I worked at the castle overnites with an old elementary buddy,we both are preety tough and rugged guys.one nite we were working and had just got done mopping the floors,we ended up out by the check in desk , when we herd a crash out in the kicthen area,when we got out there all the pots and pans had fallen off the rack over the cooking area, there was no expaination why the rack and hooks were all intact.?
I know personally people that work at the Castle and there are spirits in the castle. One is a gentlemen and one is a lady. The gentlemen roams around in the dining area during the day amongst the guests and at night he likes to cause mischief and make noises. He is probably why the pots and pans fell.
The lady does not really want anyone at the castle. She doesn't like the fact that intruders are there but she doesn't cause problems.
Sometimes the doors to the rooms upstairs will not open no matter what the employees try to do and then a few hours later the same door is just sitting there open.
And music will play in the wee hours of the morning even though the employees all know that the music automatically turns off at 11 pm.
The train whistle that you hear is actually a train that runs along the edge of the property. It hauls salt from Ithaca to where ever it is going and they usually run the train late at night. If you walk to the edge of the Belhurst property and look over the cliff towards the lake you will see the train tracks.
