew up here and know a lot of irvington history. The story at the top of this page is a little rediculous. The house being referred to is on Audubon just north of Washington. It is the former Thomas Carr Howe home. He was not a slave owner he was an elected official of Indianapolis. If anyone wants to know where to check out the haunted town, let me know.

i used to live in irvington and i can attest to the feel of the place. i used to stay out late with friends and walk home in the dark from the linwood area and multiple times i have walked through the back neighbor hoods in order to get home faster, once i entered irvington there was always a feeling i cant describe. a couple times i would walk home on cold nights and soon as i entered irvington it had gotten noticeably warmer. i gotta say if you ever find yourself in the area to walk around with maybe a friend or two because theres no feeling like the irvington feeling.
