Description:
Well last night my wife and i found out about the place and decided we'd go check it out. It was me my wife and my son. we gathered up a still shot camera, video camera and an audio recording device and of course flash lights and headed out. we got there around 10ish. At first glance it was kinda eerie and spooky. We drove all the way to the building. We grabbed all our equipment and went inside. we fist came to a nursing station and looked down each hallway. The place is in shambles with the ceiling falling, walls tore up, and most of the doors gone. with camera in my hand and video camera in my sons hand and flashlight and audio recording device in my wifes hand, we ventured. The place was eerie, but i can't say silent because all we heard for and hour and a half was rap music being blasted from a very nearby home. But in spite of that we kept up the search for anything paranormal. But after an hour and a half we got NOTHING. I would say thanks to the blasting music for that, although in some spots the walls blocked most of it out. I did watch a video on youtube of a group of people who claimed to have heard a bang and took off running.
My wife, son and i found that room. it appears to be what's left of the kitchen. with all equipment ready we stood there almost silent for 10-15 minutes. To our disappointment we heard NOTHING and saw NOTHING. So we continued on throughout the entire nursing home.
We stayed in the building till after midnight in hopes of experiencing something (anything). We looked in every room of the building. Which in it's day had to have been a very large nursing home. There were at least four nursing stations with winding hallways and at the end of each hallway seemed to be what was day rooms or dining areas. All windows were gone and graffiti was spray painted on most of the walls. There were still remnants or signs of it having been a nursing home. Such as old medicine cups old medical paperwork from charts, not filled out, signs for the staff, shower chairs linen carts and a few mattresses on the floor in one of the day rooms etc.. but no dried up bloody needles nor dried blood under doors however did find a cap from a insulin needle. WOW real spooky...lol
My wife has worked in a nursing home for nearly 19 years. And decided to do some research on the old place today. This is what she found out about the place and owners.
Judging from the items found in the nursing home such as style of shower chairs and linen cart. They seem to not be older then 10-15 years because that style of stuff came out about 10 years ago. This leads us to wonder why the nursing home shut down. Or did it just relocate?. The construction of the building in some areas wouldn't allow two wheelchairs at once to pass.
What we have discovered thus far is, the building was originally called " The Chalfonte Hotel". It opened Nov 20th 1927. During Word War II it was leased to a group of army officers and their families from Ft. Bragg. After the war it became a popular night spot. In 1951 it was converted into the "Pinehurst Convalescent Center". There were public rooms in the adjacent building where the family or friends of the patients could spend the night when they came to visit. That building has since burned and is gone.
On July 26 2005 it was purchased by Threexland, LLC C/O " The Moser Group". 231 Post Office Drive Unit B8 Indian Trail NE, 28079. According to tax records the building has a value of "0" therefore no details of the building exists on these records. It is listed as 7.08 acres of land. With the value of $351,200.
The night we visited, which was Oct 30th 2009, we drove right up to the old nursing home and not bothered by any local police nor were there any " No Trespassing" signs up.
All in all it was an eerie fun adventure with no signs of paranormal activity. Ironically the parcel number for this piece of property in the moore county tax records is 24666. Hmmmmm.... Any new information of the old eerie place will be posted. I will be posting pictures of the place.
We will be going back to try once again to experience any activity. Perhaps without the loud music, we will.
P.S. I will be posting pictures of the place.
