In January of 2006 I was leaving the West edge of Ft. Branch on SR 168. The western horizon had a sight to behold. The bright sun coming up in the East behind me was somehow being reflected downwards through dark cottony rain clouds.

However, just recently my younger brother's friend reported having heard the same thing around the same time, and had the same difficulty finding where it was coming from.

I will not say that this is any sort of haunting. I'm wondering if there are speakers or something on the nature trail at the beach (as I, and others have heard something similar there in the woods).

Lakeshore Asylum is an old abandoned asylum that you can go into and walk around. The new Lakeshore mental institute sits up on the hill from the abandoned one. In this building, the patient files, pictures, and random things are still in there. Most of the rooms are empty, however, there are some that aren't. Many of the entrances into this building have been boarded up, but there is always a way in, you just have to find it. If you park in the parking lot and head down the steps and then head left all the way to the back of the building there is an open door. Many of the pictures you see that claim to be Lakeshore isn't Lakeshore, the old building is still there, along with whatever is inside it.

The Brian Center is an abandoned Nursing home with a dark past. Not only were it's patients subjected to poor living conditions, sub-standard nutrition, and unsanitary facilities, but they were also subjected to neglect, and abuse. In fact, the Brian Center was shut down because of reports of deaths caused by blunt force trauma. One of the worst stories is of a former employee that would hit, and tie down the patients for days until they had infected bed sores. This employee was said to be involved in devil worship, and Voo Doo. I haven't been able to find legal reports of this, but the story comes from several reliable sources. Another story is of an elderly woman who wandered off the property into the woods, and was never seen again. Her body was never found, and is still lying some where out in the woods. True story, there are old news paper clippings about it.

I worked as a night auditor for a couple of years back when the Days Inn in Thermopolis was a Holiday Inn. There is some activity going on there. I experienced several cold spots that couldn't be explained by normal means. Also, there were many nights I looked into the security mirror and would see large numbers of people walking up and down the hallway, but when I would look down the hall with my own eyes, they were empty. Once I saw a man looking at a picture down near the entrance to the dining room. He turned and vanished.

The hotel is located in the same spot that the Carter Hotel and Sanitarium stood until it was demolished in 1966. I've never heard of anything particularly spooky about the Carter, but apparently the traces of that many people over so long left an impression behind that can still be seen today.

The Ritz Theatre in Thermopolis Wy is extremely haunted. Not in a good way either. My father was manager for many years there and I and my friends had many eerie things happen. First thing is the constant feeling of being watched. While in the large front store room you never felt like you were alone, you were constantly being watched by something just out of sight. The same goes for the back store room/Janitors closet. In addition to this several times while walking through the darkened auditorium after closing, female employees and friends felt themselves shoved roughly from behind. A couple of women also reported being choked.

I'm not sure of the exact cause of these hauntings, but an old-timer in Thermopolis said that there once was a House of Ill Repute on the site that burned down, and there may have been a prostitute killed. I've never found information to support or reject the theory.

In early November of 2009 surprisingly there were no other coal trucks on Indiana SR 56. I was in a coal truck headed West towards Bowman. Two and one half miles from Petersburg there was a slow moving sphere glinting the late morning sun at 11:00 AM. There were NO airplane wings, NO fuselage, NO tail, to view!

Normally there would have been many trucks going either direction. I kept still on the CB radio about that sighting arriving at the 5 Star Mine at their Prospect underground coal mine. Cool!

The sphere reminded me of the Disney movie "Flight of the Navigator" from 1986. It may have been six to eight feet in diameter, and it looked silver in color. It flew North to South over the normally busy two lane highway the same speed and lower altitude of a small plane.

Back in the early 1920-30's there was a hospital built just to house children with Polio they were sent from all over the country to live out the rest of their lives. This place was ran by Nuns which had an ajointing residence next door. Really a quite beautiful place for the Nuns.

The hospital I didn't see when first built but was abanded after the children mostly died, I have no idea where their bodies were burried some say some were burried on site due to improper disposal, then the main hospital had an enfirmary which the children would be burnt-cremated & ashes if wanted would be sent to parents which sent them there knowing they wouldn't see them again alive. Many of these children are said to still roam the playgroung which last time I was there is still there.

I think the room I stayed in on the third floor, when I was there for business, use to be a maids room in the day. It was really small, but had a fireplace with a slate hearth. The room had so much static the TV kept making static noices and I could hardly hear the other party when I was making phone calls for all the static eletricity. The first couple of days were pretty quite, other than the static eletricity. On the third day I didn't have to get up early as I had the previous two days. The Immaculate Heart Elementary School (IHES) was used as a Catholic elementary school for grades K-8. It closed as a school sometime in 2006 (if I remember correctly) and condensed the local Catholic elementary schools into what is now Trinity Academy about 10 minutes away from IHES.

I have no idea what the IHES building is used for now, if anything, but reports of shadows following you around on the lower level/gym floor and intense feelings of being watched on the upper floors have been made.

If I had to guess, this building is now owned by the Giradrville Borough.

There is already an entry for "Rest Haven" in Schuylkill Haven, PA, but I've had trouble obtaining permissions to update that entry. For simplicity sake, this is a new update!

As of the Summer of 2011 (maybe even a little before that, if I remember correctly), the Old Rest Haven was demolished and leveled to the ground. As far as I know, Penn State Schuylkill had purchased the Old Rest Haven (located right next to the new one up the hill from the Penn State Schuylkill Campus). Shortly after this happened, a fire broke out in the building and it was set for demolition shortly after.

At any rate, I have no idea what it is set to become or what will happen to the land, but I can confirm that it is no longer standing. It's a shame, it was definitely a very, very creepy place with a lot of activity.

The Hall itself is located directly across the street from the St. Joseph's Church. I have no idea if any of the activity carries over into the church itself (it hasn't in any of my experiences), but there are a lot of stories about a lady dressed in white that roams the Hall.

To my knowledge, the Hall was once a small school many, many years ago (I'm not even remotely sure as to when, so I won't try to estimate a date). The only reason I know this is because the upper balcony and the basement have classrooms that are still furnished with desks and blackboards to this day. To date, it is used as a Bingo Hall and for various other church-related activities.

The doors to many of the classrooms downstairs slam shut as if someone has a set, particular way they're supposed to be positioned. Many CCD classes have been held downstairs in these classrooms and they have witnessed firsthand the opening and closing of these doors.

I just read every one of these blogs regarding the Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham, MA! Boy oh boy I remember like it was yesterday. I too have been in the asylum twice, back in 2000. I broke in with my brother and his roommate at the time. One of the upper blogs commented about hiding from the cops on the entrance road. I smiled when reading this because we too hid from the cops for a long period of time. I do remember taking a dump in the woods because of all the anxiety! Anyway, we entered the hospital with ease through a window with a broken sheet of plywood affixed to it. We were armed with plenty of flashlights; My brother with his camcorder, and myself with a nice 35 mm cannon equipped with black and white film. I was a photography student at a nearby college. Out of curiosity for this place, we snooped around for hours in the early morning. I took interesting pictures that I soon developed at my college's darkroom and showed for a critique ... This plantation home in Concord near Union Cemetery. You must follow a long, gravel driveway to arrive at the home. There is dense shrubbery surrounding the main house. Located in back of the house is an old, wooden slave quarter that is surrounded by a fence. We obtained some photos, but did not have a recording device to catch EVP's at the time of the initial investigation. This site is extremely interesting simply becuase no information can be found about the home or the surrounding property. Please exercise extreme caution when attempting to investigate. Many including me have seen a little boy in the garb of the 1890's. Also sound of balls bouncing around, no one is out in the lobby and everyone is in there rooms for the night. My mom used to work at the Front Desk and Housekeeping. Now it's just a being used as a "boarding" house and has been remolded. Many a people died in the rooms of that place. It happened around 2 am on July 5, 2011. Just got of turnpike heading east toward Vero Beach. I glanced out of the corner of my eye and saw what looked like to be a small sort of tower on the north side of the road. It was a square tower with lights shining downward on each corner of the roof. Well at fist glance that is what it looked like. Mind you it was very late and I didn't see through the darkness if there was something actually built from the ground up. I just saw the "roof" of the "tower". I was going for about another minute or two, and if it was a stable object, it would have got smaller in my side mirror but it didn't. As a couple minutes passed, it slowly got bigger and bigger and then I realized it was no tower at all. I saw the lights coming toward my side of the car. I used to live in a 2nd story apartment smack dab in the main drag of Newburgh above where a huge pit is located as part of the underground railroad.. This pit was used to hold runaway slaves that fled during the civil war era till the slave bounty hunters came to collect.. I've had numerous encounters with items of mine being shoved off the wall, my cat being freaked out dishes falling off the counter when pushed all the way back to the wall without reasonable explanations.. My landlords said that on the pit walls there are still fingernail marks where slaves tried to get out of the pit.. So that apartment was haunted to the max it used to be an armory during the civil war and a hospital then converted to a hotel and finally a apartment... :-) I miss that place...... I am from Vero Beach and I had a sighting on Sept 17, 2011 around 10pm. Me and my boyfriend were down on the beach in front of Driftwood Resort/Inn and saw what it looked like to be several lights but in actuality they were flying in a triangular formation but seemed like they were playing a game of tag, fighting who was going to be first in line. We saw this happened as they traveled from North to South for about a minute then seemed to disappear. I was trying to see if other people on the way back walking to Mulligans if they had seen the same thing but people that had been there since we had gotten there didn't seem like they were disturbed or looking at the sky a lot (because I wouldn't just flat out ask if they saw it not to seem crazy!). The location of Lakehill Road has long interested historians from across the globe. Throughout history it is well known that Lakehill Road has had some very strange sightings of a man wandering the roads late at night. The locals call him Mr. Ding Hill Berry, and he is said to be as old as the land himself.

Legend has it that Mr. Berry is from the original hills themselves, the ones which Burnt Hills gained its name from. He is said to be the only man to survive the burning of the hills back in the days of the Native Americans.

If you see Mr. Ding Hill Berry, you will recognize him as the legend himself instantly upon sight. He is small, brown, has random hairs hanging off of his body, and has a terrible stench about him. He is a creepy character and hard to spot. He hides in dark crevices and its very hard to know when he will be there. Amazingly beautiful antebellum plantation home which is a most Romantic Bed & Breakfast to stay overnight in the main house, but also boasts a 5 star gourmet resturant in the old Carriage home out back.   Great hiking and nature trails to wander in the daytime and evenings behind the place.
The home has a harp from the 1840's which is part of ghost sightings on the property. Legend goes an elderly lady died there from a broken heart and spirit. She gave afternoon concerts everyday at 3pm. Mysterious harp music can sometimes be heard though no one is playing at it during the days.

I live in eureka california. some friends told me about this place so me my girl and three friends went and checked it out last thursday at about 1am. the town is very creepy. the storefront is abandoned and my girl saw an old mans face in the upstairs window. we explored all around the store and gas station. i saw a shadow inside the gastation but when we shined our flashlights inside there was nothing there. we heard whispering it sounded angry but we couldnt make out what was being said. we went inside one of the abandoned houses the red one. upstairs in the hall closet is a makeshift altar with dead animals on it. it stinks so bad and theres melted wax and blood on the floor. there is more blood on the floor of the bedroom on the right. we assume its animal. on the wall someone has written killed by the beast beware. my girl got freaked so we left. im goin back without her. theres no cops!!! so its perfect for exploration.... I've heard many times from different people, that this house that once was on 49th S "Township Rd" was the scene of a brutal murder suicide.

From what I've been told there was a family living there, something went wrong and the father took a shotgun to his kids and his wife, then blew his head off in the shower.

The house was empty for a long time, with people periodically trying to live there and moving out quickly. Recently the house was moved less than a mile away. My guess would be because the house was in good condition, they just didn't want the energy of the area, or something.

The picture was when the house was on 49th still. Perhaps after said incident when people had tried to buy it many times and ended up moving.

The house is on 15th E now, pretty far back from the road. But you can see it if you're looking. It's actually still on the same square mile, pretty much just right around the corner from where it was.

One gentleman stated that on the 17th hole he saw her looking at him from the treeline. She quickly disappeared before his very eyes as he stood there watching.

This is a location which must be visited only during the day hours and is heavily guarded by security at night! Do not attempt to investigate after dark here. To do so would be subject to arrest.
