Location Description:         
 

MacKenzie State Park is considered one of the most haunted areas on the Big Island.  A portion of the King's Highway runs through the park where Night Marchers are often observed, as well as apparitions of people vanishing behind and into trees.  Strange sounds, balls of light.  Two violent murders took place there in recent times, however many prisoners from Oahu made to clear the area of brush and such had perished in the 1800's from starvation, heat exhaustion, illnesses, etc.  Their remains have not been accounted for.  The park is small,between 13-14 acres, but there is no mistaking the odd mood of the area. 

Native Hawaiians understand the area belongs to ‘uhane (human souls).
