Location Description:

A very old cemetery, many people have heard a very mournful crying/screaming while driving through the cemetery even in daylight hours. Also, a very horrible feeling of foreboding often comes with hearing these cries and screams. One couple, just using the cemetery as a short cut, heard & felt it, ”The sound and feelings were very alarming in the fact that they seemed to be all around us, as if inside the vehicle with us. It was a very frightening experience due to the fact that it was indeed broad daylight when this occurred.”

AnonymousVisiter M US	I have lived in Modesto, CA my whole life. About 6 years ago when I was about 17 my parents moved into a neighborhood close to the cemetary. I really enjoyed riding my bike around the neighborhood and eventually rode around to the cemetary almost everyday. I know it sounds strange, but I became very fascinated with it. I thought it was interesting to see all of the tombstones, especially the really old ones. A lady lived about a house apart of the cemetary. She owned many cats. At least ten or more and this one cat would always meet me in the same spot everyday at around 5:30 pm as if it expected me. I would pet it because I really liked cats and it seemed nice just a little strange. Riding my bike to the cemetary became a routine and one day I was riding I stopped for a moment and I know what I am about to say is going to sound crazy. I heard a man`s voice telling me, "Hey look down here, over here." "I am over here." I kept hearing it say the same things, while I was searching for someone that was speaking and there was no one anywhere. There was a bus stop near, but no one was there no one was at the cemetary. I was scared to death. I began to ride off on my bike when I saw a figure standing very far back in the cemetary that looked like me. She was just standing there very still, looking down and wearing the same clothing as I was that day. A blue sweatshirt and jeans. I never went back until about a month ago because the curiousity was killing me once again, but nothing to unusual happened. I just felt very drawn to some tombstones, notably a white one very far back in the cemetary. For some reason I knew it was a man before I got there and I almost thought that I faintly saw his face. When I reached his grave it had a picture on it. I was truly amazed. I went with my boyfriend that day because I was too scared to go alone and he could not believe that I predicted it also. I also sometimes felt like something might be behind me there. How mysterious!

Haunted209 Last Seen: 1/6/2009 5:51:09 PM	i have been here the past two nights. i didnt see anything. this might sound, well, stupid. but when we arrived there was no fog inside the cemetery, as we were there the fog settled in, and became very dense we left down to the jack in the box and drove by it again and the fog was completely GONE. we were only gone for maybe 20min. kinda weird in my opinion. but other than that, we saw nothing.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	Hi my name is Sara I lived in Modesto my whole life and my grandfather who I was dear to died 6 years ago and I recently went to the cemetart the day of his death I went with my mom and I happened to have a voice recorder and the voice said my moms name. Well this made me curious so I then went again to visit my grandfather s grave and I went with my fiance for I was scared since I heard what I did the first time. It was about 5.30 pm and there was nobody there but me and him. As I was near my grandfathers grave there was a voice that said hi and as I was proceeding to leave the cemetary I had a numerous amount of voices saying sara, there is sara and one distonct voice goes where s Sara and the voice drew closer in and said Sara..... as they were trying to get my attention. I was scared to hear that but what scared me more was the fact as I was driving away you hear footsteps of someone chasing my car they sounded like feet running on wet grass. and as my car came to astop on the other side of the cemetary the voice said bye Sara... Obviously someone was contacting me and the fact knowing it knew my name makes it a intelligent spirit. Ever since then I have had nightmares and I hear voices seriously saying my name and I get this overwhelming feeling to go back. Tell me what you experienced I want to know I am not alone

AnonymousVisiter A US	I have gone to Acacia for paranormal research several times. I have felt many things, and captured some pictures of a red mist, in several areas on the grounds. I also captured EVP's, one of which was my name being yelled out at me. Some of the other EVP's I've gotten are as follows: Hail Jesus Why are you doing this to us? Hello Don't touch me I have also gotten other names, and sounds that I couldn't tell what they were saying. I think it's important to remember that these are people, and we need to always respect them, and the grounds they now occupy. I've seen a lot of garbage strown about, and things broken, and it saddens me deeply. Although we may be looking for answers, or seeking out the conforting voice of a passed loved one, we need to also remember to care for them. I also want to add that I had obtained permission to walk the cemetery after closing, and you should do the same if you plan on doing paranormal research after hours.

I can tell you that are many people are direspectful and may sometimes think that just because one passes, that the spirit is no longer with us and has no emapathy to what is around us. I cant explain why these spirits stay and why I capture evps that are unexplainable. It could be that these spirits have messages for us or others, maybe unfinished buisness that was left unattended on earth. I will keep on seeking to hear from my grandfather, but If I dont ever come in to contact with him, I know he is watching over me and my family and I need to be accepting that it may not be meant for me to know the answers that I seek to find. I never gone to the cemetary after hours during daylight and I know the last time I went there caught evps that have startled me and I don't want to go back for those reasons but I am being pulled by something , trying to catch my attention to get me back there. "why that is, I dont know? have you gone to the cemetary lately. Its a little wierd that these spirits contacting us by calling our names, how can they be so intelligent to know us and why would they try to catch our attention ?

AnonymousVisiter N US	We had permission from all cemeteries that share the grounds. We were very disappointed. No voices, very low activity. We have not finished going over the audio, but nothing substantial in the photos. Just some orbs. But I have never been to impressed with orbs. If I do get something I'll post it for all to see. To the people "taking a chance", they do have patrols out there, and they are asking all trespassers to leave, or they will call the police.You should really get permission and not trespass, it's bad manners and illegal! If you would have had some forethought you could also have gotten written permission.

I just went back about two weeks ago and recieved an extreme amount of evps that were communicating with me and my fiance. They understood everything that me and my fiance were discussing. I am intrigued by the information and evidence I collect. I can tell you that each time I go it is too vist my father at his grave site and it seems that is when other spirits visit me. I have been contacted by my daughter, my great grandmother and I will keep going till I find evps that match to my dad. The spirits there are just like you and me and they respect you alot more when you talk and conversate with them. It is more active during the mid day then night I can guareentee if you go around 4- 5:30 you will recieve alot of evps, Good luck

AnonymousVisiter ** US	My brother owned a home many years ago on the river in Modesto, this was a very old small house. My brother was having nightmares, and my neice was talking to people that no one else could see (she was between 2-3years old) and talked about her friend. I always thought that it was an imaginary friend until once while I was in the bathroom at the home I started to wash my hands and caught a glimps of someone/something in the mirror behind me. I am not sure what it was as I was so scared by it that I ran out of the bathroom. My neice thought it was funny and said that he is naughty and laughed. I told my sister in law about it and she said she knows that he was there, he does not bother anyone and she has never seen him but she has felt him in a room, and her daughter could clarify that he was there when she felt him there. My neice would say that she saw him all of the time. Once they moved from the house my neice was sad for a while and missed her friend, she would not sleep in her room by herself anymore... isn't the a hoot! a kid will not sleep in her room because she does not have a ghost in there? Megan does not see ghosts now that she is 10, and has not sice they moved from Modesto when she was 5 yrs old. But I saw this one, I did not get a good look at it, but I felt it was male. My neice was able to tell me indeed, it was a he, and that he is naughty, and he liked to startle me, but it was all fun! Must have been a ghost with a sense of humor! I all I know is I never went to the bathroom in that house again with the door shut, or I would bring my neice in there wiht me to let me know he was not there. She once told me that he will not hurt me, and that she told him it is not nice to scare people... She still remembers him, and now knows what a ghost is, but she said she does not think she would be scared of him if he came to her new house...

AnonymousVisiter ** US	I happen to know quite a few people buried in this cemetary,one of htem is my mother in law and the best man at my wedding.I have not been there at night since they were buried there.But in high school my friend and I used to go through there all the time and in the back area the ground was so soft you had to be carefull or your feet would start to sink in the soft soil.We did find a sarcophagus of a small child that had been bro ken open once.We went to the cemetary at night during a birthday party back in 1973,never heard anything.

AnonymousVisiter ** US	Across from this cemetary is the old county hospital, now used as a county health clinic. I went with my husband and while waiting, I kept getting flashes of people being locked in rooms, neglected, etc. After awile I went to the bathroom, and I got an overwhelming feeling of anguish in there. I bet this would be a good place for EVP work. It's the main womens bathroom to the right of the gift shop, lots of old retro green tiles in there, check it out. write a post if you find something.

AnonymousVisiter CALIFORNIA US	I moved to Modesto back in 01'. I've never heard or seen anything at this cemetery. I believe there's a difference between going out of your way to provoke spirits, and just waiting for them to show you a sign. I believe that the spirits that try to get your attention are souls in purgatory asking for prayers. Anything else is demonic, and people really need to be careful because they are messing with things that they really have no idea or clue about. So just be careful people..don't provoke things, its asking to open doors to something quite different that you may regret for a long time..

Often I get there just before dark, since that's when I'm off work. I feel somehow protected & safe when I'm there. One evening, the feelings changed. I looked around & saw no one, but felt like someone was watching me from a short distance away. I have no idea why I pulled out my digital camera, except that my little Canon seems to see better in the dark than I do. So I started taking pictures, repeatedly, starting from facing back part of cemetery & gradually turning towards the Scenic Ave. side. In most of the pictures there's nothing to see. But in a couple of them there are huge orbs, not bugs, not dust, ORBS. They're not in the photos taken immediately before or immediately after & I was only slightly moving the camera with each shot. So you can easily see that the orbs are NOT in there, in the very same spot, in the photos previous & photos following. I felt no fear, but I was definitely feeling like I should leave...soon. Then, as clear as day, I heard someone with a seeminlgy familiar voice say in my right ear "Your boys are waiting for you to get home". Of course I thought it was my own thoughts. But when I got home, I looked over the pictures on the much larger computer screen. Not only were there the orbs, but faint outlines and darker shadows in the shapes of a couple of men and a woman standing maybe 30yards away from where I'd been standing, in 3 different places. Call me crazy....but I know what I heard, what I felt and the pictures show more than I was able to see with my own eyes.

AnonymousVisiter * US	I really don't think anyone should play around with what is in that cemetery.I went there two nights ago and I was walking around trying to capture an Evp.I heard several Growls and infact I was shoved.The only voice I did capture was that of a women telling me to show some Respect!

ghost of gumby Last Seen: 4/20/2012 8:37:17 PM	I investigated Acacia back in 2004 and I took several photos, many which had unusual lights. I stopped going there in October of 2005 when some entity followed me home, and things started getting knocked around at my house. I feel that this entity is connected to the Mausoleum, so I would recommend that anyone out there at night stay away from this place. The rest of the cemetery has benign spirits.
