Location Description:

There have been reports that a ghost named "Helen" haunts the place. She died of influenza in the epidemic of 1918 and her parents donated a grandfather clock, which used to be in her dorm. Students say sometimes at night the her spirit leaves the clock, plays the piano in the parlor and stands by kids beds and pulls covers off of them.

My sister in law used to live in Helens old bedroom, where my brother spent several nights at. There are several things that both have encountered, but the strangest one of all was when my brother and sister inlaw were in the room with two other people. They were talking about Helen, and my brother said something like screw Helen, at that moment a picture on the wall hanging above my brother struck him on the head.

I went to Coe.. class of 2002 and during my time at Coe, Voorhees Hall was gutted and remodeled. Before the remodel, most of the Helen stories had something to do with the water in the showers turning cold all of a sudden, or lights in rooms turning off. After the place was remodeled, most of those stories stopped. It turns out the building just had old plumbing and old wires. I haven't heard much of Helen lately and I still have a few friends there.

I'm an alum from 1997-2001 and lived in Voorhees for 2 and a half years.  My friends and I probably have enough Helen stories to write a book!

I am currently a student at Coe College and live on the floor that Helen lived on. I have had the shower turn hot and cold on me, but other than that I haven't had anything else happen. Other girls that I know that lived on third floor, where the infermery was, have had differnt things happen such as electronics being turned off and on. I have know girls that have been locked out of their singles while the keys were still inside.  I have also heard rumors about text messages being deleted from people phones. The grandfather clock was also moved out of the building and to another building. Supposedly a girl saw a figure of a girl while at that building during work study. Just recently I learned that there is a possibility that her diary is in the attic of our building and that their used to be a dumb waitor that was taken out and now the attic is unreachable, but she stays here because she wants her diary.

I lived on 3rd floor Voorhees in '97. During that time I had heard the rumors about Helen and did not think much of it. One night late I had to use the restroom, as I reached the bathroom I looked down the length of the Chi Omega hall and saw a light see through figure round the landing going down the stairs. Freaked out I peed and went back to bed. Also in my room I had two small ceramic angels one a boy the other a girl. I had the angels arranged so their lips touched as though they were kissing. When I would come back from class the girl would be turned so the boy would be kissing her cheek instead. I would turn the girl back to her original position, this "game" repeated a couple times before finally I taped the figures to the surface they were on.... come back..turned. The creepiest part is I lived in a single and always locked my door when I left. Needless to say I packed the angels away never to display them again. I dont remember my room number now, it has been so long, but it was the single directly above the main (middle) entrance into Voorhees from the Quad. So yes Helen is there, but she means no harm.
