Location Description:

It's located in Morningside near the collage and it has been in a magazine. It has been investigated before. There has been sightings of a Red glow in the upstairs. The workmen who did some remodeling there would always find there tools in the basement in the mornings. The birds they tried to keep would always die on them and the dog would never go into the house. In the middle of July the attic would be so cold that you could see your breath. The house has been surrounded by death. There has been many murders there. There has been a count of seven entities there.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	I grew up a block away from Lefler's housein Morningside. It is on Garretson Ave across from Lonfellow School. The home originally was the stop for the street cars that ran in the turn of the century. The strange happenings that happened in the late 60's and early 70's were a couple of sightings and a experience by one of my older sister who was friends with Jluie Lefler. Her experience was one time while they were in the kitchen making food she complained that the cat was running between her legs and rubbing up a gainst her while she was busy making something. Jluie said that was impossible as they did not have a cat. Another instance was when they were in th living room watching TV and alone in the home. All of a sudden the washing started running and they looked at each other and went into the laundry room. The washer was running but noone started it. They couldn't turn it off so they unplugged it and it continued to run. Needless to say my sister wouldn't go over to their house anymore. Another couple of instances were told to us wbout Mr. Lefler. The mom and dad were home with another couple p[laying cards and a marble came flying across the room, hit the radiator and landed on the dining room table. Another time Mr. Lefler saw a lady in a blue dress walk out of their bedroom and down the hallway. There have been a couple of deaths associated with the home. In the late seventies or early eighties one of the girls ex boyfriends choked a male friend to death in his car while he was in the driveway. I have other personal experiences about other places in Sioux City that I will write about in the near future.

Yes, a 16-year-old guy named Bruce V. was killed in his truck in the driveway in May 1977. It actually was not an intentional murder but more of an accident. I knew Bruce as he was about my age and went to East High.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	i can see this house from my kitchen window...i sometimes used to get "creepy feelings" or bad vibes from that house. since it's now a duplex,it's not as bad as it used to be.. i've lived here or near here(orleans ave) for several years. personnally,the only weird thing i can report is, it was a freezing cold nite(sub zero) about 10 years ago. around 2am. i was actually driving home, and the front door was hanging wide open . the entire house was dark,except just enough light illuminated from somewhere with-in the house, so it was very clear that door was wide open. never forgot that,it was spooky!! does anyone have any more info about this house to share...like i said,i can see lefler house at anytime,out my kitchen window...does anyone remember it being called "garretson manor"?

AnonymousVisiter	I attended Longfellow Elementary School for six years. I had a friend that lived in the Lefler house after it was remodeled as a duplex. While she was living there, my father, who owns a remodeling business, did some work for my friend's mother. When my father would come home from working on the house, he would tell me that he felt "something was just not right" about the house. He would find his tools in other rooms with the door locked, or tools that he remembered putting upstairs would be in a room in the basement that he hadn't even been in. My dad doesn't really believe in paranormal activity, so for him to say that the house gave him the creeps says alot.

AnonymousVisiter	OMG! i once lived in that duplex upstairs! our 2 boys were put 2 bed in their bedroom each night and every morning we found them either at the end of our bed on the floor sleeping or in the livingroom...they wouldnt sleep in the back bedroom upstairs...donno why. once i took the boys 2 grandmas house 4 the night and my husband was working a new job, i was getting ready to go to his job a (restraunt) an as i was putting on my makeup i heard like furniture being moved around up in the attic? which is impossable because there is no floor up there, just rafters and insolation. i had to move my sofa to get to the attic door, no1 ever goes or uses it... i turn the light on, went up the steps to look, nothing or no one up there, came down, turn the light off and lock the door push sofa against the door and didnt hear any more. i then heard a car drive into the driveway, so thinking my friends who live down stairs came home, i heard the car door shut, keys rattle in the door and it open and shut, i ran down to ask them for a ride, but no one was home...no car in the drive way, i called a cab, it came to pick me up, as the cab drove away i looked up at the attic, the lighht was on? when i returned home with my hubby it was off.

AnonymousVisiter	When I lived there it was after it was turned into a duplex, upstairs. One afternoon a couple of girls knocked on the door and said they had heard about it being haunted and wanted to come in and check it out. They didn't see or feel anything in the upsatirs but they felt something evil in the bastment and it told them to get out. After they came up from the bastment they headed out the door of the downstairs appartment, and i was right behind them, they got the door shut behind them, but as soon as the door was shut, I had it open and they were gone. The outside door and screen door was still shut, if they had gone out them, for sure the screen door would have still been closing. Me, my wife and the downstairs couple ran outside to look for them, but they were nowhere to be seen. There wasn't enough time for them to run or get in a car or a neighbors house, we were out the door immediately behind them. I also had the same happen with the attic light. One time my wife and I were downstairs playing cards with the couple who lived there and our boys were playing with their kids and one of them looked in the kitchen and said "look at the kitty", and they didn't have a cat and neither did we.

I used to live in Sioux City myself, and heard many strange stories about the "Leflur house." I went to Longfellow Elementary, too, and always heard of other boys that were going to go check out the haunted house. I never went. Never had enough courage to get close enough to it.

AnonymousVisiter * CA	when my cousin and her husband moved back from California in the 80's, they rented the apt upstairs in this home. They had no idea that it was supposed to be haunted, but they were experiencing some very weird things in that house. 1 night in the bedroom, they had the fan going and she got cold so she asked her husband to turn it off. He went and turned it off. A short while later she woke him again and said it's cold in here , please shut the fan off and he said i thought I did, so again he got up and turned it off. Yet after the 3rd time she woke him to turn it off, he couldn't believe it and he unplugged the fan from the wall, but that didn't stop the fan from starting up on its own again. Another time when they woke up in the morning the table in their kitchen or dining room (I cant remember) was completely flipped upside down. They went to the library and researched this house and realized that there were plenty of articles and hauntings affiliated to this property.

AnonymousVisiter ONTARIO CA	I lived next door to the house in 1975 when I was about 10 and remember Cindy Lefler and Robbie Lefler. Robbie was my age and told me stories about a family being murdered in a small room behind the furnace in the basement. I remember very well the two us going down to look in the room. We went behind the furnace and saw an old door nailed and paddle locked shut. We both turned and ran out. Also, stories of the owner seeing an apparition on the stairway and something about a marble flying across the room.

AnonymousVisiter ONTARIO CA	I lived next door to this house when I was 10 years old in 1975 and had a friend who was a grandson of the owers who stayed there quite a bit. He told me a story at that time about a whole family being murdered in the basement in a small room behind the furnace. One day we decided to go down a check out the room. We walked around the old octopus furnace and saw an old wooden door nailed and paddle locked shut. We both just panicked a ran. It was very creepy.
