Like my post in the Camarillo section, one has to remember that there is a military base N. of Santa Barbara where they send up all types of aircraft, missile tests, launches of satellites and so on. While these may appear to be some sort of off-world thing, they can be seen into Ventura county & even further.

If you look up "Vandenberg AFB" on nasa.gov, they have a test launch and satellite launch schedule for that base.

I saw a missile from Vandenberg AFB get out of control once and saw another hit it, blowing it up, from about 15 miles inland in Ventura County. It didn`t look like anything earthly at all! I`ll have to find the pics and upload them (I`ll have to scan the pics, as they were taken on film about 8 years ago.)

And yes! These babies can and DO change direction at lightening speed! Technology is amazing isn`t it!

I could have sworn I was seeing a UFO, but later heard what had happened. The trails looked like nothing I`d seen before (& I used to go to the airports just to watch the planes take off and land at night, just because they were pretty and awesome and I was interested in becoming a pilot! :) ) This failed test is scheduled for sometimes this fall, time and date TBA.

VERY kewl stuff, but not a UFO!

I *have* been in the Santa Barbara mountains (near the Painted Cave area - a place of interest as far as spiritual stuff most definitely) & seen some other things that looked like UFOs, but I question that now since I realize what missiles can do, what certain aircraft can do & so on.

The SETI project (& others) AND the military bases keep tabs on this stuff, as well as communications. If there were a UFO, you can bet there`d be a scramble, as it would be viewed as a threat to national security!

As far as upcoming launches, much of that info was taken off-line in 2005 apparently due to security concerns. (I don`t blame them!), so it`s prolly best to check out the above site after you`ve seen something to see if it was in fact a launch from the AFB (*NOTE: I seriously doubt all launches are posted, I should hope not! This too could be come a serious concern!)

Anyhow, thought I`d add my $0.02 in here, since it seems much of what people have seen may in fact be from Vandenberg AFB OR from Point Mugu (I think that`s Navy???), which has a missile test site there. Anyone in a boat can see it from the water! The black & diamond buoys, as well as the MASSIVE "Stay Away, live missile testing in progress!" sign outta be a good clue! BTW these launches can be seen far out in the ocean as well! I`ve seen so
