4 Skull Rating out of 10
Thompson Creek Trail (east path)
Claremont, Ca 91711

County: Los Angeles County
WebSite: None

while walking this path in the late evening hours, strange noises that sound like scratching and footsteps coming from bushes on the sides of the trail have been heard. Also there have been reports of cloud formations forming skulllike shapes. Also, when no one is around you, sometimes shadowy figures can be seen walking behind you, sometimes hiding behind bushes. The crackling sounds from the power lines overhead don't help the experience too much, adding a deeper eeriness to this location.

Checked it out with 5 friends. Didnt` see anything just the obvious sounds of wild animals and crackling from wind and branches. There were some cold spots. If you do go, you will have to watch out for wild animals (critters and mountain lions) and the entrance is taped off and pitch black. Try to keep flashlights to a minimum until you get at least a few hundred yards into the trail. There are a group of houses just before the entrance so if the residents see you they may call authorities.

went with mother and friend. My mother who is heavly intune, per say, got the impression of a young girl, about 12-13 years old with dark hair and brown eyes, playing in the woods before there was a path, being tripped and hitting her head. how ever, it was caused by a man, who hid the body and the blood. She believes this happened 75 years ago.

I did some research and in fact there was a girl 74 years ago who did vanish into that area. She had dark hair, brown eyes, and has 13 years old.

Also in the parking lot, everyone of us just got a massive headache almost at once. When we left, so did the headaches. Also my mother and I heard what sounded like crying of a small child while no one was around.

That must have been on the west side if you are talking about the parking lot. I remember when I checked it out alone on that side, I did leave with a headache.

I went there last night with my husband and a friend. we got there from indian hill. you go all the way up past baseline and youll see a park on your right side and a sign that says thompson creek we parked in the parking lot on the right side. we started to walk up the trail on the that side then crossed the street and their was another trail. we walked down that didnt see anything really then we got to the end of that trail and crossed another street. once we got back on the trail it got really creepy the first trail had alot of houses this one didnt we didnt walk to far tell we heard a squell or a scream. we didnt go all the way through cause of mt. lions but we plan on going back. so if your going to go go to the second trail.

OK.I went to thompson creek trail and NOTHING ... its a good trail dont get me wrong for seniors and kids but not very scary at all if anything the wilderness on the otherside of the wash may have somethin to it and that says no tresspassing so the cover of night should be utilized but the trail its self isnt very interesting

I've been here with my ghost hunting group a few times. The first time I felt like something touched the top of my head. An orb was following someone in my group. I recorded a weird cat-like sound. There were some weird EMF fluctuations in one spot. It was dark and we ended up going after an hour or so. We asked some people walking the trail if they had heard of a cabin up in the hills that's supposed to bleed. They said there are no cabins up there. I would like to go explore it again.

my best friend and i went there a couple nights ago. we walked for quite a bit, partly down to where the path goes straight for a while. we got a bit creeped, but nothing really that scary. then we went again and brought my boyfriend and 2 other friends along. everything was pretty different. we were walking along, my best friend kinda slowed down a bit, i didn't think much of it. the whole time, we all felt like something was following us. so we had gotten pretty far down the trail, got to the part where all the electric towers are, where it goes straight for quite a ways, and my best friend was complaining that her back was hurting. and that it burned. she lifted her shirt up a bit and they were scratch marks going across her lower back. we were lik wtf? and then we started heading back, my bestie was crying, she was in so much pain. she lifted her shirt again, and there were more scratches across her back. we were like OMG! WTF! we had to get out of there. then all of a sudden my friend fell on the ground, frantic, pointing and said it's coming. she was freaking. i was freaking. we got her up, told her we needed to keep walking. she fell again. and started scooting backward saying it's coming. we just told her it's okay, that we're here. nothing's gonna happen to us. we got her up. she may have fell again idk. i was just trying to keep her calm. and so we got to a street, that comes right before the really dark part of the trail, going back west. so we went up that way. we got to a street, and she just fell and kinda passed out for a minute. i was yelling for her to snap out of it. she did, got up, and she was really cold. everyone put their jackets on her. and that was bout it. we got lost for a minute, trying to find a way to la puenta park. we had to walk about an hour and a half to get to the car cuz we couldn't go back on the trail. so yeah, that's my story, kinda long. sorry. but way trippy. oh yeah, and when my friend got home, her back was all bloody and bruised up. and she told me she didn't remember falling down. just that all of a sudden she was cold. she remembered seeing a man in a carridge being pulled by a horse. but idk if that's what scratched her. it's way scary. wish i could find out wtf that all was, maybe i'll go back alone or with my bf to see what happens. cuz i know she won't ever go back. the whole night i felt like somebody was watching me. i could've been just freaking myself out, but still. it was creepy. ok i'm done. peace!

I grew up in Claremont, very close to Thompson Creek and Claraboya. I practically grew up in those hills. I have had a number of odd sensations, but here is my true "ghost story" of that area. It was late on a summer evening and so stayed light until near 8:00 p.m. I was walking with my good friend, on the trail just north of where the remains of an old boy scout cabin are. About 100 yards from the cabin there is a faint trail that leads through thick poison oak to a well which is cut out from the side of the mountain, sort of like a vault cut into the stone of the mountain. It is old, man-made, and has a frame to it. It is constantly filled with cool water from a natural Artesian spring. I was on the trail between two steep hills, which was in deep shade at this point. From the corner of my eye I saw something - which was sunlit - which caught my eye: A boy, early adolescent, who was lanky, shirtless, wearing dark shorts to his knees and an old Depression era haircut (very short on the sides with a longer top). Although where he was moving, along the side of the hill towards that well, was in deep shade at this time, he was in bright sunlight as if I was seeing film of him from earlier in the day. He was moving quickly, quietly, as if playing hide and seek, and then I saw him step gingerly into the well (which is just large enough for a boy to fit). My eyes moved and followed this image. By the time my gaze stopped, I was looking at the boy "now," in the shade again, and his face was blue and he stared back at me with a frightened look. I finally had a chance to take in what I was seeing, became frightened and moved quickly out of the area down to the park. This whole image of the boy happened in the amount of time it takes to move your eyes 45 degrees. I feel like I saw residual moment in time, this boy's story. Maybe he was one of the boy scouts who occupied that cabin once upon a time, was playing with other boys, hid in the well and died there?

The KKK does Demonic Rituals?  I thought the KKK was a Christian Racist movement not Devil Woshipers,  maybe all of those documentaries about MLK that I have watched were wrong.  Maybe they were asking Satan to purify the White Race.

went up their quite a few times kinda creepy has anyone hopped over the do not enter gate off of pomelo you see the boy scout house up on hill and there property for sale and if you hop the gate and go back like 50-75 ft theirs old cars and trailer and a burnt up bus and to the left is like the corner of once was a wall. yahh its pretty creepy there. Also while my sister was there with her friend she heard a middle aged girl scream. She also has seen a lot of dark shadows as if watching her.

i was up there by the do not enter sign you were talking about. i was with mii friends, one boy and one girl, they didn't want to go to all the cars and stuff becuase it was getting really dark. so i led them a little further down the trail. we barley walked like thirty feet when in the middle of mii sentence i stopped talking, i saw a white figure, i could make out a head and the shape of a body on the other side of the sewer. it was almost like it was fallowing us. but when i turned to look it was gone. mii friend asked if i saw it. i guess she had seen it too. all three of us got this really heavy feeling on our sholders and it got hard to breath. we decided to leave. but we'll be going back, next time with flash lights and knives. always go with protection.

powerlines are more than likely causing headaches, and feelings of being followed...i believe...but this sounds easily and logically explained more than likely

I live nearby in Upland and me and my wife we're avid hikers. I've done the trail several times, even went off the beaten path. There's nothing there, trust me , we're net skeptics either, on the opposite, I wouldn't read this stuff in the first place then. All you got there is good 'ol nature and simple fear. If you go into a place with fear and expecting something to happen , you will create yourself a nice placebo effect. You want fear ? go hike in Arcadia wilderness park at night, or just late and walk around the old homes up the waterfall trail ( careful though, some have live paying tenants)

Not Haunted Everything Very Explainable. Creepy feeling of being watch comes from your brain when in extremely dark locations as a defense mechanism to make you aware of the surroundings. Tales of firefalls or strang lights can be explained by the altitude and homes with pool on the locations. Remeber the higher ground lightens the stars and clears the view for small metearites that come to earth and can reflect of trees as well as the light bouncing of the water onto the Trees. And stories of flying rocks amd seeing shadows, we spent days and trust me your in the wild area with animals and trees dont belive the hype. People hear rustling and see rocks falling while there hunting the paranormal there by turning it paranormal. Remeber to keep an open mined and true dont dismiss everything right away. Be safe guys

yes i just visited there yesturday with five other people, very eerie. i thought i kept seeing apparitions in white, and that would make sense where the kkk comes in. so we parked in the parking lot and wasnt sure which way to go. there wer 2 diff sides. but im pretty sure we took the wrong side of the trail. i think we took the west one but i wanted to take the east path. i was ready to see levatating boulders and bleeding trees, but saw nothing of that sort. just a creepy white apparition following us from behind. but it felt so real, i kept looking in front and behind us but when i look back i see the full white apparition atleast 50-70 feet behind us than kind of fades away. i was sure to keep a knife with me, u can never be too prepared about sumone creeping up on u.

To get to Thompson Creek Trail, start on Foothill, take Mills Ave. up and it will be on the left after a few minutes' drive. Trust me, I live on Mills.

I have heard a lot of stories about the trails and woods up there. My family has generations of "paranormal sensitives", so I would really love to go and investigate this area. But I am just so damned nervous and scared. I am planning to go with my fiance, his brother and a friend, but I'll admit I get scared really easily. Any advice on where to start hiking or what to bring with? I don't want anything bad to happen to us, but I do hope something good pops up like a couple of orbs or apparitions, maybe even a couple of voices.

there are two different trails right at the end of mills one is called "the claremont loop" and is not haunted it is much more of a work out than the trail and is much further into the foothills and can be scary and dangerous at night but for logical reasons like wildlife. the Thompson creek trail is right before the loop and can also be entered on indian hill, right next to the webb school. it is right at the power lines on mills. just to clear up to the people trying to find it. higginbotham park is also on the trail, and is said to be haunted.

I live just below this area a block away from the trail.  I had never heard about any of this stuff before.  I have walked and ridden my bike the on trail in complete darkness many of times.  After reading this stuff I can recall many of times when I heard strange noises and have had a complete uneasy feeling about them.  My dog is completely deaf, however he has been very frightened by something and he often will refuse to walk while in that area in the dark. While walking him through there it is almost as if he can hear and see things that I can't.  I've had to put a red safety light on him to see were he is at since it is so dark.
