Location Description:
Stange happenings at this historical tavern are thought to be caused by Abigail Pettibone. Abigail is said to have been married to a sailor. According to legend, it was while her seafaring husband was away that Abigail got lonely and had an affair with a local man in town. One night Abigail and her lover were up in her bedroom when the husband came home unexpectedly and found them in bed together. Enraged Abigails husband grabbed an axe and cut the lovers heads off.
Abigail`s Mother was said to be so disgraced from her daughter being caught in adultry that she cut Abigail`s likeness out of a family portrait even though the likeness is that of Abigail as a child.
Odd stuff going on at the tavern are supposed to include lights going off and on,furniture being rearranged and one chair being smashed to pieces, and the sound of singing and tankards being clanked together like they might have been when the tavern was first built. An unexplained small child( some say a boy but I have also heard that it is said to be a girl) had been seen from time to time as well as a tavern wench who appeared in the ladies room mirror.
