Location Description:

Veterans haven is right next to bayside prison ward and Ancora mental institution. It was once a town the psychiatric hospital made for patients to all live together, many of the patients murdered each other, and the most of them are old veterans from the war. Eventually, so many killings took place they just shut the whole town down. It has a lot of paranormal activity and the streetlights are still left on through out the little deserted ghost town.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	Working at Ancora, and living in the area my whole life I can honestly say you are ignorant if you do not think this story is accurate. There was a masacre and the patients picked each other off one by one. What often comes to mind is the hills have eyes and people as close as family turning on eachother. The only exception is they are not freaks just human beings with misguided mental illnesses.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	My BF's Union crew worked on the rehab of oneof the wings. Said that weird stuff happened all the time. Noises, doors shutting slammed. One day a guy- big tough Union guy- just up and left. Quit.

AnonymousVisiter	I have been there people work there and it isnt totally abandoned but if you wait in your car or enter the place has an eery feeling and you can almost swear that you hear screams. Do not go into the hospital when people go in their they come out different i saw a full grown man come out crying and begging us to kill him.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	I work at the Haven and I hear screams all night long.. but think, they are people and are probably getting meds to go to sleep and are fighting it. Our building is next to the Ancora Cemetary and a few times we have seen things move quick across the street when we come up the dark driveway. Its not what you hear but what you see..

AnonymousVisiter ** US	Good Grief! What on earth is wrong with all of you? Ancora is a state mental hospital in Winslow Township, Camden County. Veteran's Haven is a state run (Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs) transitional housing program for homeless veterans, which is located in a building on the grounds of Ancora that DMAVA rents from Ancora. There are no massacres, no ghosts, no anything other than men who have served our country honorably and came upon hard times and are now trying to regain their dignity. The buildings that the original writer was referring to were no where near Veterans' Haven and were at one time used to house hospital employees. They haven't been used for that for years and have since been torn down. There's nothing to go and see, nothing to photograph and no mystery other than how anyone could be so ignorant as to post the things posted here!

My mom was a nurse there.The houses across from the hospital were for the nurses and their families.I lived at 1090 park drive.The houses on the hospital side were for doctors and their families.Patients would sometimes escape but they usually headed for the casinos down rt30.Never heard of any of the rumors people have mentioned here.No murders or cannibals or that kind of stuff.Some of the patients did some messed up stuff to get there though.Eventually someone thought it would be a good idea to move homeless families into those houses but it turned out to be a pretty bad idea and they destroyed the place.Just a bunch of foundations now.The hospital itself is pretty creepy.There are a series of tunnels that connect the different buildings.When the place finally closes it would be cool to check out.Hope this clears some stuff up.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	That is absolutely true!!! I think the post you are talking about was just to hype things up. Of course theres going to be things said because it is a phsych hospital. As far as the Haven is concerned, is Vets getting there lives together and when the Haven did first open there were a few Vets that did live in those houses for employees while the Haven was establishing itself. At that time, there were only about 10 residents and they assisted with the maintenance of the Haven. The kitchen was an addition later on and alot needed to be repaired as the building was empty for some time before DMAVA began renting it. I only hear about unsatisfied Vets from the Haven anymore, lately the Haven hasnt been ran like it used to and thats a shame, it WAS a pleasant place for Vets and staff!!
