Location Description:
Four bedroom flat, decent sized yard with a few large fig trees... Seemingly innocent, sweet, and deemed cute at first by my husband and I in September of 2008. At the time, I was roughly 5-6 months pregnant with my daughter, and we were looking for somewhere to start our new lives. It was an older house (to us, at least, built in the early 70's or so), with decent yard space for the puppy (now my adult dog Blue), room to work on the car, and a quaint orchard across the street. Not to mention we were right across from Allen's Grocery on our other side, so it was very convenient. It had a decent size master bed, two living room/family rooms, an office, and a cute little room that had been used as a nursery, and still had some old toys and Baby Disney character wall paper. We thought it was perfect, and couldn't wait to live there. About a week after we moved in, while my then-fiancee was at work, I was laying in the living room that was closest to the master bed, and heard what sounded like footsteps on the roof. The odd thing about it was the fact that it was around 2 a.m. I disregarded it, figuring it was only tree branches, though I had an eerie feeling. A few weeks later, on a night my fiancee had off, we lay in the living room again, talking. Mid-sentence, he paused and asked if I'd heard footsteps. I listened, and heard the odd noise again. He walked outside, and nothing was there. There hadn't even been a breeze. Again, we disregarded it, though both of us were uncomfortable. After about two months living in what still seemed our dream home, things began to get extremely tense and uncomfortable in the house, to the point where not only I refused to pass the kitchen, but so did our dog and two kittens (mind you, the room past the kitchen was the nursery, adjoined by the laundry hookup area and storage along with the other bedroom). Finally, about our third month living there, our family friend came over. Things ended up getting flustered, and the two males in the house got into a verbal dispute over the noises and uneasiness in the house. I walked out of the living room, and began to step into the master bed to lay down, when my dog (Blue) bolted into the room past me, backing his rear against my legs, blocking me from entering the room. After he seemed to make sure that I wasn't going to enter, he bolted at our bed, barking viciously at our closet, then whimpered, almost as though in pain. I ran out of the house completely, shaking, with the dog behind me... We moved out the next day. Later on, we heard that of one of our cats that had gone missing had been found in a far corner of the backyard, dismembered and charred to a crisp. I have never gone back to that house since.
