Location Description:

Here it goes and Frank Edwards reported this local legend in his book Amazing Stories All Absolutely True on page 191. Bobby wrote Remember Pearl Harbor meant to razz his Geography teacher on the old school's top floor. She had made an example of him the day before. The hugely lettered 100 foot long chalk message was found the next morning on December 7, 1939!

Please review this true legend from my small town, and consider it for entry at Strange USA. Daily Snopes never listed this one in their many categories of urban legends.

Tell us if you are familiar with this legendary chalk message. The Syfy Channel, the late beloved Paul Harvey, the old Argosy, a mens magazine, Coast to Coast AM's Ian Punnett and George Noory, Real TV, and the late iconic paranormal author Frank Edwards were very familiar with it.

Editing is a feature I was not aware about. Must have missed it up there on the right side. Where is everyone who remembered the 'Beyond - Belief Fact or fiction' program called "Graffiti" on the Syfy Channel in 1998? Chime on in as the chirping crickets rule in this one!

I do thank the well over 300 folks who have ventured a look here. My view counts went way up in England. I suppose Haunted Yorkshire is down for repairs. Our copier still doesn't work so I could make a copy of Nick Schneider's story about Bobby and his message, and type it in here. It was in the Star Times newspaper in 2005. Copy and paste is a no go for me. Our Town Clerk-Treasurer recently received an interesting letter from a man who lives in Maryland who wondered if a story he read about in two separate books really did happen in a small southern Indiana town. Thomas R. Shreck of Salisberry wrote the incident in question allegedly happened 66 years ago - exactly two years before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor - which unfolded on December 7, 1941. The incident is described as follows: "The message scrawled in paint on the sidewalk in front of the public grade school in Indiana, was, townsfolk thought an aggravating bit of vandalism. But what did the cryptic message mean? The huge letters spelled out: "Remember Pearl Harbor." The citizens talked about the writing that winter morning found on the seventh of December, 1939. What did 'Pearl Harbor' mean? They never figured out who painted the words or why. It seemed just a prank or some mindless vandalism, and the incident was forgotten - until the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on the exact day - two years later." Shreck noted in his letter that he read about the incident in a book written by Frank Edwards and a second time in a blurb says - "Astounding stories of strange events! All authentic - all absolutely true!" The Town Clerk shared the interesting letter with the members of the Town Council. They found it fascinating. This came from the South Gibson Star Times from Impressions by Nick Schneider in 2005. Bobby used chalk and not paint. Also according to the Frank Edward's book, it took place in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I'm sitting at the pc four blocks away from the concrete sidewalk that lies 265 miles southeast of Fort Wayne! This story has been told mostly inaccurately for years on radio, television, in books and magazines. Now it's here for Strange USA's membership and guests. A proper place for this non fiction story from a geography teacher razzed 6th grade boy. Due to our major news channels covering the usual tabloid stories. I channeled on. Right next door to CNN is the Chiller Channel.

The show highlighted on our DVR's top line was, "Beyond Belief-Fact or Fiction". 8-)

I said to my wife here is the show. I knew it was being repeated but I had not set it up to record each show on Saturday evening.

A barrage of commercials had just ended. The shows host was walking into a darkened room. The shows theme was "evil" things reported. He walked up to a 4X4 wood form filled with 3"? of concrete. He took a curled stick and began to draw his initials in the wet concrete. I thought to myself, maybe this is the show from 1998!

My son was chatting with his lady college friend who came to visit him from Indianapolis. My wife was sitting behind me at the PC Scrabbling away. I started yelling, "This is it! Come and look son. Jessica look at this!"

The next scene showed the words "REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR" etched in wet cement on a sidewalk. To make things short now. The replay was elaborate like they all are so well done these days.

The high school principle went ballistic. He found the suspect vandal right away and he held him for questioning in his office. He grilled him good. The boy denied this accusation.

He then said, "Look at your record on file." He opened the file to the boys page. "REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR" in red marker was on the filed pages! The old man went nuts accusing him of that!

The boy again denied doing that too. The schools custodian came in the office. He told the principle to look out the window at his shiny yellow 1940s convertible. "REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR" was painted across the passenger side! I had the cold chills watching every second.

The boy had an evil look on his face. It implied this was the work of the devil. The principle's desk had a flip page calender showing December 5, 1941. The skit ended at that point.

At the end of the show the host recounted each skit for a "Fact" or "Fiction." REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR" came to be a "Fact" in another place and time not mentioned to protect the guilty, eh?

I was amazed to catch this! Truly amazed at my timing catching that show from 1998 that recently came on in repeats! 8-)

Now I know some of you have seen this here in the States. Let me know all about it. It is recorded on our DVR!!

So it's time to celebrate the 1,000 views this post up has earned. Celebrating the fact that just today Coast to Coast AM producers are hunting for Pedro in Cincinnati, Ohio. I really doubt if they do find him that he will agree to come on the show about alternate news, UFO's, EVP's, conspiracies, crop circles, alien abductions, the strange and paranormal world all highlighted this week on ABC News Nightline. Unless he comes on without revealing his name. FACEBOOK works oh so well.... Ian Punnett is on now about the poison handbook highlighting poisonings in New York City in the 1920's. Yep! That is never mainstream news, eh? And yes he answered my Facebook comment with great interest. He posted Google 3 search finds starting with the Syfy Channel's "Graffiti" in 1998 on Beyond Belief : Fact or fiction! Two of his finds were my contributions on the web and I told him that fact. I think one of them led back to Strange USA. So thanks matrix, found in every state, and Happy Angel for having this secret place too few are aware about. Stand by for further info as it transpires. I asked the host George Noory if he had read Frank Edwards' book "Strange World" and he said he had read it but it had been a long time ago. I started off with mentioning something in the first 12 pages that I had never heard told on that alternative news show. That ET's stink and that the 3 observed in a craft on the ground in Venezuela had bristly hairs on their small bodies. Then I switched to page 191 and once again I told of our local legend of the kid writing "Remember Pearl Harbor" on the old school's sidewalk. He said, "Oh yes! I remember that fascinating story very well." Our conversation ended at that point. Funny thing was with the time delay I cranked up the truck's radio and heard half of what we chatted about! At least I beat UFO Phil singing his Coast to Coast AM theme song that get's played every Friday night. I elected not to tell SCANIA Hit! with a great time to tell it. Maybe calling in for a fifth time will get that told next Friday on Open Lines.
