Location Description:

The mansion was built in the 1920`s by inventor Dorr Felt for his Wife Agnes. Shortly after the house`s construction, Agnes, died of a stroke in her room at the mansion. Dorr Felt remarried but his new wife hated spending time at the house, most likely because Agnes was still there in spirit. The house has been a home for boys, then for nuns, and a state police post. After many, many years, the house is finally getting restored and ghost tours are giving through it to help raise money. Doors have opened and closed in Agnes`s room, voices are heard, and activity shows up in pictures like orbs and mists. Many believe that Agnes and Dorr still reside in the house. The ballroom is said to be the most haunted room in the house.

Been there when it was for nuns and also when the seminary was there. Camped as a scout. There is the drunken saturday night searches for the famous `melon head`. Of course there is no melon head, however the feeling of unease, from whatever source, is indeed real. There are secrets held by the property. I don`t want to know any more than I already do, and I don`t want to go there again.

Ok, that building behind this mansion IS NOT THE INSANE ASYLUM. It was a minimum security prison built in 1987 and closed in 1991. The Junction insane asylum is not in Saugatuck, if it even exists.

I was just there around 7/5. I was really there for the asylum behind the mansion and mistakingly took the carriage house which is in front of the mansion as the facility. I need to back to investigate further but I didn`t experience any activity and the mansion didn`t give me any bad vibes although there are some creepy steps leading to a little religous statue garden area. It looks like the statue was knocked to the ground at some point. See pictures below. Technically, I think this listing should be under Saugatuck as the "Junctioin Asylum" is listed, they aren`t far apart.

My husband and I were married at the mansion in the ballroom on August 18, 2007, in the evening. I got ready for the ceremony in Agnes's room. The creepiest thing that happened was two people getting stuck in a second floor bathroom because the door handles haven't been replaced. Haunted? You decide.

The asylum did exist it was torn down and replaced with an ABA bmx race track which closed down, I grew up being around all of that and it is very true, what is weirder creepier is the caves and cement structures surrounding that area in the woods and in the dunes, very strange why are they up there? Does anyone know?

I do live in the area by the mansion. There was in fact an insane asylum there, it is in ruins and torn down. But there is no ACTUAL fact that there were "melonheads" that live in the woods. I do and do not believe this myth, due to articles I have read, but there are certainly reasons I dont. I havent walked around through the trails of the woods, but I do plan to eventually to find out some information. I plan to take photos if possible and see if I can find white figures. I do know there was the little prison to keep those kids there, but I didnt get a long chance to look. I hope some of the information helps and gets you thinking a little more.
