This place is now locked down thanks to the god dam government!! Anyways this place looks sick full of griffiti, but also spooky. On my behalf I don't believe its haunted through personal experience, I live down the street. But one thing for sure is it'll be a crazy trip to go there with ppl on some sort of drug.

I can assure you that this tunnel is legit... it is real. It is at Wingate park, it will be on the East end of the park on the side where Grand Ave is. To give you a decent idea as to what you are looking for I found the tunnels entry point on google maps, but understand that the tunnel has a giant and extremely heavy gate covering it. The time I`ve been in there I went with a group of people, total of 5. We were lucky to find the gate open with a decent sized boulder, now even with a good flashlight this place was freaking dark! I`m talking real, real, real dark. You will not be able to see your feet let alone your hands, and if you haven`t walked in that type of situation, it`s a total trip. We ended up walking through the tunnel for a good distance, I`d say 10 minutes in, and another few minutes through an alternate tunnel inside there that was to the right of us, which
kept getting smaller and ended up going to the the surface street, so we turned back and walked out. It`s a real crazy place, we`d hear certain things, but that`s just cause it`s a tunnel, everything reverberates in there. All in all, it`s a real place, a real trip... be very careful if you do decide to enter, cause you might get stuck in that sucker with someone removing whatever is holding the gate open... the following link to google maps is of exactly where you need to go to enter the tunnel.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&q=parks&near=West Covina, CA&fb=1&ll=34.092087,-117.870128&spn=0.000829,0.001824&t=h&z=19&om=1

(see where the big tree is creating a lot of shade in the map? In essence that shaded area is where the entrance is.)
Now once you notice the bridge and you start crossing it and you look to your left if you are going westbound into the park you will notice the gate and opening to a tunnel. I wish I knew when the supposed sacrifice took place, cause this seems like an irrigation tunnel that doesn`t seem to be in use. And also to be honest with you, who knows how long this thing goes for, I mean, less than a minute after walking in the light from the entrance went away, so walking in total darkness even with a flashlight left me feeling disoriented so I can never tell or feel how far I went through the tunnel. All in all, even if there is no Zelda, this place is def creepy and cool.

Me and a couple freinds wanted to try it out so we went under the locked gate which is now propped up by rocks and started walking. At first it was graffiti and darkness. There are places with tunnel and places with no tunnel. Then we heard noises and laaughter so we booked it. Fucking scary as shit.

The drainage tunnels in Wingate Park are certainly spooky, but no way were they around in the "early 1900`s" like the legend says.

i thought the tunnel was on holt, me and a group of friends went down into a tunnel on holt and grand. At the end of the tunnel there is a gate that is up and has about 1.5ft of opening you can crawl under. Someone has also tagged the word "zelda" at the very end. Nothing spectacular.

This was a place for students to go to when they ditched highschool at Wingate Park. I have been here numerous times, but nothing creepy other than the dark...or the chance a homeless person is in there. Not sure where this legend came.

I've been thru the tunnel... the one on grand and holt. Going into the NorthEast side, It's a good 100-150 ft stroll where ur stooped down to 4.5 feet. Then it hits a midsection or room with pipes and a manhole that leads up to Grand. This is where the supposed sacrifice took place. Then out the other end is a bigger tunnel where you can walk almost upright at about 5.5 feet. After about a good 150 yd stroll the end is this large gate. Never found out where it led to though. The place is HELLA spooky. There was a group of us of about 10-12 once and we got scared shitless when we heard and "otherworldly" yelp. We ran like hell and me and a friend bonked our heads into the concrete walls cause it was so dark. It was almost like being in one of those Halloween haunted houses... only it was real.

Zelda was sacrificed in the room. About 150-200 ft into the tunnel. BEWARE! The tunnel will disorientate you. It is pitch black. The darkest dark. You will hear her wispers and cries as well as the ringing bell. DO NOT GO IN ALONE! You will go insane. IT IS NOT THE WINGATE PARK TUNNEL. That is the wrong tunnel. ZELDAS is located on grand avenue right after you pass under the 10 freeway. ZELDA's spirit is trapped in the tunnel.

Aww fooey! The tunnel - which IS on Holt and Grand - is just plain scary looking but thats it. When you're inside it IS true you hear what sounds like whispers but it's most likely the wind. You also will encounter a loud, distant, sporadic, banging sound that brings to mind some madman banging a sledgehammer in the dark. I figured out that it cars on the surface street running over a manhole covering a drop attatched to the tunnel. By the way, has anyone found a news article or report about the murder victim? I hear alot of people saying the murder took place around early 1900s but that storm drain doesn't appear to be built from around that era. I would say that if you can prove what year that storm drain was built, you can check any crime records after that particular year pertaining to a murder or a girls corpse found and POOF! You can either prove or disprove the legend. Most likely it's just some spooky story Charter Oak, Northview, or South hills students fabricated while ditching. Hate to kill it for everyone...wait. No I don't. but I'll tell you what. Even with my skeptical mind it's still scary as f**k!

Zelda should be respected and her ledgend upheld. The ledgend of Zelda is no highschool ditching story. She was brutally murdered in the tunnel by a cult around 1930. Go into the tunnel alone and spend the night in the room where she was murdered. At 2:47 am she will appear in ghostly form. Rumor has it a guy who did it is now in a state psychiatric facility. You have to go alone and spend the whole night in there. In the dark. no flashlights.

we used to hang out in there when we were teens. There was a group of us, about 15 teens that entered once. Coming from the holt/grand entrance we had just passed the "midway" room when we heard that "yelp" and the ringing. There was one girl in particular that was with us. But she had just started hanging out with us that night. Anyway when we heard the noise we all got disoriented and ran in different directions and got seperated. I ran into something and got knocked out along with two others. I woke up and we were outside the holt/grand entrance and there was only 14 of us. We all rendevoued at someone's house and tried to tally up everyone and the girl was missing. No one knew who she was...and we all assumend she was friends with someone BUT NO ONE KNEW HER!!! If someone reads this and was there that night please confirm it. We dont know what happened to her and we never said anything we were afraid we might get in trouble. None of us ever went back there. PLEASE DO NOT GO THERE... it is EVIL

It only seems to happen to groups of more than 10.  When i was a teen in the 60s we went in there through the grand and holt entrance. Same thing happened to us there was about 13 of us.  We passed the midway room and then we heard someone scream or "yelp"... like someone getting hurt really bad.  I though it might've been one of us but we ran like hell and five people got knocked out.  But they said someone/something hit them but every1 was accounted for.

Can you guys help me with the grand/holt entrance. Where is it exactly and what does it look like?

I also am not sure if I found the right tunnel at wingate. We went there, parked in the lot next to grand and saw a rocky area with a huge gate. On the other side of the gate was a lot of grafiti and a tunnel that went as far as we could see. We tried to open the gate but couldnt even though there was no visible lock.

Anyone that can help me please post here or message me.

In 1994 myself and 2 of my friends from High School went to the tunnel.  My friends mom told us about it.  She has lived in the area her whole life and she told us stories of kids going to the tunnel as a dare and some of the legend.  One night we went to go check it out.  It was just the 3 of us but we went anyway.  We found the entrance just past the 10fwy on Grand.  None of us drove at the time so we walked from West Covina, we headed out around 11:30p so by the time we got there is was around 1am.  We only had one flashlight and it was really, really dark.  The tunnel had a weird smell to it and there was this constant slight warm breeze coming from down the tunnel hitting us in the face.  The further we got from the entrance the darker it got and the small flashlight didn't do much good.  We were about 15min in when we heard the first sound.  It was a dense thud like a hammer hitting concret.  We all stopped.  We knew it wasnt any of the cars you can hear above you, it came from further down the tunnel.  Way down the tunnel.  We thought about turning around but we decided to keep going.  The tunnel was getting smaller and my friend Robbie had to get ahead of us to lead the way since he had the flashlight.  He got to a large metal door.  The door was very old, looked older that the tunnel itself.  My friends and I tried to pull on the latch but it was rusted shut and looked as if it hadn't been opened in years.  After trying to get the door open for about five minutes or so we decided to give up and head back.  We made it about halfway through the tunnel when we heard the heavy metal door swing open slowly.  We turned back to look but couldnt see anything even with the flashlight.  We decided we needed to get out of the tunnel fast.  We picked up the pace but the tunnel was small and the damp floor made it hard to go to fast.  I heard a little girl's cry.  It was faint and fast but I know I heard it.  I looked back towards the back of the tunnel and I saw the faint flickering of candle light.  I started to run.  I tripped on the wet floor and caused my friends to fall and we dropped the flashlight breaking it.  My friends managed to get up faster than I and kept on running in the dark towards the entrance.  As I was getting up off the floor I heard footsteps coming from the tunnel, small footsteps of a child.  The light from back in the tunnel was getting brighter and the footsteps were getting closer.  They also seemed to be moving at a quicker pace and I heard the crying a lot clearer now.  By then I was alone in the tunnel now, my friends had left fast and didn't look back.  I got to my feet and started to run.  Tears started to stream down my face as the girls crys turned to screams.  I could feel her right behind me.  Her crys were very sad as if she was crying for help but I wouldn't turn around to look.  I did not want to believe I just wanted to get out.  I could feel her grasping at my shirt and her crys went from sad to angry.  I could see the entrance to the tunnel just ahead and I could feel light coming from behind me like a bright camp fire.  Her cries turned to screams and she said "Stay with me."  I barely mad it out and I just kept on running, I ran straight home not stopping the whole way.  Just short of 5 miles.  I never spoke to my friends about what happened, we never spoke again after that day.  And I've never went back to that tunnel.  DO NOT GO.

We are thinking of going back tonight with flashlights but we dont really know where the entrance is anyone care to help us out?

No, believe me this is some legit stuff. My friends and I went to this place cause one of my friends had been there before. We managed to get to the tunnel and in the middle was somewhere you could go into and we had 5 flashlights and there were 6 of us. When we got there, we heard this noise and it sounded like a GONG! and it could not be a car above because a car would go "Clunk Clunk"...that didn't happen and it was so sporadic. Then as we went into the tunnel the sound got harsher and louder and then it was soo cold in there,as if someone had put us right under an air vent. After one GONG noise that was serving as warning we all ran out of there, but we stood by the enterance and as we shown the flashlight down the tunnel there was the moan of a man. It was so scary and we all ran out of the tunnel. Legit stuff right here.

me and 5 friends went on a thursday. we went to the one on grand and holt. we had to trespass to get to the entrance of the tunnel, which was where the bars where. we had to crawl under it get inside of the tunnel. it was brod daylight, we read all the grafitti which had all the legends of zeldas tunnel. i read one that said "move now" which got us all scared so we started walking further down the tunnel when we stopped to read more grafitti and i heard footsteps behind us. we thought it was one of my friends trying to scare us so we just ignored it, and kept reading the grafitti. untill we heard a girl wine a little. that's when we got freaked out and started picking up the pace. but we still wanted to know more about the legends so we walked about 5 feet and stopped to read more. my friend that was the last one said she felt someone tap her shoulder lightly. we all just said "fuck that" and ran. then we got to the point where the tunnel started to get smaller. i was the bravest so i was the one who was at the end this time. while we were running, i still wanted to read the graffitti so we stopped for a little and read all the legends. i was still on the end when i heard chanting of a little girl saying "stay with me" and loud footsteps. we started running for our lifes, no one had a flashlight so we just had our phones for light. it wasn't that bright so we couldn't see where we were going. i was still on the end when i felt a tug on my shirt. i got so scared i started running even faster when i tripped and clinged onto my friends shirt causing both of us to fall. i got up quick and ran ahead of her. we were about 7 minutes into the tunnel, so we didn't know when it would end. my friend who lead us said it was just our minds playing tricks on us and he still wanted to read all the graffitti. i was behind him because i was so scared, i looked back at where we were coming from and i saw light flashing. he saw it too so he knew it wasn't just my mind. we all ran as quick as we could. we all heard the girl say "don't leave me" which made us even more freaked out. we kept running till the end and we all made it out safe.

it was really scary! don't go alone. but it was quite an experince!

Beasts real name was (is) Carlos. He used to hang with a guy named Brandon Wick, and a bunch of other scumbag psy losers. All self proclaimed satanists, and all psys . We used to drink and smoke weed in these tunnels in the mid 1990's ALL THE TIME, and the worst thing that ever happened there was we would occasionally get in fights with the FAKE 18th street "strangers". there are weird noises in there but nothing too odd. The tunnel that we understood to be Zeldas wa on badillo and grand, just west of grand, but it startde in the wash. to get there you have to go to wingate park, walk all the way through that tunnel until you get into the wash. Follow the wash for about 1/4- 1/2 keeping to the left, until you get to another tunnel. THAT is where the zelda tunnel is at. Or if you aint afraid of barbed wire you could park in the macdonalds parking lot, hop the fence by th dumpster on the badillo side, and climb down the ladder into the wash and you're there. The tunnels themselves are VERY old but have been retrofitted throughout the years. So, the original story may very well be true, but the place is not haunted. At least as long as you refuse to believe in nonsense...

i went there soo many times...me and at least 4 other friends go through. everyone is bullshitting, it literally takes 5 mins to get through (i timed it) we usually enter through the gated side and exit out the other end. you need to walk through someone's back yard to enter the gated side. i went on the tunnel at grand and holt. i've never gone alone. you always hear banging, but thats the cars above you. seriously guys, stop bullshitting. its a pretty cool thing to do and i think everyone should experience it. me and my friends have gone in there at least 4 times this week. in fact, we went there today. so its safe, trust me. no "ghosts."

I stumbled on this site by accident while I was trying to find out if there were any news articles on me. In the 1990s, I was kidnapped from my home and brought to the mountains by a man that used to work as a maintenance man for my family. The first stop was at Grand Ave and he took me to a hotel there where we stayed for the first 12 hours or so. He performed satanic type prayers and attacks on me there. The next day he took me to the mountains where more attacks took place. I am now a grown adult but since a few years ago, feel I am still possessed or jinxed in some way. I wanted to know if they had done articles on the internet about it, but I couldn't find anything but this site. I find it to be odd this happened at the same part of where the rituals began. It was a horrific crime and a few doctors were surprised i was able to survive the attacks. However, I did. I was fine for 10 years but on the anniversary I kind of went through this cycle of bad stuff (just like in his rituals he told me if I lived I would only have 10 years to 'live from evil' and after that I would be filled with evil happenings.
This is the most I ever spoke of the crimes (besides what I told authorities) even my parents didn't hear all of what happened.
I find it odd that I was the same age as this person from the 1900s and that still people can hear her cry. I would be haunting every one if I died too because I can't tell you how many people watched him hit me in daylight and push me in the car against my will and no one called for help except one 17 year old girl that worked at the cleaners on Grand Ave and the 10 freeway. Even the owners of the deli (they pretended they couldnt speak english when the detectives went there) watched this guy pummel me in their store when I was trying to escape. They let him take me back in the car. The police didn't show up and he was able to continue the satanic prayers and beatings.
That is probably why she is haunting.
How can I find out more on this?

I knew this guy, Beast. He was from Charter Oak high school. He and several other pot heads decided they were devil worshipers or whatever because they had something called the Devils Bible... Not sure if that was the real name or not. But he would just sit around reading it all the time. He was a very relaxed and chill person. Beast, Brandon Wick, my self and several other people took a tour of the place. As we walked they told us of the Legend of Zelda. This was round 1994-1995. We walked the entire length of the tunnels that begin in Windgate park, and continue under grand ave. These tunnels were very creepy, but as much as I anticipated seeing something I never did. The legend of Zelda was spray painted on the walls, as were the letters C.H.U.D.S. The place was rank, and I never seen so many roaches in my life. We also walked the other tunnel mentioned on this page, on the corner of Holt and Grand. I never saw any apparitions, or anything that would cause me to question my beliefs. We did however find the Steel door way where the girl was supposedly tortured and killed by way of the Grand & Holt entrance. The door was cracked open, and it appeared that several transients had crapped on the floor. Again, nothing frightening about it accept the smell. The Windgate opening has sense been welded shut. But the Holt & Grand entrance can still be accessed. This was my experience, maybe others are telling the truth. But unfortunately I never was chased by a spirit... Wish I had a cooler story, but their it is..

I grew up down the block from Zeldas. I grew up riding my bike near then and have explored everything in this neighborhood. The tunnel begins near the retirement condo's and ends in my childhood friends backyard. During jr high we used to walk from the beginning of the tunnel off grand to the middle "manhole" area, then proceed all the way to the steel bars. During that walk we never experienced anything.. Skip ahead to my childhood friends camping party.. We camped in his backyard and the next morning I WILL NEVER FORGET!! He said "Hey guys, wanna go say hi to Zelda?" We said "Sure!".. We walked through his backyard, a short hike, to the steel bars. Peering into the tunnel it was pitch black. There were about 4 of us male kids. He picked up a rock and said in a friendly voice into the tunnel, "Here Zelda", then underhand tossed the rock. You could hear the pebble reverberate against the tunnel walls. All us kids waited for about 2 seconds, then we ALL heard a faint female voice say "Thank youuuu".. I ran like hell... maybe I passed everyone. I never walked into the tunnel again.. What a trip! :)

It's just a storm drain that goes from La Puente to West Covina. Nothing Special.

It's just a series of storm drains, that's it. I've been through it many times working for the city and county. The only thing you'll run into is homeless people and kids trying to scare you.
