Description:
In the mid to late 1800's, Summit Inn was once a house occupied by a small family. In this family their was a mother, father, and two children (plus the family dog). One of the children was born mentally handicapped. At some point the home eventually caught on fire. Everyone was able to escape the home, except for the mentally handicapped child, who perished.

Many years later in the 1900's the remnants of the house became a hotel known as the Old Summit Inn. The hotel was run effectively for some years, until in 2006 the hotel burned down. Everyone got out of the hotel, except for a dog, who perished in the fire.

Now all that remains is what was once the employee's home, where they could go when not helping the guest. However, strange things happen around this small home, and there have been all sorts of ghost-like reportings.

There are reports of hearing children's footsteps, and laughter. Additionally, some people say they hear machinery.

Doesn't matter anyway. The story is a lie. I worked there both as a waiter in the resturaunt and a bouncer in the bar. I spent many nights in the place and there was never any ghosts there.

My family started the Summit Inn, and there's a room no one could go in, and all the little kids wanted to open it in but we kept it locked, yes its haunted.

The summit Inn and the land it sits on have always been sacred, first  the natives worshiped on this great mound and it is now the eternal resting place of  a great man, Charles Mehlin Poser. The only thing that ever haunted The Summit was the in-bred jackels that stole from this great mountain and built storage units and poisoness buisness' on Depot Street. Shame on these so called Christians, one day they will understand the meaning of haunting...........Samuel Rogers

I stayed at the Summit & had to leave as soon as the sun rose. I had so many crazy experiences that night, I had to question my own sanity. Beautiful place, it's sad it burnt down.

Me and my friend, despite the fact that it is now gated off, went to the Old Summit Inn. It is no more since it burned down and a fence stops people from going in, but at 3:00 A.M. the two of us jumped the fence and ran down there. The hotel is burned down but the Maintenance House is still there, or as one of the previous commentors called it the "Carriage House".

Once there the two of us first inspected the places, then we started searching for spirits. We got a good amount of evidence. Laughing, footsteps, and electrical devices were heard. No one could have been pranking us as it was only the two of us together that night. After we were done we left with our stories of the sounds of children at the place. I give it a 7/10 if it were a scale of how haunted the place is.

There was not any No Trespassing signs when we went and there was possibly another entrance besides the fence we went over. Not sure.
