I went to school there befor it closed. It's storys, i remember tellling them when i was a kid. we did it to scare the new kids
I went to Milton School for a couple of years back in the early 60's and lived on Milton Rd. about a mile away. I was in about the 4th or 5th grade. The last year I went there I had a female teacher who spanked many of the boys for one reason or the other almost every day. She did this in front of the entire class. She gave me swats almost every day for not doing my homework, which made me mad and I wouldn't do homework because of it. Both my parents worked during the day and I began skipping school. Many days I went down to Woodriver Creek and played but some days I would go home after my parents were gone. I managed to skip 21 days in a row before the truant officers finally contacted my folks. I think I ended up returning to the school but with another teacher. We would jail the teacher now. It's pretty clear to me now that she had some sort of S & M pedofile thing going on. Giving the swats in front of the entire class must have had some sort of humiliation turn on for her.
I believe the old school is pretty spooky but I never heard anything about a girl being murdered until it hit TV. Weird though, right next door to us was a family with some kids a little older than I was that. We never really got to know them. One night a bunch of police showed up because the mother had shot and killed the father right there in the house. We moved shortly after that. Somehow I managed to get through it and can still spell most words and write a clear sentence!
From the last post about daily spankings! I just googled a little more about this and learned that the TV show was from Syfy, Ghosthunters on Oct. 6 2010. The Syfy page says that the murder was from the 1930's. It states that "according to the Alton Telegraph that the school has been a hot bed of activity..." Unless you read it carefully it sounds as if the Telegraph confirmed the murder but what it really says is the according to the telegraph the school has been a hotbed of activity. I never heard anything about this stuff until recently and think it is pretty convenient that the murder was before any official records were available.
It sounds like a tour (Antoinette's Haunted History Tours) has helped to distribute the story although no one has ever found any proof of the murders. I wonder about the earlier post (12/09) saying the girls name was Emily Maryweather was from some reliable source. Dennis Dooley now in Fresno Ca.
