Sad that it is, huh. Why can't someone take a serious look into it, and do something w/it?

It closed a few years ago, contents were sold off, and the building has been on and off the market a few times since then.

As far as being haunted, I'll add my vouch for it. I spent much of my childhood in that building, and on many occasions I've seen things in there that defy explanation.

I personally have connections to the Colonial Movie Theater, the employee's that worked there, and the man who may roam the area.  I've seen movies fall off of shelves.  One time I witnessed a door open and close with no one there.  One employee saw something/someone (a ghost) in one of the movie screen room and ever since couldn't  be alone during closing time.  George who may be one roaming the area I knew, he would eat a local resturant every day.  Beleive in ghosts or not there is truly some paranormal activity Downtown Laconia, NH.

Unfortunatley, the Colonial is not haunted. They had a paranormal group go into the theater for fun and it found nothing. I managed the theater for years and it is a happy space.

The contents of the Theater have not been sold off and it could easily be restored to its original glory.  Lawrence made sure all of the beautiful artwork was protected when they turned it into multiple theaters. I really think people need to understand that the City of Laconia is trying to get their hands on the property and have scared off any potentional buyers in their attempts to close it off to the public.

The person you are referring to is George Morin. He loved the theater and dedicated his entire life to working there. One of his favorite movies was Turner and Hooch.  I have many fond memories of him and he is greatly missed.

I was walking by the theater today, just looking around and peeking through the doors and talking about how i wish i owned it now. I heard that the theater was haunted but also an amazing place. As i was walking away, I looked back and saw a black shadow walk straight into the wall but it was quick so I'm not sure if it was really a shadow or just me because that happens to me sometimes, it turns out to just be my eyes... its still really scary though...

I live directly above the theater and been close to a hundred movies there growing up in laconia, and no it is not haunted just old and creepy. people just have over active imaginations. I wish someone would bring it back I loved that place as a kid. If there's a way to post a pic I will.  and yes it's been closed for far to long.

My wife and I have lived here 3 years above the theater with three cats and moved five times in the same building. The only actions out of the ordinary was the cats would stare or meow at something that was not there, and were not scared of what ever it was. Nothing ghostly bothered my wife and I; maybe were not worthwhile to be bothered with.

I own a local paranormal team here in the seacoast and I would love nothing more then to have a chance to go in and either prove or disprove all of the rumors of activity at the theatre. If anyone knows who to contact in order to get in to do a paranormal investigations please feel free to contact my team at eanddparanormal.com or e and d Para normal on FB Thanks.

Was so disheartened when I learned it was closed. Now they tried making it into a cinema[s]?? Wish there were some way to restore it, and just...bring it back to what it was!! Back in '83, I took my 2 yo there to see some of Seseame St. Now that was awesome!! 'Course that would Take demand for it. Doesn't sound like anyone's all that interested.
