I too am a Bengal resident. I know the house and it is NOT HAUNTED!!!
The current owner is being victimized by your bullshit. Leave her and the house alone. I don't care what your reason is, breaking in to someone's house is still a violation even if the house is empty.
As a matter of fact you would be wise to stay away from the area completely.
Everyone in the area is watching for any unusual activity. And you run the risk of being shot. We do not like what is happening by this bogus crap you are spreading.
I love how all of you just feel the need to break in to places -- especially VERY close to where I live. (i.e. the roads off of 44 by Bengal) Leave our quiet area alone. There is nothing "haunted" out there. Go play your kid games elsewhere.
The people who live out here chose to do so because we wanted a quiet, safe environment for our children to grow up. Vandals will not be tolerated. If you are caught Breaking & Entering, Do not be surprised to hear strange noises and sounds -- called gunshots. We do not tolerate crime in our 'neighborhood' and will do what we have to to protect each other.
Leave us alone. Play your games elsewhere.
In response to the comment posted 10/7/2011 that reads:
“um if you shot someone or a neighbor did, the law would put them in jail. argue with me or not its the law.”
I sincerely apologize if I am interpreting this wrong, but it sounds as if whoever posted this is warning the neighbors that it is against the law to shoot someone.
If that IS what they meant, I would like to remind everyone who has traveled to see this house that trespassing on private property is ALSO against the law.
No one wants to threaten a stranger and no one wants to feel the need to keep their firearm within reaching distance for fear of an intruder. However, we have the right to use that firearm and whatever means necessary to protect our home and our families. Shooting someone is not against the law when it is in self defense. I AM NOT POSTING THIS AS A THREAT. I merely wanted to point out the hypocrisy of the previous post.
Everyone, regardless of whether you live in city, town or out in the country, EVERYONE wants to feel safe and comfortable in their home. You want to trust your neighbors and be able to lend a hand to them if they should need one as all too often we will find that we will be the ones needing a hand one day and we will have to rely on those friends to help us out.
I do not post this to read as a threat to anyone; that is not my intention. I simply hate worrying about an elderly neighbors’ welfare all because someone driving through our town on a road detour fabricated a story and posted it so his or her friends could read it. This house was never owned or rented by the Perkins family; no one died in this house; it has been left empty because the homeowner wants to hang on to the memory of her parents and her childhood there for as long as she can and having the house still standing and in her possession must help her deal with that. Those that have lived around here for years feel very personal about this as we can easily relate to her situation. Perhaps you can too.
If you truly love looking for haunted places I have no problem with that, it must be a fascinating and thrilling hobby, but if you want others to respect you, you must show respect to those that might seem to stand in your way. We have our reasons and no one should get hurt over something so like this.
Driving by and looking is one thing, but please do not stop and please respect the NO TRESPASSING signs and stop harassing this homeowner. And yes, the house is occupied by MANY wild animals and it is not an exaggeration to point out that you would not want to find yourself in a room with rotten floorboards, rusty nails and a startled groundhog!
Hey, Einstein, they are called RACCOONS! And the ones in the basement windows and on the porch are called GROUNDHOGS! That's what happens when a house sits empty; animals make it their home and moronic immature idiots with too much time on their hands make a toy of it.
Want to know more about the house? IT'S PRIVATE PROPERTY. Nothing more should need to be said other than the story that some obvious brainiac invented just to have something to post on the internet has caused the innocent owner and neighbors a lot of unnecessary grief, not to mention placed future "followers" in danger. Let's see, paint peels off and wooden siding rots on a neglected house, wonder what happens to the floorboards? Hope you guys have good insurance to cover your medical bills when one of you falls through the floor or gets bitten by a raccoon. Ever see what a groundhog does when it thinks it's cornered? Hope those neighbors some of you are threatening for running trespassers off private property are close enough to hear your calls for help!
Grow up and do something positive in your own community and leave ours alone!
