Above Stop and Shop on State Street, in the front apartment (private), is allegedly where a woman who was a prostitute (Barbara Hoffman) who tortured, killed and cut up a customer who signed over his will to her. She tied him to a table and tried to kill him by pouring boiling water on him, it did not work and she bludgeoned him to death. She disposed of his body parts in snow banks until caught. There is a book written about it named: "Winter of Frozen Dreams". This was the first nationally televised murder trial in the USA. Many who have lived there after her have had bad outcomes. Most recently a street spray paint artist named Travis who was involved as an accessory in a murder in 2009.

Very famous event in Madison. Is a private residence so NO TRESSPASSING.

The main building was an old tuberculosis sanitarium. There is a forest in the back that has a path that leads through it and goes to the graveyard. There is also two large smoke stacks that the dead were rumored to be burned in. The nurse' barracks were connected by a tunnel that was under ground and lead from the main building.
