reports of an overwhelming feeling of evil. Mist has been seen rising from some of the graves in the cemetery behind the church. Voices that were not heard by the people visiting the area have been picked on voice recorders. Orbs have also been seen in the church, in the cemetery and in the wooded area surrounding the church. December 2003 Update: was burnt down last month by 2 kids.

I was there last week. I also visited before the chapel has burned down. i believe the soul at unrest is Elizabeth Shephards. There has been some form of black magic performed there, with no respect for the dead. I found 5 poppets, four at the cornerstones of the church. I do not, repeat do think, these people know who they are dealing with, Elizabeth seems to be very upset.

I have been to souls's a few times.People dont realize that after the church was abandoned that satanist took it over and held their meetings there.What caused the fire no one really knows.Fire departments speculated but no true answer to the theory was ever concluded.ZThere is a presence there and if you cant feel it you might want to get yourself checked lol. Do not be fooled by here-say and myths..there is black soccery in that area..Please be cautious when visiting.And please announce yourself to the spirits and let them know u mean them no harm or ill will. Or your next visit maybe at your own home.!!!!!!!!!

my name is amanda g and i have been to soul chapel many time`s and i have felt stuff like sadness and anger...i`v not been in 2 years why you ask well me and a friend went down there and so help me god we seen 2 kids playin in the road i looked at my friend and said well look`s like there is more people up here and i remind you my head was turned for 3 sec and the kids was gone....we went up there lookin for the kids and nobody was up there it scared me that bad..

As a sceptic, I must say that the entire area of Somerset is above caverns. This is most likely what is causing the "mist"...it's where the cold air is meeting the warm air..happens in mom and dad's yard all the time..not haunted!

Me and my husband went out to Soules Chapel yesterday not knowing what the area was. One of my online buddies told me to just go out there, didn't give me any details. So I didn't even know it was a cemetery and old burned down chapel. When we got there I was really surprised at what it was. We got out of the car and the feeling of sadness was so overwhelming it almost knocked me down. I wanted to cry the whole time I was there. The place has a lot of mystery to it that is for sure. I do plan on going out there several more times because I feel a pull to the place. I did not feel any anger or evil coming from the area, only sadness.

There's so much to say but yet so little. i have been to souls a many times looking...searching for what i believe to be spirits. we have had many experiences but none were of any harm. I was there tonight and when we asked for proof of presents we heard faint wind chimes. there is no wind chimes with in 250 yards of the cemetery. we heard them just above where the church used to be. as we asked a second time we yet again received the same noises with no wind. not even two minutes later the wind began to blow and not one wind chime was heard. i do believe this place to have paranormal activity. We only get results when we show respect. Please...for everyone's sake...show this place respect.

We had a cpl friends to go out at Soules Chapel, and come back and 1 friend had 3 scratches on his chest in an X form. Well me and my husband decided to go out there wit 2 of our friends and an indian woman, we took things to investigate such as a camera and things in that sort. Well we where there for at least 30 minutes and didn't see or feel anything wierd. I do admit that I was scared, and I did feel the sadness, but u got to remember people are dead, and to know that they are dead will sadden anyone. Well as we went to leave the woman that was behind us in the other car flashed her lights, and our friend got out, willingly leaving his car door open. Well there was no wind what so ever that night. As soon as he got out of the car, the car door swung all the way open. As our friend returned to the car, he got in and shut the door. He went to put the car in drive and we got maybe 2 feet at the most, and the car slammed itself up in park and died on us....Well we got back home and me and a couple of friends where standin out by the car, when all of a sudden i got a tingling feelin in my finger tips when I got close to the car, but when I would step away my fingers tips felt normal. And for the scratches on our friends' chest, we have not been able to determine whether it was so careless joke or the actually paranormal experience out at Soules Chapel. So who knows about the parnormal of Soules Chapel? Maybe it's true, but then again maybe it's not?

ive been to soules chapel plenty of times and i have seen some weird shit. There is a house back in the woods and i will never go in that house again. Me and a couple friends went in there the time was around 1030pm. We got in the house and no soon as we got in there we heard a voice that sounded like it was carried on the wind saying get out! What ever it was we didnt stay to find out. When we got outside the house my friend to a picture of the doorway and we saw a glowing green orb. So i wouldnt recommend anyone go in that house.

i do know that souls chappel is haunted i have been there many times my self and iam scared to death to even be driving down the road because i feel like there are eye's all over me and most of time when i do go down there i see an old man standing on the side of the road shaking his head in dissapointment like we should be going down there you see i believe that i can see and here sprits dont believe me asks my friends im never wrong about anything... i have never been in the house but i dont ever have the courage to go there either lol

March17, 09 At approximately 1:30 me and my friend was heading to Soules Chapel considering it is a very foggy night. To our suprise we didn't even make it to the entrance of the cemetary when my light in my vehicle came on. There is no way that my friend could have turned it on because you would be able to hear it click and I would have seen her turn it on. After that, we did not stay or go to the premises I turned around and got out of there as quick as I could!

About a year ago me and my friends went out to souls chapel and my friend drove us in his jeep. we got there and the car just shut off, and it would not start, we didnt have any signals on our phones, so we got out of the car and walked around, i heard some voices, and we thought we heard someone talking in the woods, we all stayed together scared. there were siz of us and we finally tried our phones and got through by then we were able to leave and the car started but i never went back it scared me so badly my friend had me on his back carrying me around.

I'm Lindsay Phillips and i have been blessed with the ability to see and hear spirits. I'm what you'd call a medium. For most of my life i accepted this gift. Until i went to Soul Chapel. I did alot of research into the place itself and found out that the old folk tale goes like this- There was a preacher in the Soul Chapel church that was secretly obsessed with the Occult..Satanism..whichever you prefer. He would draw pentagrams on the floor of the church and cover them with rugs after they were done with their rituals. Sometimes, they sacrificed small animals, other times it was a human sacrifice- hence some of the graves in the graveyard in front of where the church used to stand. When the town of Somerset found out what he was doing, they hung him in the church to show everyone what would happen if they followed in his footsteps. Growing up in Somerset, I've had the privilege of going out there many times, all of which i took for granted. There was one night, a year and a half ago, that my friends and i had been watching Ghost Hunters on TV and decided to take along a tape recorder to see if we could get any EVPs. When we got to the graveyard, we left our doors open and moved inside, checking out each row as if they were experiments or something. We came to the back row- and as MOST people know, the preacher's grave is set off to the left there- and my friend only said "Hey, let's check out the preacher's grave". All of a sudden, it sounded like someone took off running across the graveyard. We freaked out and headed back to the SUV. Slamming the doors, my friend put it in drive and we got the hell outta there. Funny thing was, he was still recording as we got to the end of Soul Chapel road. He stopped the tape, pressed rewind for a few seconds, then pushed play just to see if we got anything. Out of nowhere you could hear, plain as day, a low, raspy voice say "You're all gonna die". I begged him to turn it off. (All through the graveyard, i was begging to go home because i could hear and feel the evil there. It was so thick, if i had a knife with me, i could have cut it!) We got to K-Mart there on 80, pulled under a street light and rewound it all the way. He pressed play again. You could hear what sounded like hundreds of women and children and men screaming at the tops of their lungs, begging you in the tape to help them, "Help me, please"... then the all too familiar voice says "You're all gonna die." Then he shut it off again. The whole way home, i rode with my arms crossed over my chest, afraid something was going to gnaw my arm off. We got home, i said a small protection charm over the house and went inside. He played it for his girlfriend. We went through it all and when it came to the end, for some reason he decided to keep playing it... at the end, when we're all sitting in the car toward the end of Soul Chapel road, you very distinctly hear (once again) "You're all gonna die". True Story...i'd lay my life on it. Those of you who think that place is just sad...no way. I've seen it with my own eyes, heard with my own ears...it's evil there. I'd be VERY careful visiting if i were you.

a group of us went just wednesday night. didnt have a feeling of being scared. but maybe a little sadness. we continued walking the graves. asking questions and talking among ourself. we took pics. and didnt get anything on them. just a few orbs. we recorded and got 3 evps. one of a young girl, and anothers of a male voice talking. upon leaving a friend of mine and myself saw a dark figure standing by the tree beside us. it was gone in as fast as we saw it. and so were we. it looked like a male by the shape of it. but had no face. just a black figure. some would say a shadow person. we were scared at the time. but we will continue to go back.

i am a member of a paranormal group,a few months ago we went to soules chapel.while their we didnt get much,we started to leave and me and anthor female in our team went in we took probley 100 pictures of a green light that kept dancing in front of us,after awhile that green light turned into a little girl with pig tails.my husband was doing evps when we got home and went through our stuff we has an evp of a man calling my husband a fucker.we have not had a chance to go back but hope to soon.

I was at Souls Harbor Church and Graveyard last night. Right after we got there, we all got out and started talking...while people where talking, I heard a low growl in the trees beside us, and my son did also. When you get there, there is a heaviness in the air and it feels like you sorta struggle to breath.

Nothing was really happening, so a couple of us decided to sit by the last grave on the left near the field, and were talking and not really paying attention. When we heard what sounded like a man making a weird grunting sound, the person sitting with me made fun of that sound. As soon as he made the joke, we then heard a growl from behind us.

I immediately got up and left. I don't think you should ever disrespect anything like that, it may just follow you home.

I would like to go back there, and see what else happens. I do believe something is there.

I went last night for the first time.I have.pictures of orbs with a womans face in it,and another one with a really evil face over my son and his friends head.I can't wait to go back.I sat on a grave and let everyone leave for about 5min. And when I got up to leave I had a raised scratch on my back of a Upside down W.LIke I said I can't wait to go back.

I nearly fell over when I read your article! I went tonight for the first time and 1 of the strange things that happened is just as I was about to leave another car pulled up with three young people. I got out and started talking to them and they said this was their second time there they hadn't been back because the first time they got really scratched up I thought yeah right but didn't say nothing 1 of the guys was walking and all of a sudden he went ow and pulled his shirt up he had two very neat very long scratches in the same shape you described on his back!!

I went out to Soule's Chapel today, and although I didn't see anything out of the ordinary while there, for some reason, the preacher's grave, the satan worshiper, had a cross burned in it. Like someone had lit a fire on the grave in the shape of a cross. I took pictures, I don't know if it's some kind of joke, or if it's an ordinary occurance. But it was a little creepy.

Souls chapel is a very evil place. Been there many times and have pictures to prove my theory. If you are not sure where you stand in your religion I would not go. A couple of us went a couple of weeks ago. We took EMF readings and pics but didn't catch anything. This place is just a lonely little grave yard with a sad history. The only thing that was scary was the lack of respect and childish pranks people plant there.

My friends have their own paranormal investigators team going on but went up there on halloween night bout 8 o'clock i say well all of a sudden we start sitting up the camera and the generator just turns off an wouldnt work an it had just worked before we left the house i wasnt rlly scared until i went over into the so called "Preachers Corner" is. I was so called when i got there but walked over to the corner an it felt like a hott day in the summer most ppl say that if ghost are around it will be cold although i wonder if it was extra cold bc of all the spirits they say? but it wasnt cold in the corner so maybe no spirits were over in the corner so u wanna be scared go i also seen a woman rlly couldnt tell anything but she was stanfing by the grave that looks like a mans private part i didnt pay any attention to it to tell anyone bc our camera wasnt working so we couldnt hve captured it but she like glided towards me not in a peaceful way as if she was going to hurt me so she disappeared when i grabbed my boyfriend an told him im ready to go i see and sense rave an confuision an also unhappiness so we left an mow i wanna go back after reading some of the stories u hve posted....

On 5-01-2010 we visited Souls Chapel in Pulaski county for the second time.The previous investigation had several favorable results but nothing compared to this trip. We did use a new camera system with minimal results due to interference of the wireless system. We will be moving to a new wired system in the future to eliminate this problem. We did have good results with several photographs with unknown white objects appearing in a tree at least 2 different times. We also have a photograph of a red mist hanging infront of the same tree with the small white object. The nights events took a very interesting turn when I went out to the grave of the Preacher James Powell the Pastor who performed Satanic ceremonies inside the church. He was then hung from the tree infront of the church and it is beleived that he haunts the grave yard still today. I did attept to provoke the spirit of this preacher and beleive that I was extremely successfull. I openly questioned how he could turn his back on his religion and his church and his God. The responses that I got was very interesting. When I walked back to the truck where we had our base camp stationed I noticed the lights in the truck flicker of and on with the horn honking once also the door on the passwenger side closed and locked by itself. I then went over to the driver side of the truck and got out a bottle of water. I then felt a hard pulling sensation on my belt. I looked down and I was at least 3 feeet away from the truck with nothing touching me. We then lost power to our portable cameras and decided to pack up for the evening. At this point I was standing at the side of the truck watching another team member pack up pack up equipment when a lamp ontop of the Television in the back of the truck came flying off and hit the side of the truck right nextto me. At this point there was no wind or no other reasonable explanation for the lamp flying off the TV. With not expalnation we decided to get back in the truck and leave, at ths point we had another family member with us assissting in the investigation that received a push or pull to the face before she got in the truck. We then retuned home and began processing the evidence. Investigation By Appalacian Pranormal.

If you are coming from London come out 80 towards Somerset turn L at Koetter woodworking follow that road and stay to your right you will think you are going no where! when you bear right and go down the little hill you will then go around a curve and the cemetary is on your left be prepared!!!

i went to soul chapel with my friends last night and we saw a little girl playing. one of my friends was recording out there and when we got out of the graveyard we was listening to wat was recorded. one ghost told us leave the same way we came,another ghost said stay and play, leave while u can, and thanks.when we got in the truck to leave the truck would start but it didnt have any power. on the way to the graveyard we kept on seeing a little girl following us.

come into somerset of course all the way to 80 pkwy to london you will see a big furniture place called kempers on the right that is soules chapel rd take it all the way around till u see the cemetery there is a little down hill part of the road u need to take to the right if you go left you will come to a gate where u cant go any further

My fiance and i went today in the daylight which i recommend first. We are not new to this we have hunted with the best ghost adventures and the constantinos so we know what we arw doing if u dont i dont recommend going this place feels peaceful at first and after a while u get a real heavy feeling and we beleive there are bad spirits to the right of tye church in the real wooded area. If u arent in tune with ur religion i would suggest u stay home this place isnt for anybody and possible attachment could happen. We both have An overwhelming feeling to back which soon we will There is definantly simething there

I am a member of a local area paranormal group, we to have investigated Souls Chapel many times, while reading down through these post I have noticed that most are commenting about the preacher who's buried there, now through out the research I myself conducted on the location I learned that this preacher was a circut riding preacher, he was not stationary to the Souls Chapel location, it was during a stop there that he passed away, I have not found any evidence this man was a Satanic worshiper. I have not found that he was hung from a tree either, from what I learned he died suddenly of health reason's. They do however hold ritual's out there and this location is in unrest due to this. I do not suggest going out there alone at any given time. And If you do not have knowledge of the paranormal please don't  try to do an investigation, dealing with spirits are not as easy or fun as  some seem to think, they can attach to you and they can cause major problems. So take that in to account before doing anything like that. Contact a local group and ask to go a long with them on an investigation if your curious about it. Protect yourself and your families, it is not always easy to get "rid" of an attachement.

okay i didn't go to the soules chapel personally my sister did and she was so scared about it i thought she was going to cry when she called me. i told her about this website and she told me that she didn't want to post it on here and she didn't even want to talk about it since it scared her so bad. i did not know about soules chapel since i don't live in somerset ky. but the story she told me made me believe that the soules chapel may be haunted. this is the story she has told me..... i went with my friend Lacy and Josh and some of his cousins and it was not cool at all. like i didn't want to go in the first place. i was holding Josh's hand while we were walking by the graves and my chest started burning really bad and they all shined a light on my chest and i had bite marks all over me. then later i felt like someone was like choking me and afterwards my neck had like handprints on it and my necklace was gone....... that is what she has told me. i did not know anything about the soules chapel i did not know about James Powell or any of that stuff. personally after the story she told me i will probably not be visiting the soules chapel. i would just like to know if any of these things have happened to anyone else if so please reply and tell me thank you(:
