Gypsy Graveyard

WOW! I cant believe this graveyard has not been mentioned.

I have been here about 20 times and ive never been dissapointed.  First time i went there the cemetary was surrounded by lightning bugs and not one of them would come into the cemetary.  The story is that gypsys were living here and they caught the plague and none of the towns people would help them.  So they quarantined them to the area which is now the graveyard and let them die slow.

The last time i went there it was a couple days after halloween, i walked in the cemetary with a few friends. (This place is miles from anything) We came back out to the road after about 5 minutes inside and seen a man sitting alone on the steps. We were very confused to say the least. What is a guy doing in the middle of a cemetary at 3am all alone just sitting there. We tried talking to him and he talked very little and what he said made no sense. We got in the car and started driving for about 30 seconds and then we all looked at eachother and said was that a ghost? I turned the car around and went back and nothing was there. he completly vanished. The old man was wearing raggy old clothes and it was just weird. It was a ghost.

The graveyard itself isnt anything special, but if you go across the broken down fence in the back and walk straight you'll get to the gypsy graves. i went there countless times in high school and whenever we would go over the fence, creepiness ensued. Never seen the old man..but a friend of mine took pictures that had orbs in them!

Orbs are just dust particles floating in the air. Orbs that create there own light are supernatural. There are no graves behind the fence. I have looked countless times and never found any. If you would be willing to show me the graves i would be very thankful. Shoot me a email jnstickets@yahoo.com Thanks Jesse

Clearly this isn't "miles from anything" now. I wonder if any of it is still there...

ive been there and there isnt anything around. its in the middle of nowhere. very creepy, but its fun to scare your friends with. like one of my friends wouldnt even go in. legend has it is you walk to the back of the graveyard and there a statue. which ive seen, if you touch it and walk back to the car, your legs or feet should have staind blood on them. depending if you are wearing sandals your feet wont have blood on them if you have sandals on.. only tennis-shoes. but like i said, its very creepy.. hope this cleared the air a little bit (:

The "Old Man" you refer to is a neighbor whose son is buried in the cemetery.  He watches people who visit the cemetery because some disrespectful visitors desecrate the graves and vandalize the headstones, the angel (it was beheaded by a vandal), etc.  The fence is broken down because of soft-headed, law-breaking vandals following childish rumors.  – This cemetery is the sacred resting place of many loved ones; not an amusement park as depicted in some videos on the web.  If you come to this site, you are an uninvited visitor.  So, please try to have a little respect and demonstrate some human decency.

The original stories about this allegedly haunted cemetery were started to exploit people and separate fools from their money.  Most of the stories I've read about this idyllic site are pretty laughable and seem to be written by gullible and skittish suburbanite and city folk who get ‘freaked out’ by simple country things like fireflies, leaves, fog, mist, airborne seeds, spider webs, temperature variations caused by the rolling terrain, etc.  Those of us who live locally find that these pampered visitors tend to imagine more silliness when the power of suggestion is combined with drugs, alcohol and/or adrenaline.

We've never seen any credible evidence of this site being haunted and the lame pictures posted on the web are easily debunked by anyone with a professional photographic background (blurring caused by slow shutter speeds, reflections, fireflies, glow sticks, flash reflections of floating seeds, etc., etc.).

If you see any people staring at you, they are NOT ghosts.  They are likely locals who can’t believe the immature, moronic, disrespectful and destructive behavior of our uninvited guests.  You should also know that we don’t just shoot guns out here in the country; we also shoot digital pictures of visitors and their vehicles and prosecute vandals, intoxicated drivers, public intoxication, illegal drug users, trespassers, malicious mischief, litterbugs and others who disturb the peace (many of these are felonies).  In short, this site is patrolled by God-fearing, law-enforcing patriots.  So, consider yourself forewarned and under surveillance should you choose to make a trek to our woods.

I've herd that when you walk into the graveyard at around 9 p.m.  there will be an animal around where the gypsies were burried. Also I've herd that if you drive by the graveyard at 12:00p.m.there will be an orb following you untill you are about a mile away, then when you are back into a building, or somewere by light,  there will be blood on the bottom of your pants, and all over your shoes.

I went there tonight with my girlfriend and sister who have never been there and we were there for less then 2 mins because both my girlfriend and I saw something like a person that looked 7 feet tall in black walking through the woods and then when we shined the flashlight on it it was gone and also as we were leaving we saw a big white (ford?) truck flying down the road going what seemed to be going about 100 mph which seemed to disappear Also I've been there many times and this was the first time I've seen anything weird like this

I have been a few times and have lived in CP all my life.  Most recently, I was there alone during the day and took some very interesting photos of the graves and woods around.  Nothing super natural, but VERY COOL!  There were 100's of birds all calling about in the woods around the graveyard.  I have been there at dusk as well with my aunt and cousins and my daughters.  Never got blood stained, but still an awesome place and worthy of a good scare if you like.  But as Mr. Funnybone above stated, it is still a grave yard and as such is a place of respect.  If you leave it the way you find it, it will be there for a long time to come!

okay My brother, his friends and i went there and nothing really popped out at us. One of my brothers friends thought he heard talkin between two people. i personally didnt hear anything. it is a place to go to freak a little bit but honestly i dont believe its right to knock over headstones or tip the statues. That i believe is very ignorant and disrespectful. How would u feel if someone knocked over someone in your families headstone? Go out have fun but atleast have some respect!

I love going to gypsies!!! i remember going there when i was 12 and didnt know it was haunted... i just remeber my sis and bro in the car driving somewhere and it happened to be gypisies...i thought it was soo cool just looking at the old time headstones! but now that i think about it...i was wandering around by myself and my sis would be all the way across the cemetary! it still kinda creeps me out cuz u dont know whose watching u! but there was 1 strange thing that my sis and i saw...there was what looked like a fresh grave! but later in the newspaper we found out some devil worshippers dug up a body and hung her and coated her with goats blood as a sacrifice! That was the creepiest thing i had ever seen/ read! But anyway i recommend going out there to anybody! ;)

I would love to get specific directions to this location.  I have heard and read all the stories, but I haven't been able to find anyone that could give me exact directions.  If anyone could help with that I would greatly appreciate it.  My email is chefmez@yahoo.com.

Gypsy's Graveyard is located at 155th and South Grove Road in Crown Point, Indiana. If you visit, make sure to take your camera, and look for the statue of the Angel.

It is definitely not miles away from anything. There are houses within a quarter mile of the place.
