I graduated there, class of 1976.
The ghost is a student, (legend has it) that was in the stage crew, who fell to his death from the cat walks above the stage. Three days before a musical-comedy was to take place. Since that day, anytime the ghost's shadow is seen on stage, the event that will take place there, will end in a flop or a tradgedy. He does not cause this to happen, he warns what to come.
The ghost was seen twice while I was there. first in 1974 and the second time in 1976. The first time was a comedy that bombed. The second was a variety show. A drunk person was sitting twenty seats to my right and he began to vomit on himself and the smell forced the audiance to leave before the show ended.
But the most famous sighting was in 1996. President Clinton came to Monrovia high school to praise Monrovia for bringing back the truancy law from when my mother was a youth. After a hearring agenst the ACLU. Monrovia won and the law was aloud to stand.
The ghost was seen three days before the president arrived, but he came and he left, and nothing happened...Thirty-three days later, the nation learned of the Monica, sex scandel. Second- Chief Block of the L.A. county sheriff's died in office. Third- Chief Williams of the L.A.P.D., left in discrace because the ranck and file lost faith in him to lead. Forth- The mayor of Monrovia left office in scadel being accused of sexual harrisment of a colleague. Fifth- The California governor was re-called.
It took time, but many in the audiance that day lives ended up in a, "Flop, or a tradgedy."
