cyanidexguns Last Seen: 1/16/2008 8:07:42 PM	This has been in an issue of Weird NJ (obviously). Right when I bought the issue, me and my mother decided to check it out. We brought along the issue and the Weird NJ book. Basically, we were fully prepared. We went down that road and to the Missle Base. What we found was..... absolutly nothing. No mist. nothing. we felt jipped. It`s not haunted and theres nothing there. its all boarded and chained up so dont even bother going. Save your time and gas. :]

AnonymousVisiter O US	I strongly doubt that the houses are haunted, but I have seen them. It is true that the houses are boarded up but it is nothing special. I have also been there at night and what i saw was nothing. As mentioned it is not that impressive. There is no mist. It is intend WEIRD but not frightening.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	I allways wondered about this place,living near by and finally googled it today and one cite said it was a closed down nike missle cite.closed down in the early 70s.Because of an old Exon map I use to have,I knew it was a missle cite,because the map put little missles on certain areas in NJ.I went down there the first time somewhere between 85 and 87,and there were people living in those houses.plenty of kids running around,and as soon as they noticed my car,they froze. It felt like the village of the dammed.Told a friend about itlast week,drove down there to find it had become a property of Old Bridge Twp for school and official vechicls,and a shop(maybe for repair?)the homes were all boarded up,with messages and the sort.This was not case in 1985.

AnonymousVisiter * US	Sorry to say that the Old Bridge Board of Education was on that property off of the RT. 9 Gate since the early 1970's They had Offices, Garage, for Busses,and other buildings for supplies. I remember in the early 1960's when the Military Closed the base and removed the Nike Missiles The silos were filled with water before being closed. How do I know this Well my family has been in Old Bridge Townshio since 1920 and it was Madison Township at that time.

AnonymousVisiter H US	I used to live in Old Bridge. Me and my friends went back there a few times. I know that the Oldbridge Police used to conduct mock raids and bomb disposal drills there in the houses(you may be able to find fake pipe bombs and old fake grenades used to train the officers). One day we went there to go inside the houses, We opened a loose boarded up door and went in to find Training explosives and empty pipe bombs. We had the crap scared out of us when we saw this stuff thinking it was real. We explored got board and left (1998). The NIKE Missles were never located at JB Road only the radar station portion. It is like this in a few spots around NJ and long island. They kept the detection unites seperated from the launch facilities. People fly RC planes in the open field behind the locked gates. There is still a concrete floor back there where the unit was located. We never seen ghosts there and we have been there at night. It is spooky at night.

AnonymousVisiter B US	I found out about jake brown road by mistake actually. I wasn't buying too much into the talk that it was haunted until recentely. My friends went there and heard a knocking right next to them in one of the houses and ran out. While my friend was running, she stepped on a board and a nail went half way through her foot. You think that would convince us not to go back, but low and behold, we found ourselves back last night. When we went, we automatically got an eerie feel. We were sitting just looking at the houses and then we all noticed a light flicker throughout one of the whole houses. These homes have no electricity, no cars were there, no one. I have orbs in all my pictures from there. People would argue that there's dust in my camera, but it only does this on that road. Something bad happened there, I can feel bad presences every time I go.

AnonymousVisiter O US	I have lived in old bridge for 11 yrs and have visited this place many times all I will say is that its definatly strange you get a creepy feeling when your there no doubt but I cant say if its haunted or not id be more afraid of crazy squatters or weird cult leaders because there has been evidence of gatherings by people like that in the past the kicker for me was the fact that I read that there may have been scarifices there long ago and last winter there was a human skull found so it leaves alot to imagination coincidence or truth its worth checking out but you have to be careful cops do monitor it alot more since the skull finding its not heavily guarded by any means but they do issue tickets for tresspassing.

AnonymousVisiter M US	For all the peopl who think this place is haunted, it is NOT. it was in Weird NJ because it is a cool creepy place to visit, but by no means haunted. even if you hear stuff like footsteps or knocking, the houses are 40/50 years old and falling apart, so of corse they are going to creak a lot. and as for orbs in pics, it is on a dirt road and its very old/dusty there so you are going to get "orb" type objects in pics. nothing bad happened there! the houses were abandoned because of the missile base built just down the road, not because people were murdered. it is a good place to explore/look around, but it is not haunted

jtcross07 Last Seen: 6/7/2009 8:32:00 PM	im a 24 yr old spc in the active army me my wife and my step son went to go find this place and we drove on jake brown rd and didnt find any abandoned buildings just drove on a dirt road found a farm and a road that said no tresspassing so i went up it saw nothing but farm land and a small red building off to the right at the end of the cut grass i went by myself as i left my wife and stepson on the little gravel pull off by the no tresspassing sign and i heard a very faint womans voice yell my name 3 times and i got a real eerie feeling i asked my wife if she or her son were calling my name and she swore she didnt kinda creepy and checking it out more tomorrow...

AnonymousVisiter R US	me and friends went to see these houses last night. we parked our car at the gate with the stop sign and climbed in. we ended up walking 10 minutes on this creepy long road and came to a big abandoned dirt field with nothinng but a red storage shed to the right. there were no houses anywhere. AnonymousVisiter ** US	i been to jake brown road plenty of times. its really not thet scary.but i do get a really odd feeling wen im back there but of course if u go there at night and its a place with boarded up houses and no lights its gon be creepy. but theres nothing there. just years of enviorment and us kids messin around. . u wanna see something go to the marlboro insane asylum go to the building to your right climb the fire escape to about the 3rd floor and go in the window.. walk around follow the name kevin and arrow to a big door with a K on it..last time we went the door was pouring water down. which is weird considering there hasnt been running water there for years. the next time we visited there the window was unlocked but unable to open it was a full moon that night too. we went to the top floor window to find it broken wit 100's of pigeons inside. we then went back down and tried the doors downstairs. there is also a little roof that if u climb on u can get to some windows we tried to jump on it was really warm around that time but the roof was ice. then we heard a loud scream. no one thought much of it considering i was messing wit everyone and had a scream downloaded onto my phone but it wasnt me it wasnt my phone idk wat it was. after that we went around to the side and there is a little door to a boiler room etc.. we all went in trying to get through the other door to get into the building but we couldnt. being in that building is a weird feeling every room u pass u get a feeling someone is in there looking at you. weird sounds. defidetnly best place i been to.........and one thing for everyone who when they go into the back of that building and claims they see red lights or white lights in the top right side windows its nothing...there is a rehab center behind the marlboro insane asylum that is open and does have people there and visitors etc. everytime a car goes past to go to the rehab center and presses the brakes the red light refelct into the windows causing everyone to think theres something there..........im sure theres something in the building. but it sure isnt anything wit lights.......and one more thing nobody run wen da cops come considering u do have to pass a security guard..because my friend ran into one of the surrounding little houses or w.e u wanna call them and he fell through the floor into the basement. be smart....

AnonymousVisiter ** US	Yes... The houses are no longer there. It is not/never was haunted. Here is the break down: the missile magazine is owned by the Old Bridge Board of Education (for school buses). The site where the houses WERE is owned by the Township of Old Bridge and trespassing calls the troopers down. There are frequent patrols (three or four a day). And the half mile road that leads to an open field (that turned itself into an illegal shooting range for a few years) is owned by the FEDERAL Government.

And I've been there plenty of times. Visitor 68.192.3.170: The Old Bridge Board of Education owned/operated out of that site for many years. They were there long before I graduated high school in 1981 and they were there for many years afterward. A few of the houses there were occupied but they were abandoned long ago. jtcross07: I believe you might have gone the wrong way on Jake Brown Road off of Route 9. There is a farm market on the east side (north bound lanes) of the highway. The site is on the west side (south bound lanes).

AnonymousVisiter ** US	To answer every thing on this page i can go into great detail as an Old Bridge township firefighter. Ive fought many fires in the Nike base. The creepy mist..... The Nike Base is located directly next to the Runyon Watershed which is a major supplier of water to the Middlesex County Water Authority, which supplies water to most of Middlesex county. Hence the Nike Base borders many wetlands that provide a creepy fog in many atmospheric conditions. Abandoned haunted houses.... These houses were the quarters of the officers and staff that ran the Nike Base in the mid 1900s. They were abandoned years after the Nike Base was abandoned. They were old and unsafe and taken down because of the danger of people trespassing over the years. Running water in ghost haunted houses..... The Nike Base was never part of the City water system in Old Bridge Township. When the base was built, Old Bridge was a Farming town and barely had the sprawling population and development it has today, never mind a complex water supply system. The Nike Base had a private well and pump system. It has been turned on and off over the years for firefighting operations in in the Nike Base and many times cannot be turned off and is left on for the Federal Government to supply a contractor to restore the system. Hazmat scare...... The township houses its school board transportation vehicles in the old battery buildings. Yes there were many cases of cancer in employees but after removing all the townships vehicles and testing the site for many years it was determined that the site was safe and the cases of cancer were random and not related to the site. Buildings gone.... Yes, the buildings were torn down and removed from the property due to the amount of trespassers constantly at the location. Before the buildings were removed they were put to good use. Approximately 5 buildings remained standing in fair condition. They were donated to the Fire department to train on multiple times. Fire departments in our area are rarely offered an opportunity to drill on a real house and not have to worry about repairing any damage. End of the story is.....its not haunted.....its gone.....and it never was haunted.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	The Nike Missile Base in Old Bridge, NJ is written about in "Ghosts of Central New Jersey - Bizarre, Strange & Deadly, which was written by one of our investigators (NJ Ghost Organization). Barnes & Noble, Amazon, etc. carry the book. My group has gone out there, but more recently the houses have been leveled and a couple of years ago someone dumped a body in the woods adjacent to where the houses stood at the time. There is an ambience about the area that tends to lend the creepy factor, but there isn't much to tell.

AnonymousVisiter	I used to live in one of the homes on Jake Brown Road from 1984 - 1987. There were 12 homes their that mainly housed military recruiters and their families. The homes were maintained by the housing office at Ft Dix. I don't know when the Army decided to abandon the homes, my guess is the early 1990's. It wasn't haunted back then and loved living there.
