Location Description:

Located in an area of Beaufort called Frogmore, on the Lands End Peninsula an eerie light floats over Land`s End Rd. Some claim it is the ghost of a murdered Confederate soldier, searching for his head, others claim it`s the ghost of a slave, sold away from his family, who`s come back to hunt for them, though the tales predate the American Revolution. It is most usually reported between the Chapel of Ease (see Beufort) and the "Hanging Tree". The light has been the cause of at least one documented accident, and Paranormal author Nancy Roberts captured a picture of the light and published it in one of her many books about the ghosts of South Carolina.

lmk1227 Last Seen: 6/5/2008 3:23:58 PM	Yes this is true. But if you`ve seen the light Have you seen Hang Mans Tree? It is said that one of the slaves was hung and if you park under the tree you can hear him. when you pull away you see him hanging there. I`ve seen that.

rrickynsc Last Seen: 1/16/2008 8:04:00 PM	I have heard about hang man tree but I have never seen anything hanging from it except branches.. I did see the light along with 4 other people.. Although I don`t believe it to be a slave or a soldier but not sure exactly what it was we saw. The light was a ball about 30 feet from the front of our car we had the bright lights on it. It zipped out of the woods and darted back and fourth across the road really quick and then went out into the woods and was gone.. It was perfectly round and was about the size of a cantelope or grapefruit.. I have been coming to this site for almost 30 years ( 1979 ) looking for it and only seen it once back in 1989.. I don`t ge scared easil and find my self to be a very rational person and I can usually find a reasonable explanation for things, but I have never figured this one out.. I can assure anyone that it was not swamp gas or anything of the sort nor was it a prank..

AnonymousVisiter ** US	IVE SEEN IT AND ITS REALLY FREAKY!!!!!!!!!! AND THERE WAS SPIRITS WALKING AROUND THE HANGING TREE AND ABRAHAM LICOLN WAS TEACHING THEM HOW TO PLAY THE HAUNTED PIANO!!!! MY FRINED WAS SINGING TO THEM AND THEY GATHERED AROUND IN A CIRCLE AND STARED DANCING THE MACARANA!!!! HOLY COW IVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT!! AND WHEN I SCREAMED THEY ALL SCREAMED AND STARTED RUNNING THROUGH EACH OTHER AND HITTING THE TREE! AND ONE OV THEM EVEN HUNG HIMSELF ALL OVER AGAIN!! WE WENT BACK FOR A COMMUNITY SURVIS AT A CHURCH (I DONT KNOW WITCH ONE IT WAS) AND THE ORGAN WAS PLAYING BY ITS SELF, BUT IT ENDED UP BEING AN OLD MAN WHO DIPPED HIMSELF IN INVISABLE PAINT!! WE WERE SO WEIRDED OUT BY THIS FREAKY OLD MAN WE WALKED WAIT RAN OUT OF THE CHURCH AND THE SPIRITS WERE DANCING! OUR DANCE LESSONS PAYED OFF. AND I ASSURE YOU WHEN YOU GO OUT THERE THE ONLY MUSIC YOUR EVER GONNA HEAR IS THE MACARANA THINGY CUZ MY GOOD BUDDY FRANK SQUIGGLY CAN DANCE BOY DANCE!!!

AnonymousVisiter ** US	We go to Hunting Island State park alot and one of the fun things to do is late at night go to the old fort and the hanging tree. I've never seen the light but one night we seen a rope hanging from the "Hanging tree" and it was red on the end of the rope. We went back the next morning to get pictures and it was not longer there. Dont know if someone was playing a prank or not. Wondering if anyone else has seen this??

AnonymousVisiter - -	I was stationed at MCAS Beaufort Air Station in the early 1970's and several of ous used to go out there around midnight just to see the lights. It got within about 50' near us. A floating bal ,of very bright light. It travels above the road from the old Church at the Intersection to the Large Tree that Overhangs over the road. It is vivid in my memory.
