Hello North Carolinians & all members of Strange USA!

Interstate 40's Pigeon River Gorge is haunted!

This "big bump in the night" is something weird that happened to me in a wide awake state of mind. Keep in mind I never used illegal drugs to drive. Foley Laboratory Services of Connecticut gave me random drug tests as required by law to drive a commercial vehicle. This took place in 1989 as I hauled The Land of Lincoln's white oak veneer logs to eastern Virginia. I was a bit over excited when I told the happening to ghost story author Annie Wilder of Hastings, Minnesota on Pop Odyssey Radio in December of 2011. The show is linked at the bottom of my long page.

Strange USA has an earlier experience of mine that was in my mind during this "happening"!

Any comments will be appreciated but they are not expected. I'm from Southwestern Indiana.

Pay little attention to the two pics posted as I was experimenting pulling up unknown pics from our files. On second thought, pay a lot of attention to the art work in the smaller pic. Go to Ft. Branch in Indiana for a short explanation of this sun pillar seen in January of 2006. Wow!

;D Last Wednesday evening a Toyota parts trucking trip allowed me to pass thru western North Carolina on Interstate 40 East of Waterville, Harmons Den Rd and thru two mountain tunnels. At the 10 mile marker a rest area sign for my sore eyes came into view!

So my non accident was not really that close to the Tennessee State line.

I hoped there would be at least one parking spot for my green and blue Falcon International tractor with it's Wabash National 53 foot trailer. Low and behold there was just one spot left on the West end!

The parking lot was exactly the same to the left of the newer welcome center. Everything else was all re-done including an enlargement for parking. The grounds were landscaped nicely. For me there was an air about the place.

To my amazment there was another rest area across the highway that I did not remember. In 1989 I thought I remembered a rock wall there with chain link fencing placed high to keep rocks from falling on the pavement. I bet it was there at that time and I failed to even notice it after my experience!

Since the Kersey, Pennsylvania veneer log haulers told me to stay in Virginia to get to South Hill. I had not been back that way in twenty years. My memory of the curvy section of I-40 leading to the North Carolina Welcome Center was all fuzzy. ???

I got an empty bottle of 5 Hour Energy and I knived the soil loose near the grassy curbed median. I filled the bottle with soil right from the spot where I hit the Freightliner. ;)

I was glad to be back there! ;D ;D ;D

I heard part of a great show last night on Coast to Coast AM. Joshua P. Warren was on with George the last hour! C2C had on a lady expert with dreams of premonitions including 9/11 acountings and "Ghost Hunter" Josh for four hours!

What an eye opener for my sore truckin' eyes from 2:10 AM at the welcome center! But wouldn't you know it! I fell asleep in the bunk and missed most of the show! :-/

Now you can follow along with Mark Elvidge's robot. I should have placed this true story here long ago. Haunted Yorkshire's paranormal web site has been down for the count a long time... Worldwide lorry drivers tell tall tales, and 95% of them are true. We take most with a grain of salt of which some may be transporting that too. I bought and still own a SCANIA for transporting the best trees Mother Nature can grow. In 1989 I was loaded with International Veneer Company's Illinois white oak headed to South Hill, Virginia a 760 mile trip. The near perfect logs were individually tagged and waxed. It was 4:00 am as I pulled into the first rest area out of Tennessee at the North Carolina line east of Waterville. There was one spot left on the end next to a grassy median. Cars on the right and lorries on the left. I pulled straight in and set the brake on my Swedish lorry. One of 600 imported to the USA, and the only one with an aluminum tubing and wire brush guard. I ate some cakes with milk, and to my amazement I perked up quickly. I noticed a lorry coming in with his lights on bright then stopping to my left behind me. I said on the CB radio, " I'm ready to leave now you can have my spot." He said nothing so I reversed moving 80,000 lbs 6-8 feet. I stopped like hitting a wall!! I'd hit the front of a lorry that was mostly blocking the car entrance. I didn't see it pull in behind me! I got a sick feeling as I jammed the brake. The damage was done and I had 1.5 million safe miles. I got my flashlight and wondered if there was a long log hanging over a bit. I couldn't remember. There was no overhang, AND there was no damage to the truck I'd just slammed! I lit it up,....nothing,....the radiator should have been in the fan,...it shouldn't be running,....it was! I rubbed my hand over the smooth white metal. I looked for anti-freeze under the motor,....none anywhere! The Caterpiller motor had it's familiar sound. It was in perfect shape and I was stunned! The driver was in the rest area building and never came out during my wide eyed investigation. I kept saying to myself, "What do I tell him? I've hit your lorry but there's no damage?" To my left a lorry rig left a space open, and I pulled left to park there. It was breaking dawn as I looked at the white new cabover Freightliner sitting there running. I laid my head down over the wheel to rest,...to wait. It was gone when I woke up 15 minutes later! I still think about this every day and night! ________________________________________________________________________________ Folks? Hit an aluminum soda can with a hammer. If you cannot dent it. That is what happened to me, wide awake and impossible to do! Like my British friends have said. This could have been an angelic intervention delaying my trip, and avoiding an unknown danger in perfectly good driving weather! That is the only explanation I understand, but some have said it was a ghost driver's ghostly lorry. But at least I did touch it and there was form to touch. Our little company was paying for random drug testing by a Connecticut company called Foley Laboratory Services, Inc. I did not take anything to stay awake. Remember, I was wide awake at the time this happened! Near the North Carolina border with the mysterious Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is my personal haunting of.........What in the heck happened that morning?? An update news flash from my true story out of the mysterious mountains of western North Carolina. Mark Elvidge has shut off his little red radio at Mysterial. My two links above, if you have checked lately, are showing the web page does not exist. The Paranormal News was an active web site & forum at one time. Then the webb dust got too deep and it choked. So that old address is where he placed his robot told stories. My story was once mixed with news of Jack-the-Ripper and Thomas Edison...woo, woo! I don't know what Mark is up to, so I will ask him in due time. Places are strange, meaning paranormal websites. A member here named Flashback, out of the blue, posted in my profile page. I actually got an e-mail notification. When I got here I read it on the positive side of this thread. When I tried to find out how to send him a thank you for reading this true story. It was gone.

I will search his user name to see if I can send a note of thanks. BTW is it OK to be posting so many times in your own story? At Scotland's huge mongous Unexplained Mysteries. Their ever watchfull mods would come unglued at the seams if you woke up a dusted over story of your own life's high strangeness. Something they name necropsy, how weird is that? I saw the same word at Daily Snopes.

I had submitted this true time slip under Evansville, Indiana for the record. It was read and not found to be strange so it was not submitted. So under Waterville in North Carolina let me see if this comment/story of my other weird trucking story will stay for a read.


Location: The Dixie Bee Line or The Almann Brothers' Highway 41 in Evansville, Indiana.

This one below has been unexplainable to me for 36 years. Was it time travel? A gain in time? This wouldn't happen again to me in a million years!

In 1975 Rod Stewart's "Stay With Me" and The Faces hit song started as I entered Evansville, Indiana's US 41 stop light corridor. There were twelve traffic lights in 7.1 miles. The "green light" for go went perfect with his lyrics," For tonight your going to stay with me." I didn't speed with my tractor/trailer's full load of Kentucky hogs, and I made every light green in exactly four minutes and thirty seven seconds. And there were cars sitting on the pavement's buried light activators North of the city. I never saw one caution light the whole way!

Rod's song ended with the drum beat finish at light twelve. In the forty and forty-five mph speed zone I needed to be going way over 90 mph for this to happen!! I only went the speed limit as usual. After this happened my only thoughts were, "Now just how cool was that!" 8-) 8-) 8-)

This took years to set in about what may have happened. My wife and I started the song in the same spot five winters ago, and didn't get half way through. With light traffic it took us nine minutes. I've never heard a longer version of "Stay With Me". ;)

And neither had rock n roll mysteries author R. Gary Patterson on the premier of Coast to Coast Live as a guest of Ian Punnett 27/1/06. I have that call recorded on a cassette tape. Along with two other calls, one to Ian 2001; and one to George and Gary in 2008.

It wasn't the fact that I made all the lights green. As we truck drivers were accustomed to keeping a steady speed to hopefully not stop. It was the time factor, big time!

See if you can drive this distance in that time at those speeds. LOL means lots of luck!

I hope this comment does not trigger the filter. Next Tuesday one of two guests on Pop Odyssey Radio online from Nashville, Tennessee will be Annie Wilder of Hastings, Minnesota. She is an noted author who lives in a haunted house on a hill overlooking the Mississippi River.

After her appearance with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM a few weeks back. I asked her if she would want to have a guest spot on Pop Odyssey Radio. She said yes and then she was contacted by the show's host Stephen Wren.

Annie has read and heard this Weird story from western North Carolina. She and the hosts are expecting my call to tell it on the air after 9 PM CST.

Here is the Hastings, Minnesota resident Annie Wilder's guest appearance on Pop Odyssey Radio from December 6, 2011. The host and author Stephen Wren was anticipating my phone call from the road. I was not tuned in to the online radio show, but I knew to call. I sent Stephen her name after her show with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

I don't see how this entry and the 6th grader boy's strange chalk writing get's highlighted to be found for viewing! Yet the views in both spots climb every day! I find it easy to compare paranormal websites; nearly all become silent paranormal resource libraries, or they die a quiet online death.

Strange USA is doing well in the resource category.

I have no clue how this true "big bump in the night" got to page #1 on the ratings page, but I do appreciate the views! You might even post a note here especially if you have traveled through the spooky Pigeon River Gorge at night on Intersate 40 in western North Carolina!
